Hobgoblin Bar

This place is pretty cute. It's definitely unusual in terms of the interior. Hubs and I were hungry and this was a nice later evening dinner place. They had an extensive bar with some playful cocktails, including mocktails (for me). We started with SALMON TARTARE WITH SPICY LIME DRESSING and the TOM KHA CRISPY CHICKEN SPRING ROLL. Both were tasty, but I really liked the spring rolls best. I ordered the grilled shrimp phad thai which was flavorful. There was the right amount of sauce and noodles. Hubs ordered the grilled ribeye and it arrived looking so beautiful! Actually both our entrees looked really playful and tasty. He said it was good, unique in flavors with a kick of spicy. We were pretty full so we didn't get any dessert. Our server was so sweet! He was patient and very helpful giving us the rundown of the menu. We dined late so it was around our server's mealtime as well, but our server never skimped on service and making sure our glasses of water were full. He checked back frequently to see how our food was during each course and was so attentive. Definitely check out the bar and have a drink or two. Our server told us they have dueling pianos during the weekend. The vibe is really fun and chill.

Great bar with some fun cocktails! It's always slightly busy but the service is fast. You'll get prompt seating either upstairs or downstairs - both have slightly different vibes but are great. Downstairs has live music meanwhile the upstairs area resembles more of your generic bar. I highly recommend trying the different cocktails here. They all come with a fun poem and description to keep it fun. The food is pretty good too - we just got fries but everyone else's plates looked great. I'd definitely come back to try the food as well as a few more of the cocktails!

Interior and aesthetic was very cool: upscale magic vibe with candles, fancy chandeliers & wall paper, and dim lighting. Would be a great place for dates, meeting a friend, or small groups. Downstairs is another lounge/cocktail area (with a piano) that would be great for dates. Service was prompt, and our server was pleasant and helpful. Ordered the raspberry lobster rangoon (we devoured before I got a picture!), drunken chicken (was delicious; chicken had great flavor and I asked for spice level 2, which was not too spicy; wanted the noodles and veggies to have more salt or flavors), and shrimp pad Thai (be aware that the shrimp is cooked and served whole on top of the pad Thai. My husband dismantled the shrimp on separate plate then returned the shrimp meat to the pad Thai.)Ordered the delicious "Binding by Oath" cocktail (Loved that each cocktail, aka "potion", comes with spell card to go specifically with your potion.)

Marketed as a Gastropub, this establishment was half cocktail bar and half restaurant. The interior was actually very tasteful and grand, and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was also quite delicious and at a fair price, with good portions. The cocktails had clever names and stories, and came with little information cards, which I thought was very cute. I would return again, and bring more friends!

The piano bar in the basement was great. Nice ambiance down there for quick drinks, a relaxed evening, or intimate date night. Drinks were tasty and creative. Food was good for the most part. Everything was flavorful but the meats could've been cooked better and better pieces (one plate was overcooked and the other two were a little undercooked for medium, and fatty). Lemongrass ribeye and the salted caramel/ vanilla lava cake were the highlights of the meal. They replaced the overcooked piece of meat and our waitress was nice, so service was great.

Just stopped in for a quick drink. The vibe is very cool, and service was quick and friendly. The Beckoning Hand was a pretty solid riff on an old fashioned, though it didn't blow me away.

Great vibe for date night and hangout with friends. Basement floor has live music. Front desk host was super nice and friendly However, the drinks were bad (had several cocktails, all too sweet). The margarita was not bad

There aren't many jazz bars in Boston so I would come here again for the vibes, but wouldn't have high expectations of the food or drinks. Ambience is quite nice as the jazz performance was not too loud even when we were sitting right next to the performance. Service is good as well, no complaints. I had made a reservation for a group of us and had no issues with the seating or with ordering.Parking could be quite difficult to find. You might get lucky during non-peak hours with street parking. Otherwise, it will be quite pricey parking in any of the garages nearby. Would recommend public transportation if you can.

Excellent, well balanced craft cocktails! Beautiful glassware! Seated immediately on a busy Saturday in August. Cannot recommend more!!!

Best meal we had in Boston. Edamame, Onion Rings, Pad Thai, mussels, Crab Fried Rice. All were the best we had ever had.
