Lunch in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii...Finding great places is easy with the Yelp app! Just search the area (city) where you want to dine and look through the list! That's how I found Aina Grill!I had never heard of Aina Grill before, but they're quite popular and even won an award! They've been at this cozy spot for about 5 years!I saw photos of the special Guava BBQ sauce on Grilled Sirloin and decided to get it. The mini plate comes with 2 sides. I selected the coleslaw and the cheesy baby potatoes. Everything was delicious! The thinly sliced beef tasted yummy and was tender! The fresh coleslaw had the right amount of crunch and tartness! The cheesy potatoes were interesting and not overpowering!I would return if I were in the area! I hope the owner's girlfriend is there again - she was very friendly and knowledgeable. The young man at the cash register was just doing his job... LOL!

We ordered takeout and it was quick and good quality. I got mochiko chicken, which I normally have had with no sauce or some variation of katsu, eel or plum sauce. This time I saw they had Che chimichuri style and couldn't resist. I would have liked to have more sauce but that was really the only issue I had. The rice was well cooked but not highly seasoned so it has room for spicing your way. The fries weren't soggy like some of the diners I have tried. They got the Swiss burger and enjoyed it. Will definitely go back to explore more of the menu.

I got so excited when my hubby suggested ordering from Aina Grill today. I've been craving their Beef Kawali, so I ordered it again. I also tried their Smoked Marlin Dip with crispy pita chips.Parking was a breeze. There were plenty of spots available when we got there and our food was ready for pick-up when we arrived.Alejandro, the owner, greeted us and served our order. Nice and friendly guy!The Beef Kawali is still my favorite, though I felt it was cooked a bit better and crispier last time. I really love how the savory beef fat melts in my mouth. The chillipeppahwatah is really a game changer for me when I added it to the beef Kawali. I really like eating it this way.The Smoked Marlin Dip, however, didn't quite meet my expectations. It lacked the fresh, smoky flavor I usually look for in a smoked marlin dip. There's definitely room for improvement with this dish.Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back for more Beef Kawali! Hehe

beef kawali was terrible got 2 for $15 through uber eats, meat looked burnt did not have taste just the vinegar from onions and tomato it tasted like i just ate two day old meat that was left in refrigerator just reheated... very disappointed i should have gotten the kalua pig plates instead but it is what it is hopefully this dish improves better next time

I was roaming around the Waipahu area and yelp search brought me here. The food here was interesting. It seems like mixed local Asian dishes. Ordered takeout: steak plate with noodles, potatoes, and Spanish rice. Food was pretty good. I like the cheese potatoes. Pricing was okay. Not cheap eats but decent food for the price.

Wife and I came here yesterday as I've been eyeballing that loco moco burrito for a while. Also had the smoked marlin dip and the hoisin chicken which we saved for later. Wife ordered as many beef kawali as possible.Beef kawali was good as usual. I really was hoping for more vinegar on the side but still the best thing on the menu.The hoisin chicken had a great char flavor to it. Definitely enjoy the flavors to this chicken.The loco moco burrito was also good. I was wondering how this will be pulled off and it could be messier in my book. Too light on the gravy. I also like my loco moco with a sunny or overeasy egg. I was missing that. Definitely missing was massive amounts of gravy. How to rework this is to make an option for a wet burrito or gravy on the side as a dip or pour over. Put the sunny egg on top and pour the gravy. We have ourselves a great burrito! Also I'd go with a garlic rice or fried rice over the spanish rice, but it works.The smoked marlin dip was a bit of a letdown. It's served with fried pita chips. I kept dipping looking for the smoked part but couldn't find it. Liquid smoke will only help this dip out for the smoked flavor we were looking for. Once again, we thought overall, the food was good. I still think it has the potential to be great. The food for me was telling me that, and the menu itself as unique as it is is telling me that also. Just some minor changes to the recipes and an honest change to some menu items that might not be selling too well. Maybe after a review of what they offer, they can focus on mastering some of these recipes.We'll definitely still be coming back because we like the food and service!

Only person in the restaurant. Ordered quickly... not sure how it takes 25 minutes for a chicken plate. Another couple came in & their order was done within 10 mins. Service is subpar. They could use some tips on friendliness. Don't recommend.

I usually get a burger after my doctor appointments in Pearl City. But as this appointment was later than usual, they were already closed for the day. Then I remembered Aina Grill has fresh tasty burgers! Ordered for delivery on our way home so it arrived shortly after we did. Got our usual Pinoy bbq sticks, yum!! Hubs wanted beef so teriyaki steak for him. Portions were all generous and love that we had so many delicious sides to enjoy! Check out my previous Aina Grill review for how MUCH we love them lol. My burger totally hit the spot. I love that you can specify how to dress your burger! No need to pull it apart to add them yourself. Small detail but I love that they have the option. Their burger is like a fresh homemade burger... lots of flavor without fillers. I said it already but it's worth repeating. Their dishes are like beloved home cooked meals without the dirty dishes!

Aina Grill is one of many hidden gems on the west side of Oahu. Utilizing the diverse culture onto their menu. Good food, great service, and a nice local spot. I would eat here again and take my family here too.
