We stopped in to look around and wound up staying for a drink, some chatter, and tacos to go. We sat at the bar and received a warm welcome and friendly chatter from three different bartenders. The decor is a pleasant Mexican theme that strikes just the right balance, not overdone or underdone. There is plenty of comfy seating, indoors and out, both built-in and freestanding that makes good use of the narrow and awkward shape of the space.I had the original beer and vegan tacos, 2 street-size tacos ($9) which consisted of a pile of roasted sweet peppers and onions and chunks of tofu that were chicken flavored and a little chewy. I liked that the chunks looked and tasted like seasoned tofu and were not overly processed. The little corn tortillas were very tasty as well. The vibe of Aloha Amigo is a friendly neighborhood bar. I'm looking forward to going back, having a drink, and meeting up with friends.

Wanted to check this place out since they just recently opened, and what could be more fun than a Hawaiian x Mexican fusion spot?? The vibe is good with a nice bar area with high tops and a variety of seating options. We sat at the bar where Ama and Shota were amazing bartenders and provided great cocktails and food recommendations. We ordered the oxtail birria ramen and the surf and turf fajitas. The ramen noodles were absolutely delicious and the Hawaiian salsa and spicy salsa are an absolute must to order! The li hing mui margarita was delicious. All around great spot with good food, service, people, and vibes. Will be back soon!

5 Stars - Perfect Fusion of Hawaiian, Mexican, and Izakaya Flavors!Aloha Amigo is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the vibes were immaculate--laid-back yet stylish, the perfect blend of island chill and Japanese izakaya energy. The drinks were fantastic, and I have to shout out their spicy margarita--it was actually spicy, which is a rare and welcome surprise! Perfect balance of heat and citrus. The menu was so creative that we didn't even know where to start, but Ama and Shota were amazing and helped us pick some winners. The Oxtail Birria Ramen was next-level--rich, flavorful broth with perfectly tender oxtail. No surprise since they also own Camado Ramen (they clearly know their ramen!). The Surf and Turf was another highlight, a delicious and unique take on a classic.Everything about our visit was excellent--drinks, service, and, most importantly, the food. Aloha Amigo truly delivers on its Hawaiian-Mexican-Izakaya fusion concept in the best way. If you're looking for bold flavors and a great time, this spot is 100% worth a visit. Can't wait to come back!

This is a great restaurant with a fun ambiance, located downtown. Mexican food isn't the most authentic, but the flavors are really spot on. We ordered a variety of tacos, which come in twos, and also tried a quesadilla. Highly recommend the molcajete, which had a pepper, tilapia, shrimp, chicken, and beef in a delicious tomatoes based spicy sauce served with amazing rice and beans and tortillas. It was smaller than anticipated though. Service was good and frequent.

Well wanted to try this place as they have just opened. Went on one of their soft opening days which was really nice. Ended up wanting Mexican food to switch up the menu from having plate lunches all week and was not disappointed. Was able to get here early enough before the line started out the door. This is for sure not your typical Mexican restaurant because it has a high influence from the Japanese culture. It has a bit of an izakaya feel to the place where it is a great place to drink but also a better place to have some amazing flavorful food. One thing I wasn't really expecting is the food to come out when it was ready and not all at once but that was totally okay in the end. I would have to say the best dish there were the noodles! The oxtail birria ramen had so much flavor in it I wish i stayed to have more. It was the perfect dish for a cool evening out in Waikiki. The staff were amazing and very helpful with trying to pick out what to eat as I was very undecided. Will sure will be coming back for the oxtail birria ramen as it was one of the best I have tasted.

Really good ambiance, have an indoor but open seating and have an outdoor seating. Very spacious and the aesthetic is really good. The food as well is tasty! I love everything I had even the plating and presentation, portions are huge too. The service is really good, staff are friendly and knowledgeable of their menu. Asked what is good and was able to give us good suggestions. Overall everything is good!

We visited Aloha Amigo shortly after their opening and had a mixed experience. Here's a breakdown:Food: 2/5The plating was beautiful, but unfortunately, the flavor just didn't deliver. The carne asada portion was surprisingly skimpy, leaving us feeling a bit disappointed.Drinks: 5/5The drinks were the highlight of our visit. They tasted fantastic and were presented beautifully--definitely a strong point for the restaurant.Service: 4/5It's clear they're still ironing out the kinks after opening just five days ago. Some roles weren't fully staffed, and the host was multitasking, bussing tables and seating guests. Despite the slight disorganization, the staff's effort was noticeable, and David, in particular, provided excellent service. He was attentive, kind, and made the experience much more enjoyable.Atmosphere: 3/5The dim lighting created a nice vibe, but the music was excessively loud, making it hard to have a conversation--even with the person right next to us. A unique feature was the bright square light they brought out when serving food for photo ops, which felt a little gimmicky but could appeal to certain diners.Overall, Aloha Amigo has potential but needs to refine some aspects of their food and ambiance. We understand they're new and working through opening-week challenges, so we hope to see improvements as they settle in.

Cute restaurants nice atmosphere. We sat at the bar. We got good service and the drinks were fantastic The food was OK I would say don't order the fish tacos. It's something bland from Costco. The food is over price for a small portion.
