A friend planned our Christmas luncheon here and I was excited because I haven't been here for 20+ years. She did confirm when she made the reservation that the waiter can write separate checks but when our waiter was about to take our order, we mentioned it and at first, he didn't look happy. He did explain that he'll put all our orders together on one so the food will be prepared and served simultaneously instead of separate times. He will then figure out our separate totals when we're done...yay!Here's what we ordered, all with linguine pasta :- Friend #1: Chicken Anchovy Olio - Large portion $31.90 but substituted the Chicken with 5 Scallops for $8 more. Said scallops is her favorite and it was good!- Friend #2: Shrimp Alla Francese - Large portion $36.90 (6 shrimps). She enjoyed it and so did her husband who ate her leftovers.- Friend #3: Calamari Steak Sauce - Large portion $31.90 (2 calamari steaks). Calamari was kind of hard to cut with the butter knife but she said it was good. The calamari wasn't rubbery but she had softer ones at other restaurants. She would try something else if she returned.- Me: I ordered my favorite dish...Chicken Alla Saltimbocca Romana - Large portion $34.90 (2 boneless chicken breast). I thought it was good but it doesn't beat my favorite Italian restaurant located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center. I would order something else if I return. I also ordered the Fried Calamari Legs appetizer $14.90 for us to share. We thought the legs were rubbery. Looked it up on Google...states it was overcooked. Wouldn't order this again. We all ordered the large portion so we could have leftovers for the husbands. As for me, my husband can't have cheese so my leftovers lasted me for 2 more meals. This place is located in Ala Moana Shopping Center on the lower level below Macy's. I want to say there's lots of parking spaces but good luck finding one since Ala Moana is always crowded.

Last night I took my wife and sister in law to dinner as we were celebrating the coming of the New Year. I'm sadden to take a couple of notches off my original post. To start I ordered a Lavaflow to toast in the New Year. It was pretty to look at, but flavorless. My Ceasars salad was the same.As for my entree Calimari Ala Parmigiana. There was not a hint of garlic in the sauce. Tasted like tomato sauce straight out of the can. The saving grace for this dish was the tender Calimari. Service was pleasant . They never came to ask if we wanted a beverage or water refill. I hope this will change so I can give this restaurant a higher rating. Enjoy

I used to go to this restaurant in Kapolei for special occasions. We were celebrating the special occasion and our host decided to have it at this restaurant, located at the mall. Our Server was friendly. My complaints are that when dropping off our food, they were reaching over people to the other side of the table to place plates or hand to the customer. When they could simply walk around and place the plate in front of the customer. It was so odd and it was done more than a couple times. Enough for our host to say something about it. And our food did not come out around the same time, a lot of a sat and waited. The food was good. Especially their homemade bread. My husband loved his veal. I ordered the mushroom pasta. It was basic so I was pleased, but not excited about it. I was excited about their Caesar salad. It's one of the best that I've had. This restaurant is a little bit on the expensive side so I expected better service. So I'm going to give them a four.

We came here for dinner a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. We don't usually eat pasta and go to Italian kind of restaurants. I think the last time that I went to Assagio was when it was a party for my cousin. The party was nice and they had a nice private room but the food wasn't memorable for me. I think because at the time (not sure if it's the same) there were only a few choices to choose from if having a party. I think it makes it a lot easier for the chef. We weren't exactly dressed appropriately. I had jeans and my husband had shorts. My daughter always dresses up when we leave the house so she was fine. But they didn't judge and took us in.The menu is pretty extensive with many choices for pasta and other dishes. We ended up getting calamari, Caesar salad, carbonara, shrimp marinara, and rigatoni arrabiata. The appetizers came out quick and we love their Caesar salad. It was a little spicy but it was fine and we still ate it. I love that they prepare it at your table. I got the carbonara and it was perfect. It was so good. In the past I've gotten the arrabiata but I have old lady problems now. I can't really eat spicy too much or I'll get acid reflux. Husband got the arrabiata and he loved every bite of it. My daughter got the shrimp marinara and she thought it was okay. Not really sure why she even got that since she don't like red sauce. Of course she saw me enjoying mine so she wanted some and then couldn't stop, haha. Overall it was a great dinner and hope to go back soon. Maybe we will try the one closer to our home next time.

