Venezuelan cuisine...It's so hard to miss this vibrant truck with the cute smiling Arepas flashing a Shaka holding a Venezuela flag, and this newbie is the one to find as you must follow them on Instagram @arepas_hawaii and view their stories for locations feels like an exclusive secret spot.Well I found them in Kaka'ako right beside Milky Way Truck right along side Mother Waldron Park and yes it piqued my curiosity and though I do see on their instagram with menu items including empanadas as well though today it seems to be a selected Arepas seven varieties to be exact (Pollo, Pernil, Carne Asada, Spam, Pabellon and Vegetariana). Arepas are ground corn patties grilled and typically are enjoyed like bread are stuff with various fillings and my Pollo (shredded chicken) was stuffed beyond belief along with queso cheese was so enormous she apologize as it was impossible to close the container lol!The chicken was very moist and flavorful not spicy or loaded with sauce though it's standardly comes with cheese you're able to pile on the toppings by adding extras like more cheese or four types of salsa for +$2...oh my gosh what a fun and generous portions she serves here...it's all love!Thank you!

First off...for a new truck to have prices crossed off on their menu with a sharpie then not even replace the price is tacky! Was going to order an empanada, 2 drinks and arepa but they said $38. Paid $20 for 2 drinks and 1 empanada instead. Boy o boy did I regret it!$3 for each bottle water?! So that makes the empanada $14?!....lets talk about it!I understand your an arepa truck. But this empanada seems like is made with the same dough as the arepa but just fried. It was so gross and mushy. On top of it the price that was crossed off said $7 under it. I figure, maybe price change is like....$8/$9. Sheesh $14? That's a big difference. Basically paid double. Wasn't even worth it. It was so gross and lacked any flavor. Took me 3 bites to get into the center where the meat filling was. First and last time I'll be eating here!

I haven't had great Venezuelan food like this since I left Florida 5 years ago! I love love love Venezuelan arepas and these fulfilled the craving perfectly! I got the Pabellón, which is shredded beef, sweet plantains, black beans and cheese and it was perfection. I tried just a little of the beef by itself first and it was so tender and juicy, I could just eat it over rice and be happy. I love seeing that she makes the arepas by hand to order and they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Her truck is parked at Pearlridge Mall now and I'm so happy to have arepas this good nearby. This is the place. I'm about to tell everyone I know about it

As we were driving down Kam Hwy, we noticed a few new food trucks parked by the Leonard's truck. I went to IG to see what they were and then to Yelp to check out the reviews. When I showed my husband the pictures of the arepas, we knew we just had to try them. We finally did the other night and OMG... we are hooked! We tried the chicken and pork arepas and the shredded beef empanada. Everything was so tender and delicious! You can tell it's all made from scratch and with lots of love. You definitely have to try her sauces!!! Our favorite is the cilantro garlic. I could drink it, it's so good! Their food is so good that my husband is there again to grab breakfast this time. We're hooked!

As a Venezuelan I thousand percent approve! Her arepas are huge and with so much filling. The empanadas also have a lot of filling and are also twice the size of normal empanadas so it's definately worth the price. The plates are perfection as the rice and beans are well seasoned. The carne mechada (traditional venezuelan shredded beef) is well cooked and flavor is spot on I've already been 3 times in less than a month and I'll be coming back for sure. Note: It does take a bit of time as her food is fresh, especially for the empanadas, so just know that and be patient because it's definitely worth the wait

I've been wanting to try this place for a while since is my from country of origin....... Finally went today and did not disappoint! Really good pernil arepa (roasted pork) and a chicken empanada..... pretty big size.... Go try it!!!!!

First saw this truck on Tuesday and tried the shredded beef arepa. So delicious!! And since the truck was back on Cooke Street yesterday, had to try the chicken arepa. This one was also delicious!! The shredded beef and chicken are seasoned perfectly and are tender and juicy. The sandwich may look kind of small but it's really filling. I could barely finish half of it at lunch. Reheated it for dinner and it was still delicious. Also tried the cilantro guacamole this time. Wonderful addition to the sandwich. Very worth the extra $2. Hoping the truck is back next week so I can try the plate!

This arepas made me transport for a second to my country Venezuela. The flavor is AMAZING! The service outstanding. I would recomend this place a 100%!

Chicken arepa, beef empanada, and chicken empanada were delicious. We were actually eating at the truck next door but ordered here as well and the lady brought us our order with a sauce for each empanada. Very friendly and came out pretty quick.

Food was delicious. If your looking for something new to try I'd suggest trying out this food truck. Service was nice and there is a lot of parking space around it.
