My girlfriends and I had heard rumors about this place. We were so glad we found it! An old fashion typical neighborhood bar in the middle of nowhere Hickam AFB. You do need base access to get to it tho... we immediately felt at home. Even witnessed a "coin down" hadn't seen that go on in years. Will def be back w the husbands... without the husbands... just cool... our bartender is a retired cop from Ohio... that should tell you everything. Helps that I only live a couple of miles from it too! Good times had by all.

Great option for an after work cocktail on Hickam AFB with a nice view of the golf course. The drinks are strong (yay) and the staff is friendly. Good for groups and we will be back!

For the people that live on base, you are blessed to have this hole in the wall! I think for most golfers this small bar and restaurant is a must between their games. They have an awesome beer collection from domestic to international selections. The food can come from next door while you're drinking at the bar, it isn't much of a selection but I have to tell you about the pork nachos. If I remember correctly it was Kalua pork nachos and man this place does it right! Pulled pork topped with all the cheese, jalepeno, olives, and so on, but man that pork was on point. It wasn't too wet or dry just right and tender. Man my mouth is watering right now. On Friday nights, they do set up a huge Karaoke system, so you can sing your heart out to a lot all night. Lots of military here, so everyone here is a professional drinker - you're in good hands!

This place surprised me. This bar is hidden on Hickam airforce base. If you asked me how to get here I could not tell you. There is a Mexican restaurant right next to it and I was tempted to see if I could buy food there and bring it into the bar. This bar is a typical dive bar. Dim lighting, and all the furniture is older than me. There is also outdoor seating. If you are looking for a bar that had lots of 20 somethings this is not the bar. I'd like to say the average age was 40-50. My best friend and I were definitely the youngest people there. The bartenders definitely know what they are doing. And this bar had the best moscow mule I have had on island! Also their draft beer choices are pretty awesome. The best part is everything is super cheap! They do have pop corn that you can have for free and it's self serve. I'm not sure i would be back. But I bet it would be an awesome place to get a drink after a round of golf. (The golf course is located right next to it)

(Queue Cheers Theme Music)..."Sometimes you want to go, where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same, you wanna be where everybody knows your name".I had to get that out of my system. Just like the sitcom...The 10th Puka is one of those bars that serves up good drinks and good times without breaking the bank. Now, I have to say without making the Puka sound pretentious, it caters to a select crowd. Needless to say you have to be able to access Hickam AFB (Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, Retired) or be a guest of a military friend in order to partake in the festivities. The Puka is not flashy or fancy and can be compared to the corner pub in Anytown, USA, and that's its appeal. It's totally different (and a good change of pace) from the bars and clubs which dot Waikiki. The don't serve up any food, but there is a Mexican place right next door which will bring food over to your table at the Puka!! Mexican delivery to a bar!!? It doesn't get any better than that. The busiest night by far is every Friday starting at about 1600 ish (that's 4 pm for you civilian types) and it runs till about midnight. Friday also features Karaoke which is always fun after you've had one too many. The folks that run the Karaoke are always taking suggestions and updating their playlists, so that's pretty cool. The other nights of the week are pretty slow, with a regular crowd. Friday is definitely when it gets packed. The Puka is definitely a spot where you can gather with friends, let your hair down and kick a few back after a stressful week. Oh did I mention that the lanai back to a golf course? Hmm, cool bar, good drinks, food next door, Karaoke and a view, that's what I'm talking about! So if you find yourself on Hickam on a Friday night I would recommend stopping by.

This is a place where your creative juices can flow. Many decisions have been made while sitting at the Puka discussing issues over a drink. Hole in the wall? Yeah. Good place to come to after work to beat out the traffic? Yes. Free popcorn? Yes. Food? Yes, you can order food from the Mexican restaurant next door and have it brought over. TV? Yes, sports are always on and you can request your channel. They are more than accommodating. Prices? Good. Service? Never had a problem. Indoor and outdoor seating available? Yes. Wifi? Yes! If you find yourself on Hickam, head over to the Par Three Golf Course and check out the Puka.

A good place to have a beer after your 7 holes of disc golf might come back another time and actually actually golf.

The Puka is your "Cheers" bar. It's an establishment where you feel as though you're family. The service is great and be prepared to introduce yourself, they genuinely care. Once introduced, you become a "Puka Bum" and the stories will pour in! Highly recommended!

I was stationed at Hickam from 1980-86 and being part of the Command Crew 61-2671 we always gathered there pau hana time. Boy did we spend a lot of time there. Great place to relax after long hours of maintenance. The only thing Better is a kegger on Aloha Friday's at the hanger.
