I'm confused. Just call the number to discuss future business (for my event at Bloomingdale's), someone answered the phone and sounded rushing me or reluctant talked to me stated "we are not working right now". Then I asked if they are still in the business...he replied "no we are not in the business". I went back to Yelp, it says they will be open in 34 minutes????. Almost every month we have some kind of events at Bloomies; And I always looking for local vendors to team up with. I don't understand

Marshmahalos are my new most favorite thing ever. This is good, because my boy doesn't care for flavored homemade marshmallows. It means that we don't have to argue over who gets the last bite of the salted caramel or the Royal chocolate mousse. The smores marshmahalo is also safe with me, the soft vanilla mallow surrounding a core of dark chocolate, just waiting to be grilled lightly in my toaster oven, then popped onto a waiting graham cracker, and then directly into my mouth....oh, hi...are you still here? He ignores the marshmahalos for good reason. He goes straight for the mochi. He prefers his plain, and perfect. He has tried the chocolate fudgy bites, and a few of the other flavors, but prefers to keep it simple. The chi chi dango is light and airy. Not too sweet, not too bland, just right. We have learned to buy him two packages of mochi, just to be certain that he will have some left when we get home from the market. The pieces that make it all the way home are sliced into smaller and smaller pieces so that he can make them last as long as possible. Bentos Mochi and Delectables is a small, family run business. They operate only through the Ala Moana Farmer's Market, but we have been able to find them there on Saturdays and Tuesdays. They also accept catering requests, and are working on expanding their reach. They make as many tasty treats as they can for each market, but do start to run low on things (especially marshmahalos!) so visit them as early in the day as you can. Of course this means that you might need to sample your goodies. I wish you luck on making it all the way back to your car before you run out!The boy would like to add, "BEST THING IN THE WORLD!"31 Yelps Review Challenge 8/31

(Update 10/6/13: The Ala Moana Farmers' Market has moved to Ward Warehouse and now is called the Kaka'ako Farmers' Market. Bentos has made the move. Same market hours on Saturday.)Visited the Ala Moana Farmers' Market and noticed this mochi stand. The mochi offered here is not your typical found at places like Fujiya or Nisshodo which was what drew me to this spot. They offered up numerous box varieties of their products. There are some reasonably priced mochi boxes. In addition to selling mochi, they offer gourmet marshmallows.Being on vacation, you kind of throw price out the window when it comes to treats. As a result, I decided to get the $7 mini bento box which came with two pieces of regular mochi, two of chocolate mochi and your choice of truffle. I chose the Waialua Dark Chocolate. The mochi here is good. Nice and gooey. I think this was my first time trying chocolate mochi and found it to be a great combo. But the main attraction was the truffle which was the most indulgent piece of mochi I have ever had.Confused? Well, the truffle is inside the mochi! The outside has a chocolate mochi ball shell, but the inside is full of melted sweet dark chocolate. Simply amazing. The mochi here is legit. If you are looking for great non-traditional versions of this classic, visit Bentos.

Soft fluffy pillows of joy?! Oh yes, I want some of that! I have heard of these delectable marshmahalos (how cute is that) that seem to evade me. But not this past Saturday. I went to the Ala Moana Farmers Market and low and behold, they had a mother load of them. I asked the gentleman what types did he have of the marshmahalos...mint chocolate chip, toasted coconut haupia, cookies n cream, salted caramel, Maui vanilla bean s'more, orange dream, raspberry lemon drop, lava flow, and matcha green tea and honey. OMG flavor overload....They were $2 each, 4/$7 or they had a special- 1/2dzn for $10. I didn't want to be a glutton and thought I should be a good girl so I decided to buy 2. I couldn't buy one, it would have been lonely! Since I couldn't decide, I asked the guy to help me. He recommended the salted caramel (the most popular) and vanilla bean. Sold! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bentos-mochi-and-delectables-honolulu?select=ZLEqXUCx3yCp-XfVV7Ehtw#ZLEqXUCx3yCp-XfVV7EhtwNow I am not a marshmallow fan but hand made flavored ones, those I appreciate. The marshmallows were like clouds of wow and just ohh...! They were sweet but not overly sweet. They were soft and not chewy. As soon as I bit into one, it was almost orgasmic! The texture, the flavor....ohhhhhh!!They also have truffle mochi, plain mochi, mochi sandwiches chubby fudgie packs and you can make various bentos if you want to try a little of everything. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bentos-mochi-and-delectables-honolulu?select=NGNiJsQw_RsX-WwKAM8YcA#NGNiJsQw_RsX-WwKAM8YcAThey have a Facebook page too so pillow them and see what their specials are and where they will be at. Hopefully I can try some of these other things and tear myself away from those marshmahalos since everything looks delicious too. Go early so you get to try what you want! I can't wait to try more. It's a good thing I can't go here often; I swear I'd have one a day! Marshmahalo, you are seriously one of the best things I have ever inserted in my mouth! ^^*

