Sooz and Richard's lovely seaside property was the venue for my sister's and brother in law's wedding 10 years ago and again last week for their wedding vow renewal. Both occasions did not disappoint. They are such wonderful hosts and make you feel like you're truly enjoying your celebration in private right next to the ocean. I highly recommend them and their lovely locale, The Bayer Estate for your event!

The Bayer Estate is nothing shy of fabulous! We had our wedding there (40 people, half from Vancouver, half from Melbourne) a month ago and it was perfect. If you're looking for something other than a cookie cutter, hotel/resort wedding, check this place out. Sooz and Linda are absolutely amazing and attentive to your every need and this two story historic home has so much character. The front and back yards both have a bar set up and the back yard comes out onto the beach and you get married in front of the ocean. Every guest at my wedding said they'd never been to a wedding so lovely.

when describing a place like the Bayer Estate, "quaint" just doesn't quite cut it. for small, "early-ish" gatherings (under 100 people), this is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.... such as, a wedding, which many folks reserve this place for. stepping in the doors, you'll appreciate the old country style of the house. there are high ceilings, with sturdy dark wood construction, and antique furniture. i feel like i fell directly into someone's pinterest board for "Old country livin". there's even a friendly old dog that does nothing but laze around... its probably his job to do such, in order to add to the charm of the place. but really, the house itself is beautiful. so beautiful in fact that they shoot Hawaii Five-0 here (you might recognize it as McGarrett's house). the owners of the property will definitely work this into the conversation, should you inquire about the home ;)not only that, it is historical as well. the website doesnt tell you too, too much, but if you talk to the owners, they're glad to fill you in if you're interested. i suggest asking them about the history of the house. it really is interesting. the property is surrounded by lush plants and trees, and when you make your way out to the large back yard area, it opens up right on to the beach. "ridiculously picturesque" is one way to describe it..... you might note that i mentioned earlier that this is good for early gatherings.... if you're thinking of hosting a function here, keep in mind, your time there will depend on what kind of function you're planning on having. checking out their website, weddings can be reserved for blocks of time ranging from 1 and a half hours, or up to 8 and a half hours, depending on which block you want.... but they are specific, so you're going to have to plan around their time-table.... which only extends till 9pm. if it is simply for a special event (non-wedding), there is a 3 hour minimum, for anytime between 9am - 9pm. you can bring in your own catering / food / booze, so you do not need to go with a specific caterer like some places. parking is limited, so keep this in mind as well.... if you're looking for something different, and crazy memorable, this is something that should be on your list of places to consider for your wedding or special occasion.....

We got married here and it was absolutely perfect! If you have a group of 50 or less, I highly recommend the Bayer Estate for almost any function. It's an old craftsman-style home with a backyard that faces the ocean, which created a beautiful, dramatic backdrop for our wedding. It might seem expensive, but it's worth every penny for a place that's really unique, intimate and breathaking compared to other wedding venues in Hawaii.Susan runs the place and she's really cool.

My sister was recently married here and this venue was amazing! Apart from the decor and location (beautiful private beachfront) Linda went above and beyond to help with any little details needed, including changing all the layout of the wedding beforehand in case it rained! Such a special place!

A quaint and gorgeous location for a small sized wedding. Quiet with the beach right in the backyard. You can't ask for a more tranquil setting.I was just a guest at the wedding so unfortunately I don't have any price information or input on booking and coordinating, but if you're having a small destination wedding on the islands, I'd recommend looking into this place!

A nice lovely place on the South Shore and in Hawaii Kai. This is used primary for special events and weddings, but did you know that the Bayer Estate is also used for scenes in Hawaii Five-0 and that it serves as the McGarrett House? The owners are pretty nice and welcoming too. Just might be a good idea to call them ahead of time and let them know you are coming if you plan on stopping by.

Management and pricing and cleanliness. I never write reviews but I wanted to be candid with my experience for future brides and grooms to be! So our wedding was a 5/5 experience but management is definitely old school and could use a lot of work. There is no texting, only a landline, and an email to work with. Good luck reaching anyone via email. To have a 6 hour wedding with 50 people, it costs roughly 10k for the space (about average when you factor in lighting, furniture and seating at other venues) but you have to pay for you own prep time. Only an hour is complimentary, so if you want to add any personal touches at all you basically need to pay for that time. Considering you're paying 10k, the fact that one is not allowed to leave decor at the venue is super unreasonable. There was no event going on the day prior except for our own rehearsal. So we were to bring everything we could on our own day of, and beg our wedding planner to help. They claimed it was for "liability purpose" yet I was allowed to leave my dress grossing 2800 at the venue and not my $10 box of flowers... and the lightning that was already hanging cost $750 to allegedly rehang. Who knows why that needed $750. There were claims that there was not enough space to leave any belongings or purchase enough chairs for my guests, but from what I can see it's just badly organized. There's a massive stack of CDs in front of the bridal room coated with so much dust you can barely read the titles. There's all kinds of knick knacks everywhere by the piano. The dust in the bridal room is bore line scary when you look closely, the chandelier had dead flowers and cobwebs. The frames are coated with dust. Again, the wedding itself was beautiful but for 10k you'd think someone could be paid $200 to come in there to clean. I sincerely have no idea what my 10k went towards since the Morgage on the house is non existent according to Zillow. Emails were rarely answered in a timely manner, which is tough if you're a bride organizing almost everything. and their sweet sweet dog who was advertised as a ring bearer apparently only performed this service one time prior and got side tracked and pulled my flower girl into the bushes. I love that kind of silliness and don't blame the dog one bit. But it certainly feels like false advertising to say that this dog is willing to do the service but come day of my planner told me of all the weddings she'd aided there, she's never seen it happen once. We had a great wedding, but it's massively overpriced for how little effort is going in on the home owner's end. A beautiful scam. 3 stars for my guest's wonderful experience but not to my own chaotic one.

Sooz and Richard are incredible. The Bayer Estate transports you back to old Hawaii, with a beautifully crafted historic home, sanctuary lawn, and an inviting atmosphere that embraces you with Aloha. You'll hear stories about Hawaii 5-0 filming on location, but the star-studded notoriety pales in comparison to the way Sooz and Richard make you feel at home, whether it's your wedding, special event, birthday party, or other intimate occasion.Steps from the water, you can hear and feel the ocean lapping at the shore while you enjoy the sunset on the sand or watch a movie under the stars. And be prepared to have fun, because Sooz and Richard know how to throw a party. The 60s party is one of our particular favorites! Finally, Yogi will be there to greet you, tail wagging and a gentle smile on his adorable face...This is our absolute favorite place for an event, with Auntie and Uncle we adore...We so recommend checking out the place for yourself!
