People in the reviews often complain that hotels are outdated or have permanent residents living there in addition to hotel guests. If you want something more upscale and modern there are several other properties to choose from. A lot of hotels are converted apartment buildings or dorms that we remodeled into hotels to accommodate growing tourist population. The Banyan is located within walking distance from Waikiki beach on Ohua Avenue. It's literally like a 5 minute walk. Super convenient. The ocean is visible from the front of the hotel. It's moderately priced compared to surrounding hotels. We were greeted with an open lobby and koi fish pond with waterfall. The staff were friendly and answered any questions without hesitation. We were given shell leis as a welcome, the lay of the land, and directions for parking. There are 2 towers, an attached parking structure, a pool, bbq grills, laundry service, and a even has a small market and coffee shop near the lobby (pretty good coffee and pastries). We never got to utilize the pool. It was a little small and always packed with kids/families. Didn't bother us any since we came for the beach life anyways. If we stay here again we might bbq and hang at the pool in the afternoon when the beaches get crowded. Our room was in tower II on the 20th floor. We didn't get a beach view, but the mountain view was still beautiful. The room had an island with plenty of stools separating the kitchen from the living room. The room decor and furnishings were outdated but not old and ugly looking. There was a sliding door you could use to close off the bedroom if you chose. AC unit is located in the living room so we left the room open. King bed with dressers and a small closet were available for clothes. Bathroom sink and mirror viewable from bedroom. Closed off toilet and shower. Complimentary bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were attached to the shower wall. Plenty of extra towels. The space was fairly clean except for the couch which for some reason had visible dirt and maybe particles from the ceiling. We didn't watch TV so sitting on the couch wasn't for us anyways. The balcony had a small corner style table with two chairs which was nice to use at night to have a drink and enjoy the warm evening air to end the day. The view from the 20th floor was spectacular when you look straight out on the horizon, but we had a little bit of vertigo when looking down.People in the reviews often complain that hotels are outdated or have permanent residents living there in addition to hotel guests. If you want something more upscale and modern there are several other properties to choose from. A lot of hotels are converted apartment buildings or dorms that we remodeled into hotels to accommodate growing tourist population. In addition, spaces are made available to purchase as rental property. Not one resident bothered me so I'm not complaining about it. People have a right to live where they want. Our 4 night, 5 day stay was overall pleasant. We left with no major complaints and would consider staying at The Banyan again. Check out was super easy. We were able to check out via text and be on our way without hassle.Plus: there were extra rolls of toilet paper, tissue boxes, and towels in the bathroom cabinet. I took note of that the first night, because I'm not a fan of having to request a roll of tp one at a time from the front desk or tracking down any other staff.Con: really wish there was a small gym. I would have appreciated even just a small fitness room to access dumbbells for a workout.Con: having to pay a daily rate for parking. I understand that a lot of hotels charge for parking. However, this was the first time that I've come across a parking fee on top of a daily resort fee.

Gosh the ELEVATORS here are TERRIBLE. If you end up staying here due to the proximity to the main drag in Waikiki, be warned. Our room was so HOT for the Winter months. I know Hawaii weather is humid throughout the year but this was crazy. The bedroom was really small. Safety was another reason we didn't care staying here. We were put right across the way from the elevators, definitely not safe if you have kids. My favorite part about staying here is the vicinity to the beach, the zoo, and restaurants. Parking here is also a challenge. Instead of trying to squeeze into a smaller spot near the lower levels, drive to the top. There's a lot more space for the larger cars or for those who need more space to get out of their cars.

Let me start with the positive:-- The staff is great. Courteous and always willing to help. Always prompt in assisting.--- Ideal location. Walking distance from the beach, shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs.-- Breath-taking view! (depending on what room you get)-- Decent price.... which means you get what you pay for.Now let's get to the bad:-- The hotel is falling apart. It looks like parts of it have not been renovated for decades. Apparently it's a condominium hotel, so each unit is owned by a different person. So the condition of each room will differ depending on what the owner does to it. It's a flip of a coin of whether you get a decent room or a shitty one. The photos in the listing show the beautiful lobby and the best rooms, but obvoisy they do not show the bad ones. The curtains are frayed. The TV is tiny. The decor is probably from the late 70s.Even the parts that should be run by the hotel, the elevator and the hallways, are a disaster. The elevator is missing buttons. The hallways look like they are under renovation but I didn't not see renovation actually taking place. Masking tape everywhere, missing moulding, chipped paint. In conclusion, it's great if you are on a budget and don't care about aesthetics or cleanliness.

