Ready to harvest cocoa
Lil' house...for goats
Co-owner, Michael, with a freshly opened pod for tasting. The white outside covering tastes like Lilikoi or passion fruit to me.

I had a fantastic time learning about cacao from Maria and Michael, co-owners, of this farm. They were both full of knowledge and very engaging. Be ready for Michael's "dad jokes", they may be the best part of the show!! I was here on a tour with my friend from high school and her husband and kids. We were both born and raised here but relocated after college to the mainland. However, like a lot of kama'aina do, we come back to visit family for the holidays. . Getting here may feel a little questionable, even with their personalized directions. You drive a bit into the mouth of Waihe'e Valley from Kamehameha Highway. There's not a lot of signage or obviously displayed addresses along the winding road. If you're a tourist, you might want to practice reading Hawaiian street signs. I was born and raised here, i can read them, I can imagine many rental cars stopping at all the signs going, WTF?!?! When you find the entrance to the property, continue up the dirt road, past the small huts & shacks to the dirt parking area. Once parked, you stroll back down to the hut where they'll roll call and share their knowledge. There's a short walking part of the tour that takes you into the cacao grove and to the lower be hive. Along the way you will find many, many, many "canoe crop" fruits and plants like breadfruit, mountain apple, lychee and many more! This all comes to a glorious end with the chocolate and honey tasting. If you're counting calories, don't worry, they told me single origin chocolate is healthy, eat up!!! Don't worry, there's a little shack with chocolate, honey and merch for purchase so you can spread the aloha from 21 Degrees Estates.

My 10-year Navy veteran granddaughter is stationed here on Oahu and I am here visiting from Las Vegas. I surprised her with the most amazing tour of all Hawaii. She couldn't stop talking about it. It made me smile as I watched as she told her fiancé in detail all about it. She even shared that they were going to be volunteers during their "Fall Harvest".Hawaii cacao is the rarest cacao origin in the world. If you have the slightest interest in agriculture...this is a must do tour.

My wife loves chocolate, so we decided to check out the Cacao farm tour on the North Shore. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner Maria, and her beautiful pup Koda. Maria and Michael were fun and engaging with our tour group, they have done an incredible job with maintaining and growing their Cacao farm over the past decade. They gave us a tour of the farm, including the very cool beekeeping areas, and showed us the end-to-end process of how the cacao beans become chocolate. We lucked out with some great weather, as there had been some heavy storms over the past few weeks. At the end of the tour, we were able to sample different variations of their chocolates, all in all it was very informative and a fun experience!Best,Charlie

As far as Oahu must do's, this is top of my list!! Our family had an amazing time at 21 Degrees, and learned so much about cacao production and the nuances of flavor with the single origin chocolates. The owners do a fantastic job walking you through each stage of the cacao plant from seed to chocolate, as well as teaching about a lot of other Hawaiian vegetation and superfoods, and of course the bees and honey! Also, The farm is unbelievably gorgeous! I highly suggest checking this place out if you're visiting (or live on) Oahu, you will not be disappointed!

Maria and Michael were fantastic, as were Coda and the lady goats. The crew did a fantastic job of explaining the history of the farm and how it came to be. They also shared the joy of the fruits of the farm and how it's anchored in being good stewards of the land and respecting Hawaiian culture. Needless to say, learning more about Ulu, Turmeric, Honey, and Cacao was a joy. Enjoying proper quality chocolate, while standing were it's being gown is amazing and is a big reason why my taste buds were opening to single estate micro-lot Hawaiian chocolate. Also being able to bring these goodies home to share with others makes the food pusher in me very happy. Would recommend the experience to anyone!

Visited 21° Estates for the tour last year and it was excellent. I've told family and friends it is a must. Michael and Maria are very welcoming, we learned a lot and enjoyed it fully. We returned for their Farm to Table dinner event and were glad we did. It was very special and a lovely night with local items prepared and explained by Chef while a lovely musician played in the background. This dinner was a real treat. Next we want to plan to return for goat yoga or any volunteer day.

Maria and Michael have a lovely cacao farm; they were incredibly kind and gracious and I learned a lot about chocolate and got to experience fresh cacao! They also have the most adorable miniature goats and Alaskan malamute.I think the thing I appreciated most though was the sense of commitment to service I got from them. They are dedicated to learning and teaching others about quality and creating amazing food. I love that they created this farm with a vision of its place within Hawaii and shaping a future they want.
