Wow! I LOVED this place & I am now going to be a weekly religious follower. Since the closing of Odori-Ko, I have not been able to find the Hamachi Carpaccio dish that I so loved--until now!! The Kampachi Carpaccio is worth the trip to Akasaka!! Fresh from Kona!We also had Kampachi Ngiri & they topped w/ pickled wasabi. Chef's Kiss! It's a small, clean, intimate space, so make a rezzie if you're a big group. Staff was super cool. We also had a few other dishes. The Alaska roll was my fave! See you guys next week!!

Akasaka was not on the radar.Red Cafe next door was. That restaurant wasn't open. Upon entering Akasaka, I noticed that they had tatami mat seating and table seating. The table seating was a bit uncomfortable. The restaurant was warm. The A/C didn't seem to be working. I ordered a three choice Teishoku. It included Sashimi, Teri beef, and tempura. The sashimi had two slices of Maguro and three slices of salmon. This was top quality and delicious. The teriyaki was bland. The meat was overcooked, and yet there was no char on it. Tempura was also a disappointment. It looked like I made it, not what you would expect from a Japanese restaurant. It was a little pricey for what you got. Enjoy

Food was good, salmon Ikura don was definitely high quality. The service was a bit slow cause it was pretty crowded on Valentine's Day. Food and drinks are a little bit on the pricer side, but I would give it another try for a different dish next time.

Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii...I've been to this old school restaurant, Akasaka, twice before today:The first time, was before Yelp - with my high school classmate. I don't remember what I ate, but I do remember that my car was towed. Do NOT park on Kona Street!!!The second time was with a Yelp friend. We had a nice time! She had made a reservation for us!This time, our group had no reservation. Craig T. walked over to Akasaka because the restaurant we wanted to visit wasn't open yet (even though their sign says "open at 6pm"). Craig said Akasaka can take all 7 of us right now! Yay!There's free parking in their lot. Go early because it gets full later!Inside, it's cozy and warm... literally. I was fanning myself and patting my perspiration with a napkin!Service was quite attentive and bold. We heard about their appetizer scallops and sushi platter several times. LOL! The owner, Yuko, has been in business for 45 years! She gave us complimentary appetizer of agedashi tofu - very delicious! Thank you! We were also served edamame... yummy!I got the 2-choice teishoku dinner, which comes with miso soup, white rice, and green salad... yum! My miso butterfish and shrimp and Veggie (pumpkin, eggplant, sweet potato, and zucchini) tempura were delicious!Itadakimasu!!!

Since Red Cafe was close bunch of us friends decided to go next door to Akasaka . Entrance to Akasaka is on Kapiolani Blvd but there's a lane that goes through to Kona St.First of all the air conditioner was not working properly because auntie Nadine and I was sweating while eating our dinner that wasn't comfortable . I ordered their 3 selection Tonkatsu , Ahi teriyaki and shrimp tempura. It comes with miso soup and a side salad and rice . The owner came to our table and introduced herself she replied she giving us complimentary Agadashi tofu which was ok . Service was ok but I felt like the workers kept on upselling the sushi which our party just wanted to eat food instead of sushi . The portion was fairly small I was still hungry when I left the restaurant. Ample parking available and support local

This Japanese restaurant is a hidden spot you will want to discover during your time in Honolulu near Ala Moana Shopping Center. I was not very hungry but ended up ordering the special Hamachi Carpaccio which is meant to be an appetizer. It was absolutely divine! The hamachi pieces were lovely with the special topping with a pepper and other seasonings. Loved it!! Japanese meals come with fresh salad, soup, and steamed rice. Popular edamame served prior to receiving dishes. Service was very attentive and pleasant. It's small, comfortable traditional Japanese restaurant with full sushi bar and authentic chefs. Parking could be tight depending on time of day or night. I highly recomend this place if you are wanting authentic, quality Japanese cuisine.

Customer service was the best I had, they are very attentive and friendly. Made my first time Japanese style dining much more enjoyable. My BF took me here and reserved the sitting on floor section. It was cute and intimate ambience for just the two of us. The food... I never ate so much sashimi I was full. My favorite was the ahi nigiri and sizzling scallops with that special sauce. It was a great treat from my bf.

Only sushi place I tried during my Hawaii trip. Recommend by locals. I was told this place has been here over 40years!!! Must been doing something right. Let me share my experience. Interior look super cozy old school vibe. Most woods they have upstairs as well, my group was 5 adults and one 3years old kid so they put us upstairs. Started with few hot dishes. Butter scallops, black cod miso, udon and tamago sushi. We also requested some pan fried eggs for baby. They were happy to do that for us. Also asked udon is for baby as well so they took few things off from noodle such as mushrooms/ green onions. So kids friendly for sure. Many different drink options. Sake/beer/wine all priced reasonably. Black cold miso was awesome! I did reorder black cod again towards end of our meal again. That is how good was. Sorry I forgot to take pictures on hot foods. I only took pictures of big sushi plates. As you can see, fresh fish and I love that chef put them kizami wasabi on most of nigiri sushi. Hotate were topped with truffle oil it was good touch. Also had tempura cheese cake which was topped with blueberries, raspberries. Overall Must have black cod miso and sushi items are must.

This place was nice, reminded me of a small local place in Japan. It was definitely authentic I will say the prices are insane. The rolls we got were almost $20 each for 6 small pieces. Was it good? Yes it was. But the price isn't worth it, most likely can find similar quality somewhere close by.
