I grew up eating the steak sandwiches and fries. I never had anything else they sell because of how great tasting the steak is. I've introduced so many friends and family members to the place. I look forward to continuing to enjoy the steak when I'm in town.

You don't have to read this explanation but the photos tell my story. In short, I my sandwich was wrong when my Mom and I got home. I had to pay for my corrected order. Heres why,,,If it's prepared the way you want. Beware! If your order is in writing, BE SURE that THEY read off to you what they allegedly write down for your order. Reason? If THEY get it wrong when u get to your destination, they will make you pay for the error (making it seem as if YOU didn't read what was written). They will correct the error ...at your expense. It will be corrected 45 minutes later (so don't be on your lunch break) and don't order fries because your originally special order fries (which was also read at the end of the written order) will be cold and you'll have to pay for that too unless you prefer cold fries with a freshly remade sandwich. Reason you're wrong (even if the receipt is wrong too), is because they "repeated the order 3 times" and "the security guard heard them read the order off" . Also make sure your memory is sharp. That will make YOU even more wrong...AT YOUR EXPENSE.Otherwise, the sandwiches are typically delicious.

You need to order first. I also heard the turkey sub is really good. I had the steak hoagy, Polish sausage & fries. the fries are homemade. it was good.

The traditional Hoagy was quite tasty.. the more popular "Sweet Steak" Hoagie is wildlyPopular but I'm personally not a fan.. BUT.. you should DEFINITELY try it once... they havent been this popular for no reason

They now sell steak sandwiches made with impossible meat and turkey just FYI. Iconic place. Long a** lines and wait. Great steak sandwiches and fries with sauce, along with the hoagies. This spot is legendary, so those who get it, get it. No need for a long review! It's worth the headache (every once in a while)

Disclaimer, I've been going here since I was a small child, so over30 years. Service is ridiculously slow. If you know, you know how to do it here. You place your order,pay, sit in your car for 20-30 min, and then go back in for your order. It is never faster than that unless you get there at 11am when they open. At opening time, there is usually a small line. Sucks but the steak sweet is amazing and the steak fries with sauce are a must have. Cash only so be prepared, which is another sucky part for what they charge.

The steak sandwich is going to be amazing every single time. From highland to Chicago just for this sandwich!

It would be great if this place used different/separate cutters for the pork-based and turkey products. For non-pork eaters, do NOT order ANY hoagies from jere because ALL meats are cut using the same cutter. CROSS-CONTAMINATION. IOWs, non-pork eaters are getting pork remnants and flavor on their sandwiches.The service is basically the same as it has always been. Slow. I think I'm still waiting for my order from more than 6 years ago. The major differences between now and 20 years ago are the higher prices, smaller portions and bigger waiting area. Service is still extremely slow.Inside is COLD!!!! Eight chairs are provided for those lucky to snair one during your long wait. Ain't nothing changed since I began coming in 1978.

Food is always great and fresh. Love the call in system. Order is ready within few minutes of arrival. Restaurant was clean
