Hard to find hole in da wall. Once you find it, ring the bell! Inside there is a small trail to walk thru. Watch out, dont hit anything. Lots of the items are pricey. I didnt find anything that really interest me, but thats just me. Of youre looking for the asian finds, this is the place. I was looking for pots/planters, toys, signs, and old cameras...

New location opened by George T. Kurisu who used to own and run the store at its original location in Chinatown for nearly 25 years. This location is located on N. School St. right before you hit the Foodland. It's in odd location that's sorta close to Shimazu's. An eclectic mix of Asian, Western, and Hawaiiana antiques and collectibles jam-packed into this nondescript building. I took a photo of his business, but will get photo of the location bumbai.REVIEW #213

I'd give it 0-stars if that was an option. First of all, the damn cave troll inside takes forever to come to the door. And to gain entry, you need to answer its questions. If he doesn't like your answers, you can not pass and look at his junk. This guy has to be a hoarder. I really don't think he wants to get rid of anything. The first thing he asked me was "You want to sell something?" I reply, "What??? No. I came with the intention of buying knicknacks and odd shelf pieces."Next, he asks me what I'm looking for. I reply, "I don't know. I buy stuff that catches my eye." Then he tells me, "Oh. I'm not open." But the neon sign that says "open" is lit. "Turn the fu#king thing off then!" I yell at him. What a waste of my time.Hey old man, from the sound of your cough, you're not long for this world. You can't take the crap with you. Sell it and enjoy a nice vacation. Jerk

The guy wasn't very friendly. The sign says they're open and he asks at the door "what do you want?" He let me in, i tried to make conversation and he stops me says he's interested in selling, let him know if i wanna buy something. After a few minutes he says he has to run some errands, if i wanna buy something, I'll help you now. Told him forget it I'm leaving. If you know what you want...great. If you're there to browse, don't waste your time.

I love this place and I love George. Amazing stuff I hope you never get in because it's so awesome and he doesn't deal with everyone so the less people he deals with the more awesome stuff I will always find.

Aloha Antiques IS an Island Tradition. When SO many "Old Time" businesses are closing, such as Arts Hawaii, Ming's of Honolulu and Anchor House Antiques (to name a few), I applaud the owner's DEDICATION to keep his business going.I've been a customer, of Aloha Antiques, for many years. I first discovered it while it was still in Chinatown and was instantly mesmerized by the DOZENS of display cases containing Amber to Zebra figurines...Every where I looked, there was a Treasure. Young people don't have enough appreciation of buying Vintage Original items ; Instead, they tend to "follow the herd" and buy cheap mass produced JUNK Made in China and sold at stores such as R_SS, etc...March to the Beat of Your Own Drum. Avoid the Herd.

George can be a very cranky old man and that he gets upset when you don't buy from him and he is very expensive. He never has a price tag on 95% of the items that he sells in his store/shop and he expects you to give him an offer and then, yet he gets upset still. LOL. Unbelievable! this guy is. Other than that its a buyers market and yet his signs says 50% OFF and yet he has no price tag on the stuff he sells. I think its the law that your suppose to price tag all your items for sale. I did buy some stuff from him and that, he dose have some nice stuff and just throw him a number $ at him and if he dose not like it, and if he grumbles back at you, then tell him what I said to "wake up and smell the coffee", its a buyers market. To bad so sad. Aloha and Mahalo... Peace.

He advertised a 19th century Hawaii document for $80 which I sent payment for.He sent me a $1 photographic copy of the document and refused to return my money. He never said reproduction, photograph, facsimile but used the word "copy".Bottom line, he has no idea of what he is doing or possibly he's simply trying to conPeople, either way.....not recommended under any circumstance to do business!

Wow, I was really surprised to see the low rating on the store and in particular, George himself. He has been nothing but nice to us. Yeah, he opens when he wants to and takes a while to get to the front door but to me, that just adds to the charm. You're not shopping at Wal-mart here. It's just George and his treasures. We stumbled across his store two years ago and made it a point to visit again on this last one. It's so jam packed that it's hard to move around but if you spend the time, he has some fabulous finds. How can you blame him for being a little wary about who he lets in to his store? So easy to slip something into your pocket. I can't wait for our next trip back so we can visit him again. 5 stars for both George and his store.