Waikiki Banyan Condos 1502-2https://abnb.me/3LIIrnN2EqbJust finished a 2 week stay in Tower 2, Unit 1502 and the unit was newly remodeled with everything one can imagine you would need. On this trip, everything was brand new, appliances, furniture, linens, and some beach accessories were still wrapped in plastic. From all the comments in the Facebook groups and discussion forums about accommodations in Hawaii, if you book your room at the Waikiki Banyan through Aston Hotel Management, expect to pay $30 daily for parking and $25 daily resort fees. So, $55 plus taxes daily will be added to your hotel bill at checkout. Also, you get whatever room is available in their hotel pool so not necessarily the unit in their photos. Booking through AirBnB, FREE parking is included, no resort fees and you get the unit exactly what you see in their listing photos. You get to read feedback about that unit and owner as well. I suggest booking through AirBnB directly with the owner or their property manager and get a better value (like this unit).

I feel like the rest of the recent reviewers of this establishment. I feel like it was a bait and switch based on the photos that were on the website. The price is cheap enough but you get what you pay for.Let's start in the kitchen, everything is outdated. The laminate countertops are stained, the barstool had a nasty tear where the foam was coming out of the chair. It's big enough just needs a lot of TLC!The main living area, same issue with the sleeper sofa as other had. Looked very sketch. Only the couch and one chair to sit out. Very outdated "island" looking furniture. The bedroom area again was huge bed was hard as nails and the linens are paper thin almost non-existent.The bathroom area is just plain small. We did the pool and like others said, a bunch of unattended kids there. Absolutely no shade, so we baked while waiting for our rooms to get ready. Kids all hung out by the small stairs into the pool and had to be asked repeatedly to move so we could access.Definitely will not stay here again!

This place ruined my vacation. Roaches everywhere!I booked 2 double bed rooms for my family. When I arrived I was given one double room and one single room with a fold up twin bed that had been rolled in. The bed had roaches so I called the front desk and asked for another room. They sent "ecolab" to the room and later told me that they didn't front anything... Room number 2 had the same problem. At this point, I spoke with a manager who told me that "it was impossible for both rooms to have an infestation". So I asked her to have one of her employees to come check the room for themselves. (This is after already showing her 2 videos and a photo). I get a call from my family in the other room and they have roaches too. The 2 employees she sends are completely grossed out after visiting both rooms. They call the manager to tell her what they saw (so much for ecolab) and I go back to the front desk. She has a very bad attitude and tells me that she can cancel my last night and refund the one night price. Absolutely horrible customer services and a disgusting amount of roaches.Which last the whole trip by the way. No getting away from roaches or getting any kind of hospitality here. Definitely avoid if you can.

We are currently staying at the Aston Banyan Waikiki Hotel until Wednesday, and we have had a few issues so far. Despite booking a king bedroom, we arrived to find that the room had been converted into two twin beds pushed together, which was not what we expected. Additionally, the security guard at the parking garage was rude and even cursed at us on our first day. These problems have significantly impacted our experience, despite other aspects of the hotel being acceptable.

NO WATER WITHOUT WARNINGDO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACEIf you're planning on staying in Waikiki do not stay here.1.) Water ShutoffsFrequent water shutoffs happen in this building. It's inconvenient but you get used to it, but today was the last straw. Usually there is signs on the elevator walls, or a notice stuck to each room door notifying you of the water shutoffs the day before, but today I woke up to find there was NO WATER. still as of now there is no water so we can't shower, wash, or do anything. NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN TO US.After contacting security they said water was shut off 9-4 today, gave us the contact of person in charge and they flat-out lied saying everyone was notified and water shut off is 8am-3.Not only are they lying about notifying everyone, they also changed the time of the water shut off on the day. How are you supposed to prepare. Not to mention today is my birthday and it is COMPLETELY RUINED. 2.) Elevators Elevators take 20-30 mins, even out of the rush hour ( check-in / check-out times) everyone is crammed into each elevator and there's no AC, then it stops at every floor and is a nightmare to use every time.3.) LaundryLaundry is located on every floor, but they often break and just the day before the dryer I was using wasn't warm inside and our laundry was still drenched! Not to mention the money doesn't get returned to you. What a scam!4.) Recreation facilities If you're planning on using recreation facilities while you're on a vacation stay away from here! The only thing working is the pool. The hot tub has cockroaches crawling beside it which would put any one off entering it.Sauna is closed and is likely to not reopen anytime this year apparently!5.) Fire AlarmsHow could I forget the noisy alarms that go off!Last week a fire alarm went off at 3:30 am in the morning! As you get used to the alarms you realise there is no need to go down to the lobby every time and just stay in the room, but I feel bad for the people that woke up and went all the way down. The alarms go off on the middle of the night, early in the morning, afternoon. Can't even take a phone call or get good sleep without being interrupted by them. There's so much more but this should be enough for you to reconsider staying here...
