Ahi & Vegetable Xpress - Downtown

Sometimes I'm pressed for a quick lunch so I head to ahi and vegetable express. I love their grab and go options. It's quick and easy.There's a sign that says miso soup is complementary upon request. But the cashiers always ask me if I want a bowl. I love that they ask cuz sometimes my head is all over the place. It's definitely my go to for fresh fish and a quick lunch.Will have to go back to try their hot options.

Definitely an EXPRESS. How I miss the old Ahi and Vegetable. The new owners a definitely business minded and there's a few new locations popping up around town, Ala moana, now downtown. I think it's great for them but the quality has made a clear decline over the past 4 years, from all locations. This downtown express offers a much smaller menu and everything is premade/precut and laying out like a Subway style. It's convenient for a quick fix, and the lines move quickly. The staff is friendly. But it's not the same Ahi & Vegetable usuals are used to.

They are located in the old Jamba Juice outside of the Bank of Hawaii building. It is to-go only with no seating area and offers the same menu items as their other dine-in locations. I ordered a salmon & hamachi bowl with sushi rice and picked up a side of shrimp tempura. My order came with a complimentary miso soup and totaled to about $25. They also offer plate lunches where you can choose from a selection of ready made items such as hamachi Kama, noodles, etc. The service was quick and friendly. My sashimi was fresh and delicious. The shrimp tempura though was not crispy, a little stale like it had been sitting out for a while. But I do eat lunch around 1 pm which is late in downtown so I probably wouldn't get any of their fried items unless you get there earlier closer to their opening time.

I fell in love with their Tofu Salad years ago at the Dillingham location. They do not disappoint. I go there to buy it and other dishes. The fish is so fresh that I do not hesitate to pay the price. Being so fresh, it will last a few days, properly refrigerated of course. Can't wait to go back.

First time here having the Ahi & Hamachi sashimi bowl w/rice. Hamachi was old and tasted fishy. I was tempted to walk back and return it but to far of a walk. Thin slices for over $19 and I am still hungry. Will not be back. I hopeI don't get sick.
