Summary. Delicious cake! Real ingredients. I will order from them again. Background. Tough to find a quality custom cake around Christmas time. So many better bakeries won't do it, as if no one is born or gets married in December. A Cake Life came through. Plain vanilla was preferred and the Classic White Cake fit the bill. There are a number of other flavors available. Ordering the smaller size (5-10), thought it would be a moderate sized layer cake. It was huge, so heavy, I weighed it, five and a half pounds! Many more servings than ten. Quality. The real buttercream icing was slathered on like buttering brick mortar, thick. Believe the cake had at least three pounds of butter. The cake layers tasted buttery, like homemade from scratch. Cost. Yes, it was pricey, but worth it. Looking through their photo gallery, there are other options, including sheet cakes, that may not be as massive and costly. One quibble, tried to convey that I wanted a holiday motif, red and green decoration. A simple Christmas tree piped across the top would have been fine. But couldn't get that across over the phone. Instead, they offered red, white and green floral decorations. Thought that meant flowers made of icing but turned out, they were real flowers and foliage. Not Christmassy at all, BUT classy. Location. Thought I knew where the bakery was. Stopped by there years ago, unsuccessfully seeking a ready made cake. They only make cakes to order. But this time, it didn't appear to be clearly marked. It's in the interior Makai-Ewa corner of the strip mall. Look for signs that say knock for deliveries. Think that's the kitchen door.

At first glance, you might be in a bit of sticker shock when you see the prices on the menu. However, the attention to detail and communication from this business is totally worth it. I have dealt with many businesses who are unresponsive or curt with their responses to inquiries, but this one was very quick to text back, very professional, and the appearance of the cake was just beautiful! I got my husband a birthday cake and he was so touched. He helped me pick it out and he loves flowers. His favorite flavor of anything is strawberry, so the strawberry filling was perfect. The roses and gold flecks were so perfectly crafted and the letters were gum paste which he enjoyed eating as well. I also got a sugar cookie which was very pretty and tasted ok. The cake bento was fun and I got to try a bunch of flavors. Top 2 were the devil's food with peanut butter and the red velvet with cream cheese. Pickup was super fast and easy, just text them and they came right out! Great service, great experience.

I was to the moon with the turn out of this cake. Good work to the amazing team here that exceeded my expectations. Can't wait to create more cakes with them.

Kristin and her team did a great job with our daughter's Barbie cake. We're vacationing here in Oahu and wanted a cake to go with the party's theme. Contacting the bakery, choosing flavors (fresh strawberries in the filling is highly recommended), and scheduling delivery were all easy to do.The cake was spotless and tasted SO good. Family who usually do not eat cake loved it!! A huge testament to how well the bakery does cake. Would recommend A Cake Life to everyone on the island.

We hired A Cake Life for the dessert at our wedding and it was the best decision!!! Initially I was only going to provide the dessert that came with our venue package, but I saw A Cake Life had a few different wedding dessert options and that they can deliver to our venue. We worked with Kristin who was so helpful in answering our questions and making sure everything was perfect. I could not be happier with how our dessert table came out and it was a huge hit with our guests! We went with cupcakes, donuts, and rice crispies and they were delicious! But my favorite was definitely our wedding cake. It was not only beautiful but tasted amazing! They really exceeded my expectations with the florals and overall design. I can't recommend them enough for weddings or other events!

Our wedding cake & cupcakes were done beautifully & were delicious! However, I have to knock down 2 stars due to Kristin Kato's unprofessionalism during the process of ordering it. After carefully picking out the design & flavors of our cake & cupcake, I submitted an order request in October 2022. My then fiancé & I were out of state, & our parents kindly agreed to give her the moneys for the order on our behalf. I stated that the payment should be paid in full by the end of November 2022. Long story short - a slew of personal life events happened, & I was not notified that the payment was not received. My Aunt/Wedding Coordinator followed up in the beginning of January 2023. My cousins were meaning to add some surprises to my order as their wedding gift to us. However, Kristin was unfortunately snide in her replies. I understand that she never got the payment, but there was no form of follow up whatsoever until my Aunt inquired. After convincing Kristin to not increase the delivery fee (per website it's $50), we finally paid the invoice in full. So, "thanks" Kristin for not only being rude and incapable of decent communication, but also ruining the surprise. It's a shame knowing that you were so sweet & easy to work with in the beginning.Oh well, everyone was happy on our wedding day.For those of you reading my experience, I just want to clarify that I still recommend A Cake Life to cater your cake, cupcakes, & other sweets for your special event. However, I would not recommend doing business personally/directly with Kristin Kato.

I visited Hawaii for my birthday and brought along 18 guests. I chose to have a small gathering just before the luau and wanted a tasty and pretty cake to celebrate. Cake works had the best reviews as well as the type of cakes that were aesthetically pleasing, so I gave them a chance.I'm SO glad I did!! The delivery was smooth and easy. The cake was well protected and remained in tact while we celebrated and sang. What a beautiful cake! WOW! Best of all, it was DELICIOUS!!! I ate my entire piece and eyed the half eaten cake next to me.I worked with Kristin who was always clear, asked clarifying questions and gave instructions at the drop off. She was professional and kind. THANK YOU for helping me create this experience for my family and friends. What's a party without the cake?I recommend Cake Works as it is professional, affordable, kind service, gorgeous cakes and TASTY!!

I still dream about our amazing wedding cake- a devil's food cake with cookies n cream frosting!! I swear I want to go back to Hawaii just to pick up a replica of this cake to devour!
