When I heard that they moved to Waikiki, my coworkers and I were excited to try something new! Though there are a few kinks that they may need to work through. We got a few of their regular items such as the Huli Huli Chicken, Town & Country Shrimp, Kalua Pork & Maui Onion, and Pork Belly Adobo Moco. Overall the consensus for this day was that the proteins were very salty. And on the day that we went (Tuesday) they ran out of mac salad (we went around 11:15am) so we substituted everything with garlic fried rice. The fried rice was a little different than what we had expected. It had a little bit of a sour taste to it, but to me it tasted more like patis (fish sauce). As for the presentation, they currently come in brown take-out containers, that don't seal nicely up top sometimes. Looks are deceiving because when we pulled out the items, it covered a full regular size dinner paper plate. As for the menu prices, most of the plates are $17-$18 each, so don't believe the pricing that you see on their social media pages that says $7 Huli Huli chicken or $8 Garlic Shrimp. All in all, if the food was less salty on the proteins, we probably would've thoroughly enjoyed it.

Saw the truck right behind the Ross in Waikiki. Heard great things about food truck culture in Hawaii. We ordered two Duke Plates, one Kalua pork, and one garden vegetables. The taste was good. All the food was seasoned and tasty. The portions on the other hand weren't good for the price. The Duke plate was $24! That's ridiculous even though the food was good. I asked for soy sauce and the side, and they wanted to charge me a dollar..... I just bought four plates at a food truck for about $100, and you're going to charge me an extra dollar for some soy sauce. That left a bad taste in my mouth. This is strange because the cashier and greeting lady were really nice. Also, compared to the old pictures, the takeout boxes are half the quantity. They no longer use the white plates, they use the half plate brown boxes. Pros:Food tasteVarietyCons:Overpriced Small portions Customer service hit or miss

I found the Aloha Plate food truck on the makai side of Punchbowl St. near the Federal and State buildings. Their specials looked good but I immediately decided on a spicy ahi poke bowl for the hot weather. I'm about to make a bold statement considering there are so many good poke joints on the island...this was the best poke I've had on Oahu. The fish was so freakin' fresh. It had that nice translucent pink color where you can tell it's really fresh. The flavor was perfect and the ahi wasn't drenched in spicy mayo like a few other places and they mixed some onion slices in the poke. The rice was topped with furikake bowl was topped with shredded ginger and thin and crispy won ton strips. Yum!The gentleman that was taking orders outside of the truck was really friendly and upbeat. He says the fish is caught locally and I think daily. I'm not sure what their schedule is but they said they try to be on Punchbowl Street every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Next time I'm in the area and looking for good poke, Aloha Plate will be it! Their customer service is good and I'm sure the rest of their plates are good too but the poke is so good that I'm content not trying anything else.

One experience with Aloha Plate so far, and it was a good one. Indulged in the smoked meat plate, which came with rice underneath the meat (all the better to sop up the juices), another scoop of rice, and choice of salad. (I had the potato-mac salad.) The delicious smoke smell seeped out of the container, thus constituting cruel and unusual punishment - at least for as long as it took me to get back to my desk. There was no need for the knife that I had picked up. The smoked pork nearly disintegrated to the touch of the fork. The meat had some fat but was decidedly not overly-fatty. It was a generous portion so I was quite sated afterwards. I try to eat less rice, but I had to go for the grains underneath that had soaked up the meat and sauce drippings. The potato-mac salad was standard issue, good, but nothing outstanding. The window on the truck is placed up high. I could only reach the counter when my arm was stretched out all the way. Fortunately staff can reach out the window to you.I was told there is always a variety of poke on the menu, but that the non-poke main dishes rotate. I look forward to the truck returning to my workplace so I can try other dishes. It was not only tasty but was a good value for the money, given how much food one got.

The staff is super friendly!! The guy working there was super kind and took his time to tell me a little background story about the chef and the menu. I tried the Kalua Pork Tacos (comes with 4) and it was delicious. I especially enjoyed the crispy onions on top.

I've finally found the perfect Korean Chicken plate. Here's why...when you taste the sauce, there's a twist, not the expectant kick. Sauce is flavorful and pairs well with Furikake rice. Same delicious sauce is ideal for a tasty fried rice. Chicken is tender, able to taste marination, one bite into crispy skin is so tempting, that I finished all ten pieces in a matter of minutes. Potato and mac salad is to die for with unique flavors and seasonings. This is the first side dish that tastes yummy with a bed of cabbage. Without a doubt, cabbage adds a nice crunch to salad. Salad also complements Korean chicken and Furikake rice. Meal portion and excellent customer service is certainly worth $10. I'm in heaven with this local plate for lunch or dinner.

I admit that I wanted to try aloha plate because I saw them win on food networks america food truck race (haha). I have tried to get their plates at one eat the street but I came later and their line was kind of long. So great luck that I came early and no line! It was eat the street bacon themed! Whooo bacon! Their bacon themed dish was bacon cheeseburger nachos which was okay but I actually really wanted to try their pork belly roast pork with gravy. So towards the end of the night, I decided to try and get that plate. This time the wait was a little longer and I was tired but I really wanted to try it (haha). And omg good thing I did! So I brought it home and it looked messy because it was moving around in the bag. It was delicious!!! The pork was so soft and juicy that it fell apart so easily, it was a great paring with the gravy! This dish redeemed them and I definitely want to try their other dishes. There are times where you should give a place another chance, I'm Happy I did! :D So my suggestion is if you see them at an eat the street, get a couple friends to buy their themed dish and one of their regular dishes. So you might get the best of both worlds :)

I found Aloha Plate after a co-worker told me that Pearlridge Mall had food trucks on the lot. I actually went out to get Mexican food but since I followed a bit of their Food Race journey I had to try their food.I finally decided on the Kalbi Shortrib Curry plate (was so excited I forgot to ask if they had brown rice) which sounded so ono. It was a huge plate - tender and tasty! Very satisfied and I look for to this coming weekend to try something different

I've been a fan of the Amazing Food Truck Race since the beginning. I've been bias cheering for asian teams that appear and don't win. It was shameful when one asian team was disqualified for cheating. Now, the fourth season, there's an asian team and they're are from Hawaii. Aloha Plate won that season well representing the islands. I was so proud. More so, I wanted to eat their food. That day finally came this past Friday at Eat The Streets China. We came early right at the 4:00pm opening parking right in the lot. We like to walk around to see who is new. It had been a few months since last we came and were looking forward to some good eats. As we come almost full circle I recognize Aloha Plate. My mind is made up where to eat.Looking over the menu and there are many delicious entrees but I settle on Seafood Chowder with Opah belly BLT slider and a firecracker Aioli pepper. The taste was out of this world with several layers of flavor but not overpowering. The chowder was really hot. Could not eat it alone unless you bit the sandwich first. I wanted to try other selections but I had plans for dinner later and did not want to spoil my appetite. This was just an appetizer and a good one at that. There are two things that stop me from giving it the 5th star. One, wish there was more of the Aioli peppers. I ate that one up in one bite that left nothing for the rest of the meal. Two, I did feel it a little bit over price. Now, ETS is pricey to begin with but I felt this was over that. I'm willing to put out the extra bucks for special events like ETS but I don't want to go over that.Round Two coming up.
