Blue Ocean was a recommendation from Dexter at the Hilton on Kuhio. Grateful to Dexter because we enjoyed BOSS more than once during our stay. I first shared the garlic shrimp/lobster combo with my husband. I didn't take a picture of that but it was delicious! The combo isn't cheap but it's perfect to share with two people and I'd say it's well priced for what you get!. There were at least 4 large shrimps smothered in buttered garlic bits and the lobster was tender and easy to pull right out of the tail. The tail was grilled perfectly and both came on a bed of rice with a side of corn and a small amount of salad. We went back a second time for some moco for breakfast. This time we each had our own. the moco came with macaroni salad and rice. I preferred the traditional loco moco but both were yummy!

Blue Ocean Seafood & Steak is a larger food stand/Food truck located across from the well know food truck area off this stretch of Waikiki. They are hard to miss as they have big signs everywhere, and of course, that big blue block really stands out color wise while walking down the street. The food they offer here is a massive menu selection, and they offer just about any variety of what you would find from a Hawaiian BBQ place. They offer course offer a wide variety of seafood options as well, and even have things such as lobster on the menu, so not just your typical Hawaiian BBQ spot. They are also open earlier in the day and late into the night, so easily accessible. When I visited them earlier in the day I got the fried calamari and loco moco combo. The service was okay, no complaints. The food I got was hit and miss. The part that was a total miss was the rice and the mac salad, as I feel both of these were just old from the previous early day or further back and needed to get rid of it. The rice was hard, but not in a dried rice way, because it's been reheated poorly. The mac salad was honestly the worst mac salad I ever had, which is strange considering I'm getting it from the source. But not only did it not taste right, the sauce itself was grainy on every bite I could stomach until I gave up.However, the other parts of it, behind the actual loco moco and the fried calamari was fine. Egg was fine that was with the loco moco, and gravy no issue. Fried calamari was a bit on the tougher side but still tender so I didn't mind. At least the main actors for this dish were on point.Overall, Blue Ocean is a convenient option with a vast variety of choices to pick from when it comes to food options. They also offer some of the cheapest options in Waikiki for food, so not a bad place to be either. However, I'm not sure if the rice and mac salad for me this day was just a one off, and hope it was because those really took me out of the redeeming qualities for this place. Perhaps will try them in the future when I'm back and give them a try later in the day.

We took a big family trip to Honolulu last month and needed a place to eat for about fifteen people, three of them small children, within walking distance of our hotel in Waikiki. To make things even more interesting, we planned nothing in advance, and this particular meal was our Saturday night dinner. I was relieved, if somewhat skeptical, when my dad suggested Blue Ocean Seafood & Steak. He'd found it on Google Maps, I believe, and it felt pretty random, with mediocre reviews. To be fair, Blue Ocean met all our needs, and if we had better options, I was not aware of them. The space was kind of ideal for our large, loose party: a food shack with a window for ordering and a plain, casual patio. It wasn't busy at 5:30 on a Saturday, and we were able to walk in and grab two adjacent tables without fuss. No booze, but we were free to bring our own--my dad picked up some Coronas nearby. Service was fast and friendly. There were some crazy forks that broke about as soon as we used them, but otherwise, no complaints about the set-up.The food wasn't great, unfortunately. Blue Ocean has an enormous menu, with every kind of seafood as well as pasta and chicken and lamb. There was even another part of the shack that served pizza, though I didn't see a soul going over there and can't imagine it being any good. This felt like a place that would do better if it picked a specialty and did it well.I got the lobster and shrimp kebab combo, which came, like all the other plates, with choice of rice or fries, salad, and bread. The lobster was solid, definitely the best thing I ate here, flavorful and cooked more or less correctly. The shrimp kebab tasted good but was on the dry side. Not terrible, but not the quality you might hope for from a seafood shack. I ate my lobster and shrimp with rice and some hot sauce, which was provided on request. I also tried some of the calamari, both grilled and fried. The grilled calamari was rubbery, but the fried version was satisfying. My husband made the mistake of ordering fish. His salmon was genuinely awful, maybe the worst thing I've eaten at a place that exists to cook and serve food. Gray and dry, an almost inedible waste of fish. Our kids fared better with their spaghetti and meatballs.I can't say I'd recommend Blue Ocean, but it was there for us when we needed it, and I did enjoy my lobster. It's an easy option if you need to feed several people in Waikiki. Avoid the fish, and you'll do okay.

Steak kabobs tasted pre cooked and over cooked after cooking it like it's fresh. Calamari over cooked and lobster was salty. PIZZA SPOT NEXT TO IT OLD LADY IS SO RUDE AND PIZZA TASTED GROSS WASTE my money. I asked for red pepper flakes and the girl helping the mean old lady that kept yelling at her, gave me black pepper season packs. Then I said no it's red so she tried to offer me a piece of red bell pepper. Never again.

Late night eats! 3 1/2 stars. After day drinking, this sure beats McDonald's. The salmon was a little overdone and the coconut shrimp was fried a little too long, but again, late night eats! Lol. I was hungry and it hit the spot. Fast and friendly service. Outdoor bench seating. Prices are average. $20 for my plate. Will I go again? Sure, for late night eats.

It was alright, a lot of people hyped up this truck bc of the large menu, but it was just alright. They were very friendly but if you're looking for something safe this is the spot.

Stumbled upon that spot while trying to find shelter from an unexpected downpour. This is a no frills place with very tasty food. I noshed on the Caesar salad with shrimp. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection, very meaty and juicy. The service was very fast and friendly. And I believe the food is made to order.

Great selection, good food. Pretty busy but things moved along. Got a very nice dinner and my wife enjoyed hers too. There are many tables and folding chairs but we found a spot easily. The whole area was neat and a nice touch is a spot to wash your hands after eating. Would come in handy if you handled shrimp or crabs etc. Will return while I'm in town.

We were walking by here and the aroma from this food truck filled the air. The food smelled wonderful and we had to give it a try. It's right by Maguro Spot where I picked up my lunch. The hubby decided to try their sweet chili chicken $17. The prices are a bit higher here in Waikiki. They gave a lot of chicken. I can't do spicy and thank goodness it wasn't spicy at all. It was on the sweeter side. It was yummy after just getting out of the fryer and being drenched in their sauce. It came with white rice, toss salad and a butter roll. I would eat here again, but looking for parking around this place is nuts.

Amazing selection of meats, fresh seafood, chicken, salads, even breakfasts & pizzas, prepared quickly and at pretty decent prices! We've had whole calamari, shrimp & steak skewers, sammies & pizzas and everything was great. We've already been back several times during our stay so far! Plenty of shaded seating and the staff has been friendly and welcoming. There are still menu items we'd like to try!
