Happened in in this little place. Pretty packed for the playoff game. The bartender was solo and running around but she got to everyone sure enough. People were friendly and local. Good was tasty and made fresh. Lots of beer options and TV with sound. I liked the decor. Pretty classic pub. Great place to catch a game.

I can't believe how behind I am....Meeting up with my Hawaii posse can be a challenge. Most of the time we just want to drink...and if food is available, we'll indulge. We just wanted something low key, and searching for a bar, the Black Shamrock came up. It's in the old space that housed O'Tooles. I had never been, because it looked too seedy...LOL! The Shamrock is a welcomed change to a really cool space. What a great place to come to! They have really opened the space up and it's much brighter and inviting. The bartenders are friendly and make some really good drinks! We also spoke to the owners and it was fun to hear the story behind the purchase and renovations of the bar. They also have a signature drink, Lucky Shamrock? Soooo good! Anyways, we now have a new place to meet up at. Can't wait for the kitchen to open!Mahalo Black Shamrock!

Black Shamrock is Honolulu's newest Irish pub. On the site of a downtown mainstay, the new owners completely transformed the bar. Gone are the dark rooms and smoke; everything has been cleaned and renewed including the exposed brick and copper ceilings. The decor leans traditional Irish pub - knickknacks, signs, flags, and bottles. It's tasteful and colorful. TVs abound, which will appeal to sports fanatics, but the large open windows also give a great view of the historic buildings and harbor nearby. New tables in the main room hint at more of a restaurant vibe coming soon (as of this writing, the food menu is in progress).I stopped in recently to check it out. Their new founding date is 3/17/2022, the first St. Patrick's Day we all got to celebrate in person for a long while. The bar runs along the left wall with three draft beer tap towers, an ice cooler for bottled beer specials, and more hard liquor (leaning to whiskey and Scotch) than you could possibly try in a year of visits.I just wanted to check it out, so I grabbed a stout on nitro pour. While there, another patron bought a round of drinks for the whole bar; definitely a good omen and one that made a happy afternoon. The bartender Ashley explained about the whole transition, new ownership, and future plans - she was friendly and attentive the whole time no matter how many people came in.If first impressions are a good judge of the new business, this one will be around a long time. I look forward to visiting again soon!

They were actually closed both times when we tried to visit. Though several locals in Waikiki enthusiastically recommended this spot - worth the trip.

Black Shamrock is located in the former O'Toole's location. They completely renovated and sanitized the place (years of cigarette smoke was ingrained in the walls and ceiling) so it is like a breath of fresh air to spend time here, especially for those of us who have asthma. They will be serving pizza as soon as their oven is installed and ready to go, but in the meantime, stop by for a drink or two.

The ambiance is incredible. Beautiful bar in a building well over 100 years old. Great bartenders, great drinks. Can't wait until they can get the gas hookup and get the kitchen open, but even without food, it's a wonderful spot. Jeffrey or Dave behind the bar and a glass of Pilsner Urqeull in front of you is a pure delight.