I'm a desserts person and I try to instill this wonderful attribute in my children. So when we made it to Bentos Mochi and Delectables at the Pearlridge Farmer's Market on Saturdays, we tried a little of everything. The kids really liked the different kinds of truffle mochi, but I am absolutely in love with the mochi sandwiches. I've never had anything as yummy as the peanut butter dark chocolate mochi sandwich. My favorite! Great customer service!

I like oreos. Dark chocolate dipped oreos? I like those even more. Dark chocolate dipped oreos wrapped in chocolate mochi? Bentos Mochi & Delectables, you have outdone yourselves. The best thing I've put into my mouth all week. My mouth was assaulted (in a good way) by so many different textures & flavors: chewy (mochi), slight bitterness (dark chocolate), crunch (oreo), creamy (oreo filling), & chocolate, chocolate, CHOCOLATE. My tastebuds were tweaking (had to throw in this reference after the debacle that was the Miley Cyrus 2013 VMA performance) up a storm. The guy working said this was a special item so I'm not sure if they make it all the time but they definitely should. This chocolatey ball of awesomeness set me back $3 but it was well worth it.They also make really delicious handmade marshmallows, or "marshmahalos," (salted caramel is my personal fave, $2), along with other yummy mochi morsels. If you can find them at a farmer's market (Ala Moana or Fort Street Mall) and you have a sweet tooth, give them a try.

I will try my best but it will be hard to describe how absolutely amazing everything this store sells is.The marshmahalos (hand crafted gourmet marshmallows) are so soft and light. You can't eat just one! I know. I've tried on numerous occasions! My absolute favorites are salted caramel, cookies n cream, and mint chocolate chip. The flavors are as follows:Salted CaramelRoyal Chocolate MousseRocky RoadMint Chocolate ChipMint n CookieCookies n CreamNeapolitan Strawberry n CreamStrawberry LemonadeRaspberry Lemon DropRazzmatazz Orange Dream The peanut butter and azuki sandwiched in between pieces of mochi are my husbands favorite. The chubby fudgies are also so delectable! Don't even get me started on the truffle mochi. Yes, I said TRUFFLE MOCHI!Kui, the guy helping you behind the counter usually, is so friendly and nice! These people love what they do and it shows. He always greats you with a big smile and helps you find the best goodie to satisfy your sweet tooth. What are you waiting for? Head down to the Ala Moana Farmer's Market on Saturday between 8 am-12 pm or to Fort Street Mall on Tuesdays & Fridays between 6:45 am-1 pm to get your sweet fix on! Make sure you head down early. This family business is known to sell out of their best sellers in a matter of minutes sometimes!

In a word...YUM!!!I love mochi! A connoisseur, if you will. I love chi chi dango, Filipino cascaron, Chinese mochi rice, you name it! But, eat one of these and you will be ruined forever, because this is the best!My ultimate favorites are the signature white chocolate burnt cream daifuku and the chubby fudgy bites. BUT, don't get me wrong...it's all amazing! The salted dark chocolate is perfect for those moments when you want something incredibly decadent. What I love the best about their products, is that Owner/Chef Kui Bento, uses the highest quality of ingredients like Waialua dark chocolate. If you love peanut butter, you'll fall in love with the peanut butter mochi sandwiches....small kid time, just better. :DIf you want to have a dessert, that is unique and will be talked about for days, consider BMD for your wedding, baby luau, shower, corporate affair, graduation, etc. A friend of mine, had cake pops, cupcakes, and the mochi at his daughter's graduation party. The cupcakes and the cake pops were very good, but the mochi disappeared within the first 20 minutes of the buffet line opening. Folks were standing near the mochi trays, popping them in their mouths, one after another. No joke!Share the love with your friends and family....http://www.bentosmd.com/about.html. They are at the Ala Moana Farmer's Market, Saturdays 8a - 12n, mall level parking area behind Sears.
