Seattle seems to have tons of Vietnamese restaurants. My parents raved about Hoang Lan since they mentioned the broth tends to be lighter and less oily. My son is also gradually acquiring the taste of grilled pork over rice, and my wife loves BBH (Spicy Pork Blood Noodle Soup). Sounds like a win-win-win!The restaurant shared a huge parking lot with Safeway, and its tucked way in the back corner of the lot. You enter through the back hallway with bathroom and kitchen, but you'll eventually reach the dining area. Whew, so its not a hole-in-wall after all.The food here is legit, especially grilled pork over broken rice. The pork is marinated and juicy, but note you may need to trim around the fat and bone to get that awesome meat. I also enjoy the texture of broken rice since it seems to soak up flavor more by not sticking together. My 3yo son loved this dish - he gobbled up the pork as soon as I cut it for him.My dish was the grilled chicken vermicelli. Solid dish, and it seems like they threw in some pork sausage too. Wife enjoyed BBH but didn't care for pig feet. She commented her favorite BBH is Pho Saigon City in Pleasanton, CA.Overall 4 stars - a very good Vietnamese place. They even have this pork four ways rice dish with grilled, shredded, skin, and sausage preparations that I'll definitely want to try next time in Seattle!

Hoang Lan is a go-to spot for those seeking a hearty bowl of bún bò Huế. The standout feature here is the flavorful broth, which truly captures the essence of this Vietnamese specialty. Each spoonful is a comforting and savory experience that's bound to satisfy your taste buds. Moreover, they don't skimp on the meat portions, ensuring that every bite is filled with tender and succulent beef or pork. It's perfect for those who appreciate generous servings in their noodle soup. However, for spice enthusiasts, there's a minor drawback. The bún bò Huế at Hoang Lan tends to be on the milder side. While it has a pleasant kick of heat, it could certainly use a bit more intensity to elevate the dish to its full potential. That said, if you're looking for a no-fuss, straightforward dining experience with delicious broth and ample meat, Hoang Lan is a solid choice. It's a place where you can enjoy a comforting bowl of bún bò Huế without any culinary frills.

- This was a small local business, with their best known dish being bun bo hue! It's a small restaurant, with a total of 10-14 tables. Lots of families in the area come here, so there might be a little wait if you come here on a weekend. It was delicious though!- Of course we all (6 of us) ordered large bun bo hues ($13 each). It was a big portion for a good price! You could definitely share this between two people, but don't get me wrong. Definitely beast this bowl on your own if you're hungry. - The broth is delicious, the noodles are cooked well, there are big pieces of liver and the protein is good. I would probably come back again but just with family. Although it does seem like it's not as spicy as it used to be. Maybe catering to a Seattle that keeps getting gentrified? Tragic. But that's commentary for a different website. - I also heard the vietnamese coffee is really good here. I haven't tried it but I heard it was good. - Although I was most impressed by the service! There was one guy running the entire floor.- Definitely stop by and support them if you're craving some Vietnamese soup!

I learned that every family's BBH has its own profile. This BBH is made with quality ingredients and a good heart with a lighter flavor profile IMO. I don't have a MSG effect after having the soup. The service is fast and friendly. If I'm in the area, I will definitely come back for more. Pricing is friendly compared to other pho restaurants around CID and not to mention in the Eastside. Parking and another entrance is in the back from the Safeway parking direction.

Their star dish seems to be bun bo hue, which definitely is pretty good here. I came back to try some other things such as their hu tieu nam vang kho, which was just okay. The sauce they used could have been more flavorful. I've had better elsewhere! They're generous with the meat in the nem cuon, so that's a plus. Free hot tea is also great, especially if youre coming here after a night of drinking lol

This place is one of my favorite places to eat in the Seattle. I've been here several times, and everything I've ordered so far have been excellent. For a first time diner, I'd recommend getting the Bunh Bot Loc (tapioca dumplings with shrimp inside) as an appetizer. It's hard to find in Seattle, but it tastes great and it's a great appetizer size for a party of 2 or 3. The Bun Bo Hue is also excellent. The portions are great for the price and the broth is tasty. The ingredients seem like they are high quality, and you can really taste all the flavored from the ingredients imparted in the broth. I can echo other reviews that the service is fast and friendly. If you're in the area, check out and support this family-owned business!

A small local business. Parking can be found in the back. We came here for breakfast one morning, and the service and food were alright. My family ordered some soup and noodle dishes, and they were underwhelmed. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which I thought was pretty tasty but not the best I've had. It was super spicy though, I couldn't finish it! We also enjoyed the Banh Bot Loc, since that is not typically served in restaurants where we're from. Overall, we had higher expectations that were not met, but it got our Vietnamese food cravings satisfied for the day.

Local spot, definitely small business that has a lot of loyal customers. Parking in the back lot by Safeway or the front (if you're lucky to get street parking). Food is good and super fresh. Prices are affordable/super good when considering the price of everything else. Partner got bun bo hue and enjoyed it (I did too)! And I got the pork and shrimp steamed tapioca dumplings. It's 20 pieces, I just don't like that the shrimp has shells, otherwise everything was tasty.

I was on the Link light rail close to lunch, after just having flown back to Seattle. I wanted to find a place on the way home and this place certainly fit the bill. Hole in the wall, tops 9 tables, just steps away from the Othello light rail station. And really good food!First impression was really good: the sights, sounds, and smells all made me feel like I'd entered a little restaurant in Da Nang rather than one in Seattle. Notably, among the 10 or so people crammed into the little place (people came and went while I was there), I was the *only* person who didn't speak Vietnamese. Clearly a local place frequented by people in the neighborhood. (I later found out the place has been here for 30+ years.)Second the food: I ordered a lemonade, which the waiter made fresh for me. With fresh limes (okay limeade). (I really want salted plum, but they had recently stopped carrying it.) Delicious, not too sweet. I ordered the chicken and pork vermicelli bowl. It was a large bowl chock full of chicken, pork, vermicelli, peanuts, lettuce, and other vegetables. Very tasty. I'd have preferred it a little spicier, but that was easily solved with the hot sauce provided at the table.Although I'm not a vegetarian (but my girlfriend is), I asked about options given that the menu showed very few vegetarian selections. Hai, one of the owners, indicated that there were a few dishes that could be made vegetarian (not on the menu so ask!).Great place. I'll be back. Especially while going to or from the airport.

Amazing bun bo hue , fast service, cash only ( I think?). Fresh ingredients, plenty of vegetables come with it that are clean and fresh. Restaurant is dated and dingy, bathrooms.....let's not even talk about them....Parking in the back of the restaurant !
