This is definitely a jewel amongst the rocks. Despite being right next to a popular tourist attraction, Germaine's Luau, the surrounding area is an industrial park. Once you get through it, it's beautiful and stunning. This time around I didn't get in the water to judge coral, sand, and clarity, but the view in and of itself was stunning. You can walk a few minutes down towards Waianae where you can see the beach front of Germaine's up until you get to the lighthouse which makes for a beautiful walk. There is plenty of picnic tables, however, the grass in the center was shredded leaving a large area of red dirt. Be cautious with the clothes you may be wearing as to not stain it.

On Memorial Day, Ewa beach park was a bit too crowded... everyone still social distanced, but for noon, it only meant more were likely still to arrive... headed to Barber's Point instead... gorgeous alternative with about a dozen families on the entire stretch of beach. It was a beautiful beach to sunbathe and fish at the same time. Another family there ended up catching 3 fish while we watched! Made me wish we brought our poles, haha. We'll be back to make this our go to fishing cove. #barberspointbeach #socialdistancing2020 #hinewnormal

I wanted to check out a few lighthouses during my trip to Oahu and saw Barber's Point recommended by some photography sites. I was coming down from the North Shore via Kapolei and Barber's Point was a short drive away. With industrial sites dotting the road to the beach park, this wasn't the typical path you'd find when approaching the coast. Yes, there seemed to be some encampments in the parking lot, but I went here on my own during the mid-afternoon and felt safe. Parking was easy and everyone was minding their own business, whether fishing, sitting on the sand reading, or snapping photos. The beach path is somewhat narrow and gets rockier the closer you are to the water, so be careful walking. The walk up to the lighthouse especially pretty at dusk. While you can't go inside the lighthouse and the only activity in the area is Germaine's Luau, I enjoyed walking, sitting, and people watching at Barber's Point. It was not crowded at all making it a nice change of pace from Waikiki. Being off the tourist grid, it's a great spot for taking photos and relaxing for a bit. So, if you find yourself in this part of the island, make a quick stop to enjoy the view!

Karen is such an enthusiastic and positive person! She can somehow get me to do something that I had no intention of doing! LOL! For example, this Barbers Point Lighthouse was not on my list of Places to See. I knew that she was talking about it because her husband, Ken, is really interested in visiting every lighthouse that they can. Karen described how she contacted someone who had visited this lighthouse and "lived to tell the tale"... hahaha! I had a mental block about the surrounding area and the distance between Barbers Point and Honolulu. Karen didn't ask me to take her, but I knew that we could go quickly since it wasn't traffic time and it was a sunny day with good weather. I understood that it meant a lot for Karen and Ken to see this special Hawaiian landmark. .. so, I said, "Let's go now!"And it turned out better than I imagined! It only took about a half hour to get there. We used GPS and found the lighthouse easily. Luckily, a gate to Germaine's Luau was open and no one was around to prevent us from entering! We drove through the parking lot to be as close to the lighthouse as possible and got our photos! Mission accomplished! On the way back to the car, we talked about the significance of lighthouses. ..and how we as friends can be lighthouses for each other. Sometimes we are searching for something and our friends can be great guides for us!One of the best illustration of this (to me) was in the movie, "La La Land". The main characters really helped each other out! Remember the stained glass window that was above Ryan Gosling when he played the piano? Remember the name of the jazz cafe that he and Emma Stone went to?Go see the movie and we can discuss! !! ;)

Four stars for its accessibility and sunset views. There are far nicer beaches (that are not located next to junk car yards and other industrial businesses) for you to swim and tan at. This one is special to us as it's just a 20 minute drive from our Ewa Beach home where we can catch the sun setting into the ocean without having to drive north shore during the summer months. Located right in front of Germain's luau, I can't even begin to imagine what the hordes of Waikiki tourists must think as they drive through the industrial park to get there. Must get 'em plenty drunk on dem buses!

This one is really tucked away in a completely industrial area. As you drive down the only road to this place, it's tucked right next to the Germaine's Luau on a rocky beach. In fact , the only way to get to this lighthouse is to walk thru the park and veer on the beach in the right (watch the rocks) and go behind the luau until you reach the lighthouse. Lighthouse is plain , simple and the beach to reach it is pretty much unusable . The beach area directly to the left is gorgeous however. Just a nice side trip to snap a picture, not much else there or anything else to do . There are many signs posted to stay off of the Germaine's Luau property.

I've actually never been to this beach park before. It was suggested by a photographer for a recent family portrait session. It was a bit of a drive from where I live but we ended up with amazing sunset photos. The first thing I noticed was that there were some homeless people living in their cars in the parking lot, but they were minding their own business.Once you get to the beach if you take a right turn you can walk toward the lighthouse. It's really a beautiful lighthouse and there are nice areas in the sand in which to get amazing photography. We also had a beautiful rainbow that appeared during our visit. During the winter months the sunset here is very beautiful. The beach was very peaceful and calm, and uncrowded. I'm glad we came!

Nice beach park area with shoreline that has a concrete pier that's busted up but still able to fish from just be cautious. Has a public restrooms area and a small parking lot. Parking is about 1-200 yards from the shoreline so keep your valuables with you. Also it's next to a metal shredder yard so there's a harsh metal smell in the air . Other than that check it out and see what you think ! Aloha

Not the nicest of beaches, but it's a clean beach with rest rooms next to a Germaine's Luau. There's a lot of sand and rocks but not a great area to swim in.

Talk about a hidden gem! My husband was born and raised on Oahu and I've lived here for 11 years but never knew about The Barber Point Lighthouse until a military friend who just moved here posted pictures of it on her Facebook. After seeing her pictures I was determined to check it out for myself but the other Yelpers' reviews had my second guessing myself.First...you don't need to trespass onto Germaine's Luau property. Veer left into the lot and follow the beach towards the lighthouse. It's literally a 5 minute walk on the beach. How can that not be enjoyable???Second...we didn't notice any "inside of a butthole" smell as one Yelper complained of. Third...there wasn't just one broken picnic table. There were at least 3 intact picnic tables nestled along a palm tree lined beach.Fourth...there was a lot more sand area than we thought there was going to be AND it was clean. It's not necessarily the most kid friendly, but on a calm day kids can play in the water. In fact, my kids and another family frolicked for a bit.Fifth...when we first got there we didn't see any signs of "sketchy people." HOWEVER, as we were leaving we definitely saw them near the showers, bathroom and lot. Nobody bothered us and I see 100x that amount of sketchy people at Ala Moana Beach Park. All in all... not a magnificent beach but not the worst either. Definitely worth a trip to check out the lighthouse and collect seashells.
