First time coming here after seeing my usual go to with a line out the door. Aloha Sub looks to be a small, local business. At arrival I was directed to a QR code to order. The woman and man making the sandwiches looked really overwhelmed so I didn't feel like I should ask any questions. I glanced quickly through the menu not paying attention to the prices. Oh my..at the end I owed $26 for an alligator rock whole sandwich. I didn't know what to expect and since I was already this far..I was committed. I pushed the button on the phone hoping for the best although I had questions.I waited 10 minutes for my sandwich watching the woman and man make the sandwiches. The woman did not have a hairnet and I swear her long hair brushed on the food she was making. The man seemed in the zone making his food. Waiting area was definitely a waiting area not to encourage dining. Okay ambiance for a waiting area. My meal was then ready. I was shocked to see I paid for 2 sandwiches and that's why it was $26 for a whole. I took my sandwiches to my office to enjoy. Well..I was disappointed. The sandwiches did not appear to have much meat. The bread was too soft. Sauces on the sandwiches didn't do anything to make it better. I wish there was an option to toast the sandwich.Overall, it was okay. Not somewhere I would return to given the choice.

A great spot to get something fresh and light in the middle of Downtown. As I started exploring Downtown eats, I started wanting something a little "healthier" with fast service and decent price. That's the best way to describe this place. Healthier is a matter of opinion but depending where you are in Downtown, this may be the freshest option that won't hit you with heavy salts or oils.I took a star off because you do have to order by yourself using the kiosk even when there are no customers! It's no surprise lunch rush is 12 in DT, so I eat at 1 usually to avoid the rush. When I walked in, I was very surprised to see that even though I was the only customer, I still ordered on the kiosk by myself. Not really ideal when you're a first time customer and you have some questions about the menu or preferences. Luckily, I was able to get a sandwich that had no flavor issues, but boy was I still confused during the process.it also seems like the reason why they went with self-service is because staffing shortage. They need as many hands on deck making the sandwiches for the larger, group orders that come in at one time. With the few times I've visited, it can be hit or miss depending on timing, but IMO it's worth the wait.Lastly, when you're looking for a fresh sandwich in Downtown this may be your only option depending on the location. Also, like I mentioned before, this was one of the only spots I found that was remotely close to a good tasting salad. And for $15 depending on your add-ons but compared to the size of what you get? Pretty good to me!

Our office gets food from here a lot and for the most part, it's pretty decent! Sometimes I wonder if there's enough meat but other times I'm pleasantly surprised. I recently loved my "Roadkill" on Rye. Hit every spot. Satisfied my craving. I should get that more often rather than the fluffy white/wheat bread I usually get. It's a pretty easy location however can be slow?? I definitely suggest ordering online if you can. They're good about your order being ready by the time you need it and they pack it very nicely! And if you're going to come here, you need the papaya dressing for your sandwich if it's on the more plain side. Makes such a difference. Ugh, I think my cravings are here again!

Sooo good! I had the Adam Sando without sprouts. The bread is made there and works perfectly with the sandwich. It's not that rounded sub type bread but flat and rectangular so you don't get tons of bread in every bite. The bread was nice and soft. I ordered online and it was ready when I got there.

I do love me my sandwiches and downtown Honolulu has a swarm of them, from Subway, Storto's, Humu Deli, and many others. Aloha Sub joins the sandwich lunch fray with fresh meats, breads, and cheeses. One thing that seems to differentiate them from the rest is the use of fresh avocado. Located on the street on Alakea, they offered made to order cold sandwiches with Hawaii theme, mostly surf related names. My friend and I stopped by for lunch one day, getting half a cloud break, which consisted of turkey, ham and roast beef (yes, that's the same thing I get at Storto's, stop memorizing my food choices Yelp audience!), and my friend got the yokohama, which includes ham, turkey, and pastrami. Like other sandwich, you can customize with all sorts of cheese and dressings. They do offer papaya seed dressing and rye bread, both fairly unusual for a downtown sandwich shop. The meats were good, the veggies were fresh and crisp, and the dressing was balanced. The bread was a bit dry, but that might simply because it's rye.Staff are polite, but they seemed understaffed for the number of orders they were receiving. Parking as always is a crapshoot downtown, but their market is definitely the downtown office worker. So if you're a sandwich head like me, give them a try to compare to the rest. No public bathrooms.3.5 stars

I hustled over on Friday December 22nd and ended up outside with three minutes to spare before closing... Door was locked, the Open sign was off, lights out... forced me to go to subway... what a bummer...

The taste of the sandwich from the small shop I happened to visit was really better than I expected. So I was really curious about the reviews of this shop.I don't know what the intentions of the people who sometimes leave bad comments here are, but it seems like I and many others really like the sandwiches here.

If you are downtown and craving a deli sando and not Subway, then Aloha Sub is the place. They make delicious sandos on fresh bread and the half size is huge. I have had a variety of their daily specials and each are delish. Its a small place but seating is available. Your in good hands with Aloha Sub!

The sub I ordered just hit the spot, perfect after a long day of snorkeling and surfing. No complaints about the service and I took my order home.
