First off, this review is long overdue. I have been taking drum lessons with Beck for almost three years now. I can confidently and proudly recommend him if you are serious about learning the drums or want to improve your drum skills here in Oahu. YouTube videos are great, but nothing compares to an actual teacher who can assess your progress, which videos can never do.When I began taking lessons with Beck, I had never played the drums. Beck is an excellent teacher/instructor. His instruction is explicit, and the examples and supplemental materials he provides are constructive. More importantly, he listens and understands your needs and never forces anything that can get overwhelming. On top of that, Beck is a working musician and has been in the industry for many years. He still performs at local live events and shows throughout Hawaii, especially in Oahu. Although I am new to drums, I am not new to music. I studied music in college and have played other instruments since childhood. However, for various reasons, I have had issues with the performance aspect of music in the past. After college, my path led me away from music for many years. Years later, after recovering from mental health issues, it was recommended that I get back to the things I enjoy, which in my case was music. Drums were something I wanted to learn, so I went for it. Beck modified and catered for my lessons from day one to fit my needs. I am now much more confident in my performance; he has helped restore my passion for music.I've endured many challenges in my life. Still, I've had excellent teachers, mentors, and coaches along the way to guide me, and I would not be where I am today without them. Beck's knowledge and guidance have been invaluable in my musical growth.I learned sometime after college that places and institutions are great not on the name alone but because of the people that reside in them. We are fortunate to have an outstanding musician like Beck here in Oahu to share with us his knowledge and passion for music and drumming. Hawaii is a better place because of it.

I reached out to Beck via a craigslist posting after watching the lesson promo video on his website. I myself am not a drummer, so I decided to sign my drummer-friend (whom I've been playing music with for 4 years) up for a one hour drum lesson as a surprize gift; to see if there was some things that Beck could maybe fix. I accompanied my drummer-friend during his lesson with Beck and observed.The lesson that I witnessed was fantastic. Beck was prompt (as were we), effective and thorough at using the time we had to teach, instruct, guide, explain, and demonstrate things clearly without being hasty or esoteric. After the lesson, as we were returning to the car, my drummer-friend looked like he just had a life-changing experience -- he could see clearly now! Driving home he was fired up to relook at old material, tackle new material, and started expressing how things were starting to make a lot of sense now thanks to Beck and his lesson. Now that my drummer-friend has new clarity on the drums (which he's been playing for 20+ years), I'm looking forward to our next gig together! Thanks Beck.

Been on my second lesson with Beck, absolutely enjoy the class! He goes over the essential fundamentals and technique so that you start off in the correct manner. In addition the structure of each lesson is fun and leaves you motivated towards self improvement after class. Need a drum instructor? Beck is your guy.

I found out about Becks while looking at drum lessons in Honolulu through yelp. I looked at a few of his songs and lesson videos on his website and decided to go in for a lesson. He is a very informative and experienced drum instructor who has clearly taught many many drummers how to play. Players with ALL levels of drumming experience will benefit from lessons with him. Great to work with and extremely knowledgeable. I will definitely be back again!

I've been a student of Beck for about 6 months now and, I have to say that he's been a great teacher and friend! I've had many bad teachers in the past who made me quit learning music. Beck is different. He encourages and nurtures you to learn and grow as a person and musician. He breaks down complicated subjects to bite size lessons that anyone can understand. I like that he is well organized, has a lesson plan, and works at the student's pace! He's definitely worth every penny for the level of experience, education and skill he provides. He has an incredibly wide range of musical knowledge that spans from hard rock to modern pop to soft jazz. I highly recommend him for students of all ages and skill levels.

Beck has been teaching drumming to my son for about 1.5 years. He is great with my son, very positive, very encouraging and at the same time he is challenging him to do his best. My son made a lot of progress in drumming and he always is looking forward to the lessons. His interest in drumming really deepened during this time. I'm very glad we found Beck!

Recently started taking drum lessons with George and have been enjoying the process so far! I'm a complete beginner and wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and take up drum lessons after wanting to learn for so long.George is incredibly patient and tailors his teaching methods to how I learn. As a beginner, the greatest gift an instructor can offer aside from the lesson itself is cultivating an environment that encourages both learning and play - and he does it well! He's incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about his craft and breaks things down so a beginner like me can understand. If you're looking for a drum instructor, look no further!

Beck is a rare find! My son was in search of someone who could teach and bring him to the next level as a drummer. Beck has done that and more, expertly passing on his passion and technique, exceeding expectations. Results came quickly and have continued to build. If you're serious about improving your skill and musicianship, you can't go wrong with Beck! He is highly professional and easy to work with.

I have been taking drum lessons with Beck since February of this year, and can confidently say he is a wonderful teacher! He is super flexible with scheduling but also with your needs as a student. He meets you where you are at, stressing technique and laying the foundation but also makes it fun by picking songs you know and like to play along with. He wants to see you succeed and is genuinely excited for you when you have a break through! I highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn and/or become more proficient on the drums.

Beck is a great teacher and is excellent at educating in sound fundamentals, spotting and correcting problems in gripping or techniques and breaking down and explaining the various aspects of how to play different songs and can teach you whatever songs or type of music you would like to play. Also, he makes learning fun! I feel very fortunate to have found him and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a drum teacher.
