TOO GOOD ! It's been way too long since we have eaten here...close to 21 months. Even though there are heaps of Asian eateries around Irvine where we moved to in Nov, 2022 no one serves authentic Chinese food like this place. Forget about the cheesy ambience inside an old movie theater that is mostly an Asian supermarket...it's all about the incredible food. WEEKEND GETAWAY ! My wife and I hit the road at 10.30am on Friday to kick off our fun packed weekend down in San Diego. We hit heavy traffic as expected but better earlier than later. FIRST STOP ! We arrived here for lunch around 12.30pm. While my wife parked our car I headed inside to the restaurant....to my surprise Joe the long time manager recognized me straight off and showed me to a vacant table in the corner. TOO EASY ! When Joe popped over to say hi I gave him our lunch order. We knew exactly what we wanted...1 x Kung Pao Shrimp and 1 x Honey Walnut Shrimp. Joe came back with a pot of Jasmine tea and 2 tall iced waters. IT WAS PACKED ! Before too long Joe brought out my wife's huge serve of Honey Walnut Shrimp. Within 2 or 3 minutes my delectable looking Kung Pao Shrimp hit the table. MOUTHSATIONAL ! Trust me no one serves authentic Chinese food as good as here. My Kung Pao Shrimp tasted amazing...no tails on the shrimp and it was kicked up just enough. My wife was in gourmet food heaven enjoying her Honey Walnut Shrimp but I did have to pinch a few of her juicy shrimp with walnuts. THE BEST ANYWHERE !CHECK OUT - my video of our lunch order at https://youtu.be/Ejn06mPatGMNOTE - Of course with 20 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2023 I can tell you what is great !

We had the most delicious meal at Hong Kong BBQ Kitchen. This is the first time we bought live crab at the Asian market that is in the same building as the restaurant and took them to the restaurant where they prepared them for us. You can't get better than fresh crab.We also tried Shrimp Shu Mai, Shrimp dumplings, Kung Pao Shrimp and Shrimp with crispy noodles. What a treat. The restaurant is bare bones in terms of ambiance, but we didn't go there for the atmosphere. The wait staff are helpful.

Such a great spot for some Chinese comfort food and dim sum . This spot gives me old Lys Garden vibes in City Heights before they shut down . Definitely one of my go-to's when I need to cure a hangover lol . Here's my food review:Beef chow fun (wet) -- jammed packed with flavor, huge portion, slurpy noodles, would totally come back just for this dish . Bbq pork over rice-- looks pretty, but looks are decieving . Pork was a bit dry, and the rice was old and hard . Pork/ shrimp sui mai-- more pork than shrimp . Mediocre with a porky aroma-- definitely better with chili oil vinegar sauce . Shrimp har gow-- one of my favs . Shrimp filling was plump and rice wrapper was thin and chewy ! So fresh !Baked bbq pork bun-- I ordered a an extra order to-go because it was that delicious . Inside filling was sweet/savory, and seasoned well-- but could be a bit more plentiful . The bun itself was a dream-- pillowy, soft, fresh baked, fluffy, SOOOO GOOD . Get these ! Mochi pork fried bun-- deep fried beautifully . Outside was light and crisp-- inside meat was succulent and juicy . Get these as well ! Xiao long bao-- mediocre, yet satisfying .Overall, a family fav for home style Chinese bbq. It's one of those places where some days different plates are fresher that others -- they'll keep you on your toes-- just pray lol . Customer service is good. Place gets packed on weekends, so go early . Plenty of parking. Located inside the Vinh Hung supermarket .

Ordered a bunch of dim sum and food and overall nothing stood out. It was quite disappointing and underwhelming. Wouldn't go again.

Hong Kong BBQ Kitchen has authentic Cantonese food. Big portions with good price. Friendly and fast services. The ladies always have a smile on their faces.Delicious food: salt and pepper chicken wings - loved it! Crispy outside, juicy and tender inside, not dried. Orange peeled chicken: not over fried like many restaurants. It has hinted taste of orange. Spring rolls as appetizer: has 8 pieces in an order. Crispy and the temperature is just right when brought out! Tasty.Salted fish and chicken fried rice: an authentic Cantonese fried rice dish. Good portion of salted fish in the fried rice. It satisfied wify's craving. Will definitely return for more.

*Note: review for take out only*I really appreciate the option to order online for pick up here, which makes ordering for take out so quick and easy. I have ordered from Hong Kong BBQ Kitchen plenty of times, and they are always fast when it comes to getting the order ready. The best thing to get here is their chicken wings. They are so flavorful and are not dry at all.Other dishes that we've tried before:-Beef chow fun (dry style) $17.95 - this is a great option when you are craving chinese food-Sweet and sour pork $17.95 - this comes packed separately from the sauce, which is okay, but doesn't taste the best to go. Might be better to eat it in the restaurantDim sum:-Baked BBQ Pork Bun $5.88 - this is okay, was a bit dry inside-Stewed Chicken feet $6.88 - this was good, but pricy for only 4 pieces-Shrimp dumpling $6.88 - this was good, but the dumplings were very small-Magic rice wrapped aka sticky rice $6.88 - this comes in 2, but the inside was not as flavorful as other places

This is a great place located INSIDE Vinh Hung Supermarket. You can order to eat there or take it to go. Newly updated interior. Plenty of seats for indoor seating available. No outdoor. The restaurant is clean, but the surrounding is not. Bathroom is filthy, but they share it with the supermarket and there's only one restroom to use.Chow fun w/beef was amazing. Full of flavor unlike some of their competitors nearby. My daughter buys this all the time....more like has us buying it for her. Salt and pepper wings are tasty. This is our go-to place just for the wings alone. We order the small/large party trays a lot. They have a big selection of party tray sections to choose from any of your catering needs. The staff is super nice. I have eaten there and ordered food to go. I haven't really had an issue thus far. Come to think of it we have never eaten lunch here...just dinner or catering trays to go.

I love this place. The food is really good and the service is fast. I try to stop here whenever we are going to Padres games or coming back from San Diego. I like to order their chicken feet and a duck.
