Looking for a late nite dessert, this would be your go to place, parking is a wee tight as there are many restaurants in the strip mall, but head up to the 2nd floor look for the test kitchen (ewa side) and bakery is right by the door. Owner greets you immediately and very personable. We didn't know what to order so he gave us some info on his baked goods. We ordered the Horchata and Matcha cheesecake it was not as light as other japanese cheesecake but not dense like american kind. What surprised us was it wasn't sweet and enjoyed it. Ask for whipped cream topping (owner whips up his own cream so not sweet). We also took home some cupcakes Lemon, Strawberry, Chocolate, we watched as he prepared each cupcake individually. The frosting a wee bit dense for us, but cupcake was just right not too light and not to dense. Flavors were difinitely great. There is seating and atmosphere is definitely food court, but at least they have seating for patrons.

The craving for dessert struck us late one night in Waikiki. This was only a few minutes away and were racing the clock. The place is secluded on the far end of a food area on the second floor. Make a left out the elevator and you'll see it. Oh, parking can be a challenge as the strip hosts multiple businesses. Once inside we met the baker. He is professionally trained in French delicacies and his product reflects it! The Ube cheesecake was light and airy. Not for the one that wants a powerful sweetness expectation. The vanilla cheesecake was very much the same. Definitely an option for the next dessert craving. The owner is a very personable and friendly! Come check it out!

Outstanding service and desserts from Bronson today! I believe first impressions are very important and my first impression of Bake N Break is an excellent one. Hubby and I were out and about in the Mccully area today and finally had a chance to check out the test kitchen in Mccully shopping center. Our first stop was this gem of a bakery. We got there before 12pm, which is there open time, and saw Bronson busy decorating a cake. He greeted us was a lot of Aloha. We chatted for a bit and he told me that they were out of a few things but there were still lots of yummy things to try. Since we hadn't eaten yet I didn't want to go too crazy with the treats. We got a strawberry cupcake and on original cheescake. Let me just say WOW! When I tell you that cupcake was soft that is just the beginning. It basically melted in my mouth. The cream was delicious and tasted just like fresh strawberry. Bronson did make it a point to let me know that this particular cupcake was dairy free along with several other flavored cupcakes they offered. It was topped with fresh strawberry and had a small amount of strawberry jam inside. It was amazing! The chesscake was Japanese style. It was light and fluffy an oh so good.Thank you Bronson for making such an awesome first impression. I will be back for sure!

Dessert in Honolulu, Hawaii...I was first introduced to Bake N Break at the Progressive Dinner at McCully Shopping Center. We visited five different small businesses for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The last stop was on the upper level at The Test Kitchen. We were told that Bake N Break got its name because Bronson is a break dancer! Cool, huh?Anyway - Bronson is a very pleasant and friendly business owner. He described each dessert with great detail. At The Progressive Dinner, we had a special Lemon Cupcake which was a replica of the type of cake he can create for a special occasion. Wow! Fancy! The Special Lemon Cupcake was beautifully layered and tasty - with little crunchy pieces of bursts of flavor! I wanted to go back and try other items! This evening, Peter, Paul, and I had a chance to try different things. I had a taste of Paul's Matcha Souffle Cheesecake - it definitely had a matcha essence! I chose the Strawberry cupcake because the frosting is vegan (for those of us who are lactose intolerant) and because it would look great in a photo! It was delicious, soft, moist, and not too sweet! Thanks, Peter! Cony enjoyed the cupcake, too!I was also tempted by the Red Velvet cupcake, but Bronson gave us a sample from a full sized cake he was trimming. Thank you! I think next time, I'll take my lactose pills and have the Chantilly cupcake... and the Oreo one, too!

Follow the leader. While hanging out with friends this past Saturday, I was asked my plans for the night and I replied "Bleach." Someone thought I was going to bleach my hair, which is something I have yet to do and to be frank, I'm game to try it. However, I mentioned my plans to do laundry, which let out good laughs.Test Kitchen (TK) was suggested for dinner and dessert, and I've been wanting to check it out. After sending a text to some friends, I got lured away from house chores to explore new places. As we arrived McCully Shopping Center (MSC), we made our way to the 2F to TK. At that time, Auntie (Nadine C.) gave Peter Y. and me a tour of the 4 vendors occupying TK. One of them is Bake N Break (BNB), a unique name for a business, baking sweet treats, including dairy free, vegan, and NY style bagels. They had their soft opening on 7/15/2022. You see, earlier in the week, Auntie came to MSC for a progressive dinner and in one of the stops was BNB, where Auntie highly spoke of. She introduced me to Bronson, the owner/baker and how the business was named as he's also a break dancer. So cool. I immediately checked out their chiller, which has assorted cupcakes, but my eyes landed on the Japanese soufflé cheesecakes on the bottom shelf as well as the red velvet cupcakes. We needed to eat dinner first, so we came back later. After eating dinner, it was time for dessert, and I got the matcha soufflé cheesecake. Compared to NY style cheesecake, this was not as dense, but I had envisioned a fluffier version. Nonetheless, this was delicious as it had a cheesecake consistency, and the match flavor came through. I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. I was so pleased with the cheesecake that I ended up getting extra cheesecakes to drop off at my sister's home for them to enjoy. Auntie and Peter let me try their cupcakes (dairy free lemon and dairy free strawberry) and they were also delicious. I was surprised with both dairy free cupcakes as the flavor and texture weren't compromised. To our delight, Bronson was assembling a red velvet cake and he offered us some cake shavings that was yummy. I can see myself ordering red velvet cupcakes or ordering a whole red velvet cake in the future.Overall, a very satisfied first experience at BNB where I will be back. I was impressed with what I sampled and pairing it with Bronson's great customer service and witnessing the passion for his business, BNB is worthy of a repeat visit.

After grabbing some 'ono dinner at Jinya - we decided to make our way to McCully Shopping Center. We heard about this foodie-type of incubator and decided to give it a try. I was definitely craving something sweet and found this dope spot, Bake 'n Break. The gentleman who served us happened to be the owner of the shop and is extremely friendly, especially with his dope, blue hair. You can find the incubator on the top floor of the shopping center, more towards the left. They have plenty of seating inside so you can sit comfortably, in A/C, and enjoy your meal. We decided to try their Ube-Cheesecake Soufflé and it was soooo 'onoooo! I can't wait to make it out here again to try their other pastries and delicious treats.Right before we left - he was preparing a fresh batch of his signature cupcakes. Luckily for us - he let us try his "lemon crack" speciality toppings and it was sooo good. Love it!

I've enjoyed Japanese souffle cheesecakes in Tokyo and Toronto before, but I haven't found them in Hawaii until now. If you're looking for a different kind of dessert that's light, fluffy, and NOT overly sweet, the souffle cheesecakes here are absolutely worth a try!Typical American cheesecakes are dense and heavy, but not Japanese souffle cheesecakes. Their texture and density are closer to sponge cakes and castellas, but slightly lighter and airier. I always feel like I'm eating a cloud when enjoying Japanese cheesecakes, which is a nice feeling as opposed to feeling heavy and lethargic after American cheesecake. We tried the original, ube, matcha, and hojicha cheesecake flavors. I was SUPER happy they had all these Asian flavors, especially hojicha, which I don't see quite as often. All of the flavors were light and sweet. You don't feel like you're going to get diabetes from eating this, but there's still enough sweetness to make it a delicious dessert. If you're someone that LOVES rich and decadent desserts, you'd be better off choosing another one of their baked goods instead of their light cheesecakes. The cheesecakes are pricier compared to other dessert options, but the high quality is worth the price if you're looking to treat yourself to something special!
