Paws & Pinots at Indochine is so much fun! This special patio event features local pet vendors, welcomes pets, and offers half-off glasses of wine--you can't get any better than that! The atmosphere is fantastic--you can feel everyone's good spirits as pets make friends and the wine flows. Their patio is beautifully set up with plenty of tables, and the service is quick and friendly. The food is also delicious!I ordered appetizers for the table, and my favorites were the Krazy Fried Rice, Lemongrass Fries, and Malaysian Fried Chicken Wings. I would definitely come back and bring my friends so they can enjoy it as much as I did!

This is my second time here. The food is absolutely delicious, our service was friendly and great, decor and ambiance top notch. We loved all these factors so much that we came back and brought a retreat group here. Unfortunately both times it was so uncomfortably cold it was hard to enjoy the experience. I brought layers the second time but was still very cold and all the girls were freezing, 2 had to leave early and wait outside because they were so cold. We love the restaurant so much and it's delicious but not sure if it'll be my first pick next time unless they stop having the AC ice cold. Either that or I'll have to bundle up and wear a beanie and boots! I'm not sure why they keep it so cold when everyone is so uncomfortable with the temperature!I highly recommend this restaurant if you layer up or just naturally run really hot. Hope this feedback helps

This is one of those spots on Oahu that deserves A LOT more attention, but you also don't want it to get too popular so it can always be your best kept secret.First off, the ambiance is like no other. You get transported to another world when you enter and walk past the bar. It's dark and intimate, perfect for date night while also being aesthetically pleasing for a get-together with church friends (like us). Basically, instagram ready for any occasion! We came here on a weeknight, so service was great; we were able to spend some time talking to our server and that is a plus in my book. Any server who gives us their time can really enhance the experience. I noticed there's actually two levels so I'm guessing this place can get pretty busy on weekends, but who knows, I can only speak of what I know. The food: SOOOO GOOD, like unbelievable good. After our first bite my husband and I knew we had to come back to conquer the menu. My husband got the cast iron beef tataki (hotplate) and it tasted as good or even better than the fanfare it was presented with. Our friends got the imperial roll, crab cake, and pork belly. Highly recommend coming here with friends so you can taste a little bit of everything LOL I had the crab lumpia and Krazy fried noodles with porkbelly and I wish we ate more appetizers so I could eat half and go home with leftovers.Seriously, 10/10 recommend for anyone, anytime, and any reason.

The world food tour duo reunited at 1938 Indochine after spending Christmas and New Year at opposite ends of the world ... Japan and the Caribbean. It has been almost three years since we dined here; we wondered about changes. The décor remains unchanged (good); there have been changes to the menu.First off, what happened to the valet? I ended up self-parking in one of the last two stalls in the lot. Those are the best stalls in the building as no one can park next to you.Zack was our server, and I ordered a bottle of Belle Glos Las Alturas, a steal at $68. Alas, they didn't have any, so I asked for a Trefethen Merlot. Uh, no dice. (Shades of Piero's in Las Vegas where it took four tries to select a bottle.) We ended up with a 2020 Twomey Pinot Noir ($130). It was deep purple with earthiness and quite a bit of red fruit.Meanwhile, we placed orders for one Oyster Shooter (for me, $7), Green Papaya Mango Salad ($18), Krazy Fried Noodles with Pork Belly ($18), Cast Iron Beef Tataki ($25), Black Bean Eggplant ($17), and Malaysian Chicken Wings ($18). If this sounds like a lot of food for two seniors, it was.The Green Papaya Mango salad was a visual treat, with julienned red onion and bell peppers, edamame, and halved cherry tomatoes. I didn't taste any mango, but I liked the dish. The oyster shooter was good; I remember when it came as part of a trio of shooters ... I suppose the oyster variant proved to be the most popular.Zack brought three sauces for the beef but the next dish to arrive was the Malaysian Fried Chicken Wings. These were great! The large wings were coated with five spice and served with a spiced vinegar and chili sauce. I didn't need any sauce; the wings were delicious! The beef came in a smoking, sizzling platter. Slices of Washugyu beef were laid atop garlic and shiitake mushrooms seared in soy and truffle oil with a few tomato halves. Visually, not the most appealing dish but the beef was tender. I thought the mushrooms were the star of the dish. The Krazy Fried Noodles arrived but looked incomplete. The chef forgot to put the diced pork belly atop the noodles. This was the least successful dish for us as it was somewhat dry. If the soft boiled egg halves were less done, the yolk would have added silkiness to the dish. We wondered if the Krazy Fried Rice (which we've had previously) would have been better. My favorite dish was the Black Bean Eggplant. Strips of quartered Japanese eggplant were fried with red onion, ginger, garlic in a sweet soy sauce, topped with chopped green onions. It was rich and unctuous ... A winner! What did we think? Alas, the upstairs dining area remains closed and there wasn't any live music. The prerecorded music was pretty loud and (IMO) didn't match the theme of the restaurant. I love the décor; the food was fine, and we're glad we were seated in a booth because the table was just large enough to hold all of the dishes we ordered. Recommended: 4.25.

