Three co-workers and I went to have lunch at Alejandro's Tacos in Kalihi Valley. This was my first visit; the other three had gone there previously. We lucked out; there was a car pulling out as we arrived, so we scored a parking space. Serendipity! We sat in the bar next door. I started with a Corona ($6); what's Mexican food without a Corona? Not happening, at least for me. The others were good with glasses of water.I ordered the #2 Taco Combo (a beef, a carnitas and a carne asada taco), Spanish rice and pinto beans ($16.50). Another ordered #3 Taco Combo (a carnitas and two carne asada tacos) with the Spanish rice and pinto beans ($17.50) and the others ordered the wet burrito combo plate ($16). We added two orders of chips and salsa ($6.75 each). Our orders came very quickly ... The tacos were so flavorful. I poured salsa over my Spanish rice to moisten it; the pinto beans still retained their shape ... not cooked down to become refried beans. I really liked my #2 combo. My only quibble is I would have wanted freshly fried tortilla chips. I think the ones we got were made somewhere else ... they reminded me of potato chips.Alejandro's is a hidden gem ... seek it out, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended!

Surprised I did not do a review on this sooner. It is crazy how you can live in areas known for having good tacos but the taste for a good taco hits you more when you are far away from those areas. If you are in Honolulu and get that taste for a good taco then head to Alejandros. Word of this place came to us coming from a dinner cruise. The person who mentioned this to us said it is the closest you will find to real street tacos anywhere in Oahu. Just to be clear I went to Alejandros in Kalihi Valley also known as the "Pink Store". Once again I cannot remember the name of our hostess at the bar but she was great. The margaritas during the 11 to 5 happy hour were on point and a must try. In case you were told margaritas are great anytime and not just when having some Mexican food. I went with the #3 Taco Combo which is a carnita and two carne asada tacos with some rice and beans. They did not skip on the meat and I thank them for not skipping on the fresh cilantro and onions. I had to admit I had some preconceived notions on how the food would taste and I was glad I was wrong. I was not expecting it to be bad but was more than surprised at how good they were. It was surprising like finding good gumbo in North Dakota. I was just not expecting it and especially with the freshness of the cilantro and onions in Hawaii. Spot on with the flavor that I am use to with street tacos. They of course have burritos but that was a bit too much to try and handle in one sitting after the tacos. Definite a place to checkout and there are two sides to this place. The takeout side and then there is a side where you can sit and eat. They still go to the takeout side to grab your food and bring over.

Drove past this place...looked up reviews...backed up to give it a try. Small parking lot so I had to double park while I put in my take out order. Ordered a carne asada wet burrito. Burrito was tasty...tons of beef/beans/rice smothered in their enchilada sauce. Habanero hot sauce was pretty good. I'd go back if in the area.

I love the food and ambience!!! I've been here a few times & each time, I've loved the food, the environment, and the service. I usually get the carne asada taco combo and my partner gets the burrito combo. Sooooo delicious and filling! Sometimes there's live music too! Lastly, the workers are always super kind! 100% suggest anyone to try this place!

We stopped here for lunch on the way to our hotel on the North Shore. It is pretty close to the airport so it was very convenient. The place is a dive and I mean that in a good way. The outside is very modest, and that same modesty carries to the inside. The Yelp description says waiter service but in fact you order at the counter and then wait while they prepare. There are two small tables outside but that is about it. Service was very fast. There were a good number of people coming and going while we were there. We ordered the taco plate: 3 tacos, rice, beans, and drink for $13.50. There are other protein options but we opted for ground beef. The ground beef was nicely seasoned and very flavorful. Comes with corn tortillas. The rice was excellent. The beans were also well seasoned. Overall, it was a very good lunch. They also have burritos and quesadillas that I hope we get to try during our stay on Oahu. The 4 stars are for the dicey-ness of the restaurant but the food is close to 5 stars.

It's been awhile since I've eaten here and they still got it. Ordered online and food was ready in 15 minutes. (And it was a big order) Parking can be tricky but lots of street parking above the business. Casual establishment for pick up and go. Staff is nice. Pricing is reasonable and competitive to other similar eateries in my opinion. Everything was tasty. Burritos, tacos, and nachos. My favorite will always be Carne Asada. Loved that they make the nacho toppings separate and provide the chips on the side so it's not all soggy. Those nachos didn't stand a chance, they were so good. Will be back!

I am a woman of my words so the second the opportunity arose, I visited Alejandro's once again despite having to make the 5mile drive back and forth through rush hour traffic. I visited yesterday (Friday), and it was pretty slow. The workers seemed to be having a blast (literally and figuratively), listening to Bohemian Rhapsody. I ordered 3 Macho Burritos and asked if they could either grill my burrito or cheese crust it. The cashier had to ask the cook and they said it was fine since it was slow. It incurred an additional extra cheese cost which I didn't mind. The macho burrito never disappoints. It took much longer than my past experiences but it was likely due to the requested cheese crust. I realized, after ordering and eating it, that compared to my previous reviews, it was likely just grilled. The cheese crust was good but not what I was looking for. Next time (LOL already planning my next visits AGAIN), I will just ask for it grilled (if they were slow as to not be an inconvenience). I went to dine on the bar side, it was much cooler inside and they kept the door closed to ensure the temperature was maintained. The bartender, Tiffany, who was working was SO NICE. I asked if we can sit inside and she welcomed us in and gave me the plate, napkins, utensils, and sauces. She also provided us with a cup of water when she saw us going back and forth to get water from the takeout side. She was also able to confirm that the man I saw the last time I visited was indeed the owner who was entertaining the guests. Will be back again very soon, can't really go without mexican food for long LOL.

I just went there to get some food. Everything was just not good. I paid $76 for bad food! The tacos when I open it was soggy and drenched in something which seeped onto the outside of the foil like you could fill up a cup with the amount of liquid that was in it. I ordered nachos and all 3 nachos were sitting in liquid. From either not draining the beans or not draining the jalapeños or something. Omg the chips was so stale it had no crunch to it what so ever. Idk the kids that worked that shift just didnt care. Im already in pearlcity and literally was going to drive all the way back Ughhh but I have a doctors appointment.

If you're in Honolulu and craving authentic Mexican cuisine, Alejandro's Mexican Food is a must-visit. The flavors are incredibly rich and satisfying, with everything from tacos to burritos and enchiladas cooked to perfection. The carne asada is tender and perfectly seasoned, while the al pastor tacos are a flavorful standout. Their salsa bar is also a treat, offering a variety of spicy, tangy options that elevate every dish. The portions are generous, making it a great spot for both a quick bite and a hearty meal. The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall laid-back and inviting vibe of the restaurant. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Alejandro's offers a top-notch Mexican food experience that you won't soon forget.
