Academy Shop

I like this shop. (Wo)manned by a bunch of older ladies that take pride in their goods. Came here during the Holiday Season for some interesting finds. There's quality art work, Latin American trinkets and nativity scenes, stationary, art books, sketch pads, art kits with inks made from fruits, etc. Check out the back area for silk scarves and Asian-inspired hand bags (perfect gifts for the females on my list). A chill place to browse between galleries.

Love love love this shop for unique gift items. It wouldn't be the first audience you would think of but I have actually found terrific gifts that my nephews really enjoy here. With the dismal state of arts in public schools, I feel like it's important to supplement that and appreciate the shop's thoughtful selections. I always get the most compliments for items I purchase here. I can find something to fit every price range, the volunteer shop hostesses are gems and I love that purchases support the arts and local artists. Inevitably I end up getting a one of a kind jewelry piece, scarf or notecards for moi so it really does feel good to give LOL! You can donate your classic Hawaiian treasures here too and know they will go to a good home.
