Excellent 12-piece lunch omakase experience and absolutely fresh food! I would highly recommend! Ambience is intimate and wonderful for dates. One thing to note is there are no restroom facilities connected to the restaurant. It is upstairs in the food court.

In search of an intimate sushi omakase experience? Amaterasu's omakase may just be for you. With only 7 seats at the sushi counter, you'll be served a 15-course premium omakase dinner that includes appetizer, chawanmushi, age mono, 10 pieces of nigiri, toro taky hand roll, and miso soup. If that doesn't fill you, you can order additional items from Chef Hideo.I really enjoyed my sushi experience here and appreciated that it included classics like shima aji, store and un, but also offered saba and a most delicious Kauai shrimp nigiri topped with uni garlic butter. Cost of the dinner is $150 per person and the 13-course lunch is $89. Amateras is no longer BYOB and charges a $35 corkage fee if you bring your own bottle.

We had the lunch omakase at Amaterasu, priced at $79 for 12 courses--a fantastic deal for the area. The fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful, making the experience well worth it. However, we weren't fans of the appetizer, which appeared to be salmon and was slightly dry.The restaurant is located under The Lanai food court at Ala Moana Mall, so it took a moment to find, but the effort was worth it. Service was excellent, and the chef did an amazing job crafting each course with care and attention to detail. Overall, a great spot for an affordable and high-quality omakase experience! What we had:Salmon appetizer AmberjackYellowtail (Hokkaido buri with yuzi kosho)Mackerel FlounderSteamed egg with crabmeatScallopSea snailMarinated Tuna Otoro Hokkaido uniKauai shrimp Miso soup

Congratulations on opening the new store! Now it's much convenient to visit. We enjoyed Omakase lunch. The starter was nitsuke:simmered fish. It tickled our nose and tongue. It was so good. The chef is cheerful and entertaining. We can see how much he experiments to elevate the taste of fish. I like his spirit of inquiry. His omakase is well balanced: you can enjoy sushi in several different ways, such as soy, yuzu salt, secret zuke etc. It is very satisfying Omakase even for lunch. Gochiso sama deshita.

Omakase Lunch at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii...My friend, CeCe (from Northern California), was describing a sushi place that was very popular. She said that reservations need to be made about a month ahead.I asked her if she meant Amaterasu Sushi...Yes!I told her that I recently dined there because my Lunch Buddy made a reservation on the OpenTable app.I went on to say that it was a five-star experience because of the:1. Free parking at the Mall2. Beautiful, clean, new, simple environment with 6 counter seats and 10 seats around a large table (Note: the restroom is upstairs at The Lanai Food Court)3. Superb food4. Excellent service Chef Hideo is very polite and charming! He welcomed us in - even though we were very early. I appreciated the air-conditioning! He patiently explained special items, and demonstrated precision skills and attention to details! The highlights for me were the torched items - I like the smokey essence; the chawanmushi because it's filled with delectable surprises; and of course, the famous Kauai shrimp, topped with uni-butter!I would go again for another wonderful experience!Thank you, LB!

Amaterasu Sushi has been a bookmark since they were at Velocity for the year or so that they were there. I believe they were there less than a year but hearing they opened up their own brick and mortar in Ala Moana Center right below The Lanai, I knew I had to make reservations to go. Who else better to go with than Lunch Buddy? We went for lunch after making reservations on Open Table. I mentioned I can't eat salmon in the reservations but there was a slight oversight during lunch but they made me something as a substitution right away. No biggie and the wild hamachi was amazing. The restaurant is cozy with about 6 counter seats and a dine in table that seats 10 people. Customer service was friendly and we were served everything in a timely manner. Normally at omakase meals, everyone is served at the same time but a party of 2 arrived late so they were served dishes we previously ate till they were caught up. For the time being, they are BYOB so definitely take advantage of that. They also have a promotional pricing as they just opened. Pricing may adjust accordingly once they are settled in their new location. The fish was fresh and I enjoyed everything we received. My favorites were the uni, chawanmushi and uni butter over shrimp as they were delicious! A great omakase restaurant option in Honolulu. FYI - There is an automatic 18% gratuity included in the bill

First omakase of 2025 and we decided to check out Amaterasu, now located at Ala Moana Center. Because of its new location, there is a ton of parking so you don't have to worry about that. Their counter seats 7 people but they have an extra table seating that could probably seat an extra 6-7 more (I didn't actually count the seats but it was a large table). As omakase is becoming more popular, it is highly recommended to make advanced reservations. As far as food, this is a moderately priced omakase, leaning a little towards the pricey end. However, for amount of courses and the quality of fish, I'd say it's worth it. Plus, they served my favorites including engawa and shirako. A surprising favorite was the maguro marinated in a jalapeño sauce. When you get to the temaki, the sushi chef will ask you if you prefer takuan or negi. Almost everyone that night said takuan but I wanted negi. I appreciate that the sushi chef was very meticulous and took his time preparing the dishes. I find that some omakases tend to be very rushed and we often finish earlier.

We finally made it to the brick and mortar! After being amazed by the food at the pop-up restaurant in Velocity, we have been waiting to make it back. The interior is beautifully designed and exceptionally clean. We had reservations for a 5pm seating for the omakase (150/person) and surprisingly parking was readily available directly in front. The service is smooth and the food is reminiscent of high end sushi in Japan. Everything was fresh and delicious. Even the draft beer (suntory premium malt) is dispensed from a high tech japanese tap that produces the smoothest, creamiest, sweetest head on a crisp and refreshing beer. We will definitely be back again! They even have a large table to do bigger groups if you so choose. Don't sleep on this spot!

We visited Amaterasu on New Year's Eve. I can't believe the place was a jack in the box before. This intimate sushi bar seats 6 and has a table that accommodate 10 walk-ins. Currently, there are 6pm to 830pm seating but chef said it will be 5pm to 730pm soon. Sushi selection was exquisite and the service was top notch. For dinner, we were served a 15-course omakase and the flavor profile went from light (yuzu) to stronger (miso and uni). Additional ala carte menu is also available in case you want more! In my case, I rather come back for another visit. Thanks Chef Ohmeya for a delicious to get 2025 ready! The only issue might be the bathroom as the closest one is either inside the Lanai food court on the second floor or the Hookipa Terrace one on the third floor.
