I brought my son here to drop in for the keiki (kids) class since we're on vacation from out of town. Professor Rexie and the rest of the Alliance Jiu Jitsu family we awesome and have so much Aloha. Something we don't see much of in the mainland. Professor Rexie made my son feel welcomed and comfortable while training. He also explains the instruction to the kids in a way that the kids understand. We will definitely bring our son back her to train whenever we are back in Hawaii. Please give Alliance BJJ a shot if you're ever interested in taking class.

Professor Rex and his staff are fantastic. My son was terrified to go since he has no experience and didn't know what to expect. They welcomed him to the ohana with open arms and he has had a blast learning about being a leader and learning skills that he will take with him throughout his life. One of the best decisions we have made.

On website it doesn't show any details of the classes, ( no certain age group, days, times) it's blank it should show a message : please contact us for pricing or any other inquiries. Called the # it went straight to voicemail. It was someone's cell I believe. But if you're running a business, a Voicemail regarding your business and being professional to let potential students attend would be great. It's not hard... " you have reached.....we are unable to take your call... Etc etc"

Second training session for my boys and they are hooked. Met Rexxie or is it Rexxy, the lead instructor and he was great with the boys. Seems like they were comfortable with him and the other instructors right away. Again great friendly environment for the kids while teaching and helping the kids perfect their techniques.

Visited for a drop in morning class while on vacation. Several black, purple, and blue belts. Great people. Great instruction from an experienced black belt and a super talented brown belt. Great detail in instruction. Great methodical techniques with a theme for the class with common counters and great ways to overcome those counters. If you want great instruction, cool vibes, and skilled players train here!

Best place to train and learn BJJ around. I was on vacation for a week and wanted to get some training in. Came to Alliance and professor Jim welcomed me and invited me to train. Professors Rex, Ronnie, and Jim were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They made me feel welcomed to their school of high level practitioners. If you are looking for a school to learn from the best around Alliance is the place for you.

I'm going to review this as a first timer in BJJ training. I haven't visited other schools to compare so keep that in mind. BJJ training; you've seen the moves in MMA, names like BJ Penn and Royce Gracie ring more than just a distant bell in your brain, you're a fan but maybe you have a voice in your head telling you "I'm not a bad ass, I can't do this". Well that's how I felt for about two years when a good friend of mine tried to introduce me to the art. I wish I listened, I was missing out and I really regret it now. What to expect the first time you visit the academy? Expect to be welcomed as a family member, and I'm not just saying that. The professor and the students will welcome you and make you feel right at home, regardless if you know anything or everything about the art. The professor is extremely experienced with nearly 25 years practicing the art, there's not many outside of Brazil with that kind of BJJ experience. I can tell he loves to teach and after every training session, I go home knowing something new, and not to mention a great feeling of accomplishment. The class schedule is very flexible, with weekday morning classes, evening classes (including no-gi on Tuesday evenings) and keiki classes. Go give it a visit and see for yourself, it might be one of the best decisions of your life.

My son has been training here since March 2018. Starting out, there would be weeks at a time when he refused to get on the mat because he was still very nervous. Professor Rex was more than understanding and incredibly patient with him. Even if my son was sitting on the side watching class, Professor would still greet him, ask if he wanted to come out, and gave him a high five or a pat on the shoulder regardless of his answer. Over time, my son has become quite comfortable here and has just recently earned his 2nd stripe on his white belt. Never have I encountered a business that welcomes strangers in with open arms and complete kindness like seen here. I myself have begun training here along with my son over the past two months and have witnessed the welcoming atmosphere first hand. The skill set displayed by the black and brown belts, all belts for that matter, is outstanding and you will learn tons even from one class. Alliance BJJ is a true Ohana and THE place to train on Oahu.

Initially started training with alliance back in 2004 when they were intially Gracie Barra. But do too starting and growing family, I've been away for almost 8 years. But due to the Family atmosphere, intense training, and Highly skilled experience and professionalism of professor Rex and Renee, I have never forgot my family here. No matter what tag name is used it is the family environment that has been developed that has me back and now with my kids participating as well. KEEP IT UP!!!

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to train here, however, I am very impressed with the quick reply to questions I had about training there while I was visiting. Also was very generous and welcoming. Usually can tell what kind of gym it is through the first interaction and I will definitely reach out prior to returning here. Thank you again to whomever replied, happy training! Bless!
