Hiro Sushi

In a non descript strip mall, you'll find this excellent sushi restaurant, and I ended up here last week after a car maintenance appointment.I definitely like really good pieces of fresh sushi, and this place did not disappoint and made me pretty happy.I sat at the sushi bar, and the sushi chef helped to serve me. I first started with the blue fin, and this was very tasty. I don't really put any soy sauce on my pieces of fish as I enjoy it raw with a smear of wasabi.Next, I had the nanbanzuke. When I asked the chef what this is, he described it as kind of like chicken nuggets. I don't know thats how I would have described it, but it was tasty. It's really a marinated fish of your choice that has a coating that's been fried or perhaps pan-fried. This felt like a comfort dish, and I could have used some rice with it.The last thing I had was tuna belly, and that was just delicious! And I loved how it was fresh and a little fatty in texture.Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back when I am in the area and want some nice pieces of sushi!

What can I say, this is the best sushi place in AZ. The fish is fresh and the service is pretty good.They are a popular place and I HATE their seating process. They dont take reservations and you can't put a name on the list without physically driving there. So drive there, put name on the list and then wait 1.5 - 2 hours. Are you kidding me? There are 10X more visits that we would make here, but can not conform to their seating policy.So if you enjoy spending at least an hour outdoors waiting for a table, then this place is for you.

SO fresh! My partner and I tried this on a whim one night, we waited about 15-20 minutes and sat at the bar. It was absolutely worth it and more. We befriended the couple next to us and they confirmed; you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.We've been meaning to go back for a full date night out!

My friend and I haven't been here since 2015. We decided to revisit, glad we did. We've come here several time so far for lunch, each time has been very good both service and food. We tend to always try to get a seat at the sushi bar. In addition, we stay away from the lunch specials and just order what we like.My friend and I have had a lot of items our last several visits. The Hamachi Kama is exceptional along with the Oysters. If you are not a sushi eater the Nabeyaki Udon is amazing (keep in mind it does take a bit of time, but worth it).So far so good, as long as the food and service stay good, we'll be regulars!

Hands down the best sushi I have had in the valley, and for the price?? unbeatable! I went on a Friday at 11:45 with one other person, I did not expect it to be so packed 15 minutes after opening, but hey, that's a good sign! We sat at the sushi bar, didn't have to wait luckily and we kept ordering and ordering because it was so good. After a sushi roll, 3 different variation of nigiri, carpaccio, fried baby octopus, and 3 hot sakis, only $100. Where else can you go that gets fresh fish daily and only pay that much? No where. It's very unassuming from the outside in a strip center and when you walk in there is about 7 tables and the sushi bar, that's it. If you are going in a large group I would make a reservation. I will be back again and again after trying Hiro. Much better than the fancier and expensive sushi places in the valley.

Could have been 5 stars but the wait was SO long for a Sunday night. Party of 2 that arrived at 6:15 and they said it was a 45 minute wait. We ended up getting seated at 7:20pm. There is a Yelp waitlist but you can't get on it till you're a mile within distance to the restaurant.Once we were seated service was prompt and kind! Felt a lot of hospitality from the staff and sushi chef. I ordered the sushi combo dinner and my friend got the chirashi bowl. My sushi was fresh and delicious! Rice was cooked perfectly too and not too much rice stuffed under the nigiris. I was quite full after my meal and the salad and miso soup in the beginning helped. I thought I'd order some nigiri a la carte after but was too full to.Overall great casual sushi spot, price was fair for what you get. Just be careful on what time/day you go! It's a popular neighborhood spot.

Haven't been here in a while but after living in the area for more years, this is still my favorite Japanese restaurant. There are options for non sushi eaters so don't be scared to come in. Takeout is always an option too. The sushi chefs here are mostly Japanese which makes me feel that the sushi is authentic. My favorite is the toro roll, melts in your mouth. Gyoza tastes homemade, so delicious! Also the best tonkatsu and nabeyaki udon, tempura. What can I say. This place is so worth it! No reservation accepted so come in when they open. They're also closed on Mondays!

I almost dont want to review this neighborhood gem and keep it to myself :)Some of the best sushi in the PHX/Scottsdale area. Excellent service and have never been disappointed. Tastes better than more expensive sushi I have had. Cozy ambience and my favorite is the sushi bar!

Came here tonight for dinner and it did not disappoint! It's a small mom n pop shop type sushi joint with authentic sushi and Asian food.Tried the crazy roll, the diamondback roll, the hiro roll, the Las Vegas roll, spider roll, and the volcano appetizer! Everything was delicious!! The hiro roll was one I would not try again, the crazy and vegas roll were definitely repeat! The best thing we ate was the volcano appetizer! It was really scrumptious! This place has the authentic sushi and special items like salmon carpaccio and hamachi Kama! Very small restaurant vice and atmosphere! Delicious food!!

So delicious!!!! High quality service and high quality sushi!!!! It's very traditional and the staff are very friendly. I've been coming back here for a couple of years and it's one of the best sushi places I've been to.
