$5 Bento

Today, I visited and got the shave ice because it was so very warm. It's rich in flavor, and for the price, it's quite good. The service was fast, and the owners are so very kind. The ambiance of the truck is such that it is nicely situated near where the boats are and makes for an amazing place to visit each Saturday while visiting the nearby Kakaako Farmers Market.Their fish bentos are also quite lovely. Highly recommend!

I was running late and super hungry, stopped at the $5 bento at the bottom of ward. They only had hamburger steak and ahi belly left, I got 1 hamburger steak and 2 ahi belly. Just finished the ahi belly and it was decent for $6, the hamburger steak was a bit salty and the gravy had too much pepper... but for the price, I'd go back.I went around 2 pm and most of their selections were sold out, definitely want to try going earlier.

Excellent service! Friendly employees. Food truck looks like it's a staple to the area and we were hoping to get a dole whip and a shaved ice. We were waiting to board a boat and wanting a little refresher. It hit the spot. If in the area, give it a try!

We were looking around for local food when we saw $5 bento pop up. I rarely give 5 star reviews but this one deserves the high rating. We were greeted with a smile from the lady working and she seemed to genuinely like the food she was selling. The food was cold when we received but she had offered to heat it up for us. We were planning on keeping this for a late night snack so it didn't matter too much anyways. We got 2 bentos the first was the chili (rotating special) and the chicken adobo. And total was about $10.and change. I was surprised because it really was $5 bentos. We didn't end up eating the bentos until the next day. The chicken adobo was very good a tad salty but very good with rice to balance. The rice the next day was very bad. But not in them. We didn't eat this until a day after. The chili came with fried chicken, corn and rice. I didn't try this but I also heard it was good from my partner. Over all a great buy for only $5.

Came here around 10 ish? Only one party was in front so not too busy. We ordered one bento of beef stew, pork adobo, shoyu chicken, and chicken stew. They later added chicken adobo too but we already ordered. We also got a dole whip (6$) and choc chip cookies (2$ for 2). The dole whip was good and refreshing, they gave a good amount which was cool. The chocolate chip cookies were normal, so def homemade. The shoyu chicken bento was not good at all... they gave two chicken thighs and the sauce was SO sweet, but no flavor on the chicken though so it was not good. The chicken and beef stew were pretty good and so was the pork adobo but that one had a ton of grease and oil just sitting around the sauce lol. I like the corn they give on the side too lol.Overall not bad, good price but you kinda get what you pay for but its pretty good because everything is hecka expensive now but i feel like one bento maybe wont be enough for a meal. But theres multiple places and i feel like one of the actual stores might have more options than this food truck. We were kinda disappointed because they didnt have a lot of meat options Update: came here many more times lol and they had more options. Got their curry beef and their fish dishes? The curry was good had good flavor but the beef had a lot of fat but thats okay. Their fish dishes r pretty good too, a good amount of had good flavor. Their container size got bigger i think too lol. Also their smoothies r really good, so much better than jamba lol. Also the later u go the less options they have bc theyll sell out so around lunch time is best.

Pros: It's cheap, lots of options, always open, consistent Cons: super high in sodium, only veg is corn, stand in line with the homeless Don't eat them too often, but count on them when you need them most

Food truck advertising $5 bentos but opted for the asai bowl. Came with bananas, blue berries, strawberries, and asai in a half pineapple. $12 but worth it! So fresh and delicious. Owners are mom and pop and super nice! In a parking lot next to the tour boats - ala moana lot F. You can grab your food and eat in the picnic benches next to the lot. Simple and sweet.

Do NOT make the same mistake I made. If you see this truck, STOP passing it by, pull over get some FOOD. I kept making the assumption, thinking it's probably lame or a small bento. Because seriously what really could they give you for a $5 bento box.........one musibi roll with two pieces of small karage chicken? ? ? HahahahaAbsolutely Wrong!!! This place is legit, who offers an amazing bargain for some surprisingly good food and a healthy portion size. On the day I went they had 13 different options, 2 were premium fish options for $6. They also have desserts - açaí bowls, shave ice, and dole whip smoothies; although didn't try any desserts yet. We ordered beef stew, shoyu chicken, and shoyu pork. They seem to pre prep the food offsite and store them in trucks in warmers. The food are in large plastic bento boxes that have three separate compartments. Two smaller ones that have rice and corn and a larger one for the main dish. The food was solid, if your local boy/girl you should love it. More homey style food cookery here. The beef stew had great flavor and they give tons of meat. The meat was slightly firm. Shoyu chicken had your typical sweet/shoyu flabor, albeit this time slightly dry. The shoyu pork was more of a sweet sour sparerib flavor with pineapple included. Not regally what I was expecting but still very good. I just added more shoyu to get more shoyu flavor haha. I know you must be thinking hey that doesn't sound like a 5 review on food. Where it may have lacked slightly on food was given a major boost by the, let me say it again, FIVE DOLLAH BILL YA'll meal and for that they get the HI Five'r from this fellow. It's located in Kewalo boat harbor so there is ample amounts parking. I will be definitely be coming back for more and already planning to do meal prep for my work lunches. Go buy a bunch of these bad boys and eat them throughout the week. I don't even thinking cooking a home meal amounts to $5 per serving, if you take into account time spent. Now to reiterate this isn't your fancy pantsy greatest food you ever ate. However for $5 bucks i'd buy three of these bad boys for a ginormous mix plate over some fuuu fuuu $20+ artisan fancy bento with a quarter or less of the food haha.

I'm not pick at all. But this was the absolute worst chicken I have ever eaten in my entire life.I ordered 3 plates, shrimp, bbq chicken and shoyu chicken. The BBQ and shoyu chicken was so hard. The shoyu chicken was SO SALTY. I could barely take a bite before I threw it away. I thought it had to be a prank. Unbelievable. The 2 plates today was a total waste of money. I'm still in shock. I have never eaten chicken so bad.Total disappointment. Go figure the plate is $5. The soda is $2. Unbelievable. Chicken soaked in straight kikkoman soy sauce is disgusting.I hate to do this. But that is how bad this was.