Located in Salt in Kakaako, this fusion restaurant has one of the best ambiences of any upper tier restaurant on Oahu. Walking in, there is potential sensory overload as it's overwhelmingly pleasing aesthetically. The food matches the ambiance as there is plenty to choose from and the bar is full service and staffed with skilled tenders. 1938 Indochine has never been a bad choice and confident you will have the same experience!

My honey and I came here for date night upon recommendation of a patient. We had previously visited pre-COVID when they first opened and were still working out the kinks. We were pleasantly surprised with the tasty cocktails and fast service. We had the garlic noodles, spicy eggplant, crab lumpia, and lechon, for dinner, which were all fabulous. Every dish coming out of the kitchen smelled great and we had a hard time picking from their diverse south East Asian options. Next time, we will definitely save room for dessert! We opted for the spacious indoor seating for the busy dinner hour on a Friday night. We also learned they have a cigar bar, which could be enjoyed in their outside dining area. The restaurant was a great spot for a date night and for big groups as well!

Tried the imperial roll which was not crispy, soggy and not flavorful. Beef tataki was poor - tough cuts of beef and overcooked. The Sisig was decent. The service was good but the server appeared to never have tried any of their dishes and could not make any recommendations. The water they serve is warm and we have to pour our own. I prefer my water with ice. It was not busy so workers were standing around socializing. The ambiance was nice, it would be a great place to get drunk, if you drink, which I don't. Not coming back because could not find much Vietnamese nor French fare, saw some Filipino and Chinese dishes on the menu though.

first time at indochine and it didn't disappoint! I went to the paws and pinot event which was dog friendly. Its only held once a month on thursday nights from 6pm. I think the catch was that you need to sign up for their rewards program to get the 50% discounts on their wine selections if you're planning on drinking. you also need 2 or more dogs to get the chicken and pupsicle. They even had this little selfie booth that night too. It was such a fun and well thought out event! I really liked how they incorporated pet businesses and allowed them to vend for free! We went to support our friends stacie from stacie leis and charms and debbie from dash raw pets. i actually had reservations prior to finding out they will be there, so this was a bonus for sure! We had a fairly large table outside next to the vendor booths - it was a nice outdoor patio that was really spacious. some of the booths just had like wine jugs (?) as tables and luckily we didn't get that cause we ordered a lot of food!We tried a little bit of everything - i think my favorites was the bao buns, hamachi, and the sizzling steak. I also love that they're dog friendly! Im sure the interior is beautiful, but we didn't get to see it! Hopefully we can make it to another one because it was so fun! but its probably cause the company was good too :) some pro tips -- parking is valet only ($7) in the building or you can opt to park on the street. - We came 1/2 hour early prior to the event to catch the happy hour promos.
