A great lunch or breakfast spot in Pioneer Plaza. There's a lot of food to choose from when you're downtown but I highly recommend the bentos and kimchi fried rice. The bentos often change but always offer a great variety at an affordable price. I have yet to try the sushi but hope to soon! The owners are also very friendly and are super fast which is convenient during the work day.

I ordered 2 each of the spicy ahi, unagi and ikura hand rolls. They were so onolicious! Lots of filling the rice is to hold it in place! It was well worth it! There is one person making the order and one person cashiering!I asked for extra wasabi and they put it on the side.I'd definitely come back!!!

Took my son to look for lunch in downtown. He wanted ramen. I told him that there's no ramen place in downtown. I told him what about udon. He said Nah. Went into Palama Express and 88 Mart. No Spam Musubis; sold out. Walked past McDonald's. He turned down Mickey D's. Walked to Pioneer Plaza and saw a photo of ramen at Aloha Sushi. We walked in and were greeted by Sue (so friendly). We ordered ramen (no vegetables, only fish cake), a Spam Hand-roll and a Hawaiian Sun Drink. While we waited Sue chatted with my son. The guy making the sushi and ramen (Simon) came out from behind the front counter to chat with us too. It's a small shop across from Seoul Kimbap. There are pre-packed bento on the right side as you enter and "fake" sushi display in the front counter. The shop is clean and well lit. Everything is displayed nicely and the menu is easy to read. As we left the owner (Sue) gave my son Pocky sticks and gave him a hug : ). So friendly. The ramen was a little spicy (Korean-style), but my son liked it. He liked the Spam hand-roll too. Thanks Sue and Simon for making my son's day. He got his ramen and Spam Musubi (hand-roll) and his tummy is happy : )

One of my favorite sushi spots in downtown! And what's more convenient is that this location is located in the lobby of the building I work in! I can literally order sushi from here everyday of the workweek. My go to order is always their dynamite maki. It's a tempura roll and it's topped with spicy ahi and is covered in a drizzling of spicy mayo aioli and I think unagi sauce. They usually have a choice of 4 or 8 pieces. They also offer a variety of bentos during their lunch hours which will satisfy anyone's craving. Their bento comes with either white, brown or, my favorite, Kim Chee fried rice. Each bento comes in a variety of different items like chicken, meat jun, fish, fried tofu and/or sushi. What makes me come back every time to this locations is not only that it's right there for me, but the owners are so nice and friendly. I always see them working hard and their hard work shows with their delicious bentos and sushi on display.

As far as I know, these are the same new owners (2019/2020) as the initial 2017 takeover, which my 2017 review was about.Everything has changed, and I am more than happy to admit when I'm wrong! Staff is now attentive, friendly, and very gracious; custom orders are very speedy; a variety of new products have been introduced (poke bowls, different types of bentos, some new Korean products, and they also brought back the spam musubis and fish musubis that the previous owners used to do!); but I'm most happy to report that the hand rolls are satisfactory again (see new photos--clean, acceptable portions, etc.)!Very happy to stop by here again. Thank you for listening!

I come here for lunch sometimes and order the shrimp tempura handroll. My coworkers like the bentos and crab rice (imitation crab on top of rice). Simple but yummy.

Have you ever been so hungry you start salivating as each to-go order flies off the counter when you're standing nearby wishing you had ordered this or that? Well, that was me, cue Pavlov's dog. As an order would appear, I would start salivating. Come on, I was hot from walking downtown, it was right smack during the lunchtime rush hour and I was getting super hangry! You get the picture, not a pretty combination. I felt like something quick and cheap. I happened to be in the Pioneer Plaza building, so sure, why not grab some poke. I saw they offered a poke bowl and figured... poke and rice, that would work. But when I saw them putting the yellow pickled radish (yum!) and something green like a spinach but almost like a broccoli (yes, yum again) into a bowl I'm thinking dang, what's that? While it's pretty obvious, I'm the worst Korean in trying to figure out what kind of banchan this or that one is. Basically, I was secretly wishing I had ordered whatever that thing was! When she pointed at me as she was bagging up my bowl, I was like, "Huh, me?" Wow! I had no idea that stuff would be in my poke bowl! While the poke is "decent" I've had better but when you're starving like a marvin' sometimes, you just need food. I think I really loved little banchan scoops they added the most. I could practically eat any banchan for a meal, so yeah, I had my happy dance on just with that little unexpected bit!The service was quick less than a few minutes and that was with 3 people ahead of me.There's various table all around the hallways lining the Pioneer Plaza along with a variety of other places to grab things to eat. You can tell every place in the plaza caters to the downtown lunch gang, so they know how to do it on the fly!Overall, I was pretty happy with my lunch. I'm not saying it's gourmet by any means, but when you're in a hurry and need something other than a Snickers bar, give it a try and kick the hangry aside!

I LOVE this Aloha Sushi! The handrolls are super yummy! My favorites are the spicy veggie roll and spicy egg roll! Sara the owner is the nicest sushi lady ever, and she recognizes her regular customers and remembers their orders. And her sushi rice is the best I've ever tasted - she prepares them fresh daily! Unlike some other sushi bars I know that serves crusty unseasoned rice and charges more! Last I heard she's planning to sell, so check it out before she does!