I took the bestie out to dinner for his birthday. I didn't have a reservation, but got seated within 5 minutes. I wasn't expecting it to be so busy on a Monday night. The restaurant was actually full. The restaurant doesn't look that big from the outside. However, on the inside it can seat a decent amount of people. We ordered the table side Chicken Caesar Salad. It was a two order minimum $13.90 each. The greens were fresh and the salad was tasty. During table side service I'm used to the waiter explaining the preparation steps to us. Our waiter was silent throughout the whole preparation. I got the large Seafood Combo linguini in red sauce $35.90. My friend got the Chicken Piccata linguine $31.90. He liked his chicken pasta. My seafood pasta was ok. I've had better. The sauce was on the bland side and very one dimensional even after the waiter put on a heaping of powdered mozzarella. The seafood was fresh and I really enjoyed the huge clams. The service was good. The wait staff checked on us throughout the night and kept the water glass full.

I love this place! I've been eating here since I was a kid and it's still so great! Make sure you make a reservation to avoid wait times or not getting sat! the ambiance is busy and upbeat with a family style kind of vibe. As for the food, I have no complaints! Everything was good! It's not upscale Italian food so don't expect one singular sprout to be on your 1/2 cup of noodles ok..... Here, you will get huge portions of great PASTA! Speaking of great... the SEAFOOD! The seafood here is awesome, specially the scallops!

We went to Assaggio (gosh, I keep misspelling it, haha) last night for a friend's birthday. Salads, anti-pasto, pastas, lasagna were all enjoyed. They were even gracious to make my Calamari Steak House keto by substituting my pasta with portobello mushrooms. Mahalo loa nui! I really appreciated your flexibility! Even though I know your pasta is amazing, I have to do this for my health. It was SO ono! The calamari was cooked just right and kept trying to get every bit of that sauce - so good! It was a lovely birthday celebration and one to remember!

Assaggio is a family staple, and a restaurant that evokes nostalgia of my late grandmother. My grandfather chose it as the location to celebrate his 92nd birthday last week. The restaurant attracts a local crowd, and boasts an accessible, family-friendly environment. The food itself is larger portions, and spendy for what it is. The menu is quite extensive, so there is something for everyone. I am a seafood pasta girl through and through, but options like chicken, steak, and veal grace the pages of the menu. Cocktails were just ok, I would recommend wine to accompany the meal. One thing that is consistently outstanding about assaggios is the service and attentiveness of the waitstaff. They are kind and very willing to strike up conversation/assist in explaining the menu, especially to a group of 10 hungry, indecisive people.

First time here, went to all the Assiggio restaurants on the island. This is the best. The food was excellent, Service was excellent too. Waiter Jason did a great job making it comfortable and fun. Apparently the original owner that started Assiggio kept this restaurant and sold the rest. Give this place a try if you're in the Ala Moana Center, located below Macy. Aloha, Derek

We went to Assagio's for lunch, just after 11AM. The restaurant wasn't busy, and we were seated promptly. The service was a bit slow. My wife ordered a lycheetini (lychee martini) which was strong and flavorful! The bread was awesome! We had the Caesar salad for two, prepared at our table. It's always a favorite. The shrimp scampi just tasted like butter... The carbonara pasta included lots of 1/2-inch square bacon pieces and was super yummy. Out waiter never asked if we wanted another drink. Overall, solid food, linen tablecloths, and a nice environment, just below Macy's. One note: hold your breath on the way into the restaurant. It smells like rotting trash or sewage just outside.
