Great value, good quality, good quantity. This is my second time at this restaurant and both times i've been very pleased with what we ordered. The restaurant is clean with good seating but doesn't have an overly fancy appearance which is perfect for a quick casual dining experience. The servers were quick to greet us and help us to our table but throughout our dining experience we had to flag them down a couple times to get things. The different rolls were all extremely affordable ranging between $7 for the simple rolls to $15 for the specialty and baked rolls. We did not get to try any of the nigiri. All of the rolls we ordered were very tasty and there weren't any rolls that we thought were particularly bad by any means. One thing we really enjoyed in particular was the Spicy Tofu appetizer. It was so delicious and flavorful and the leftover sauce makes for a great dip to use on other rolls. I personally really like ginger and eel sauce so I asked for those on the side and I thought they really elevated my experience with the sushi. The value at Hinata is unparalleled for the quantity of food you get also. I find myself spending less here to feel the same level of satisfaction than if I were at an AYCE sushi spot.I'd definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a casual sushi dining experience without breaking the bank.

My husband has been to Hinata sushi before with a friend, so he suggested going there for dinner. My husband and I arrive around 7:00 pm. There is a roomy parking lot with plenty of parking. We went through the doors of the restaurant and immediately noticed how crowded and stuffy it was. We saw a list to add our name to a waitlist, so I added my name, and immediately, a lady noticed us and sat us at a table in the back. This restaurant was so packed with people that you could barely walk around the tables. We immediately noticed that their thermostat on the wall said it was 84 degrees inside, and the AC was set to 69 degrees. Sounds like they need their AC looked at because that is simply not acceptable. The waitress took our drink order. I ordered a raspberry iced tea, and my husband ordered a coke. Luckily, we had straws because my husband noticed that there was lipstick on the rim of his glass. He didn't want to complain about it, that's his choice. The restaurant was so loud that we could barely hear each other. The music was a horrible tiktok Playlist too.The menu is very large with a huge variety of food. The waitress came over maybe 1 minute later and asked what we wanted to order. We barely had time to look at the menu, so she said she would come back. I ordered fried gyoza as an appetizer for the table. I ordered an avocado and salmon roll and seared avocado nigiri. My husband ordered a Yamato roll and a Philly roll. We waited about 10 minutes or so before they brought over 2 rolls to our table. My husband and I were confused because my roll didn't look like the avocado salmon roll. My husband ate one of the pieces of his roll, but I hadn't touched mine yet. The waitress came back over and said they made a mistake and brought the wrong rolls over, and she took the two rolls away. A minute later, she brings over the fried gyoza. We both tried the gyoza, and it was pretty good, but the sauce they have is extremely salty. Before we are done with the gyoza, the waitress comes back and brings back the roll my husband ate a piece from and said that it was actually the correct roll. My husband went ahead and ate it. He was not impressed with the Yamoto roll at all. The waitress did eventually bring over my avocado salmon roll, and my husband's Philly roll to the table. My husband said the Philly roll was pretty good. My avocado salmon roll was decent, but the avocado was not fully ripe, so the avocado was a little too firm for my taste. The waitress brought out the seared salmon nigiri. The seared salmon nigiri was pretty good. My husband and I were not impressed with this place at all, and we would not come back. Maybe we just went on an off night, I'm not sure. When we were leaving the restaurant, we saw how busy it had gotten in the front with people waiting. I was perplexed as to why all these people who wait in a big line to get a seat here. Maybe they just don't know what good sushi is.

Hidden gem in Lemon Grove. Im so glad I saw it recommended at the Lemon Grove Seed Swap.Happy hour was perfect: $8.50 for a beer and a choice of listed appetizers (for each beer!). I highly recommend the Bazooka roll from the regular menu, then the crispy tuna popper and tempura shrimp roll from the happy hour menu. They were great about making sure my allergy was noted. The service was super nice and personable, Claire was super friendly and helpful. I saw a group get a birthday treat with candle if anyone is ever wanting to celebrate here. The ambiance is a modern sushi restaurant. Its spacious, welcoming, and clean. Definitely one of my new sushi spots!

I have been here a few times and always get the delicious sushi rolls. Today I wanted to try one of the lunch specials. On the menu they have a "Kitchen Lunch Special " options. The prices were very affordable and with your protein option you get rice, salad, miso soup and fried gyoza. It was very good! Great customer, friendly and attentive.2024(14)

3.5 stars if I could. Of the two rolls I tried, I liked the Truck Stop Roll the best. It was fresh and light. A little too much green onion (and I like green onion!) Decent size, not too big or too small. I typically enjoy baked rolls but the baked California roll was wayyyyy too rich for me and I couldn't finish it. I can't comment on service since I got delivery but everything was packaged very well and arrived chilled/hot.

This is a good place to go when you're in the neighborhood. The food is good and you get what you expect. The sushi is fresh and the bento boxes are excellent. The whole gang enjoyed their order.

I believe this establishment used to be called Narumi Sushi as we were told by the map and Yelp. It seems like HINATA has taken over as the outside looked to be remodeled a bit? I would round up my review to a four because the service was friendly and the food came out quick. The prices here are very good for being a sushi restaurant but there are some hits and misses about our meal which I will say is really a 3.5 stars. Yellowtail Crudo (4/5): Really nice thick cuts of yellowtail and the jalapeños were thin and crunchy. A bit too much sriracha and sauce but I liked this fish the most. Salmon Crudo (3/5): I would say the cut is more like a sashimi as the slices were very thick. This had the same sriracha and jalapeño topping so not much else made this appetizer different.Ninja Roll (3/5): Tasted pretty good, but the presentation was pretty lacking and a bit messy at the end of the roll. It had spicy tuna and imitation krab inside and salmon slices on top. It did have a lot of flavor though. I would highly recommend HINATA for a sushi spot that doesn't break the bank. I'd also come back for the convenience.

This is just basically the old Narumi under new management I believe. The only difference is the name change. I love how they kept their menu, kitchen, chefs, and everything the same. They have an extensive menu that can get overwhelming but I do love options! Their rolls are basic but inexpensive and they offer carpaccios and kamas which I love. They do have lunch specials and happy hour pricing. Their rolls are pretty good for inexpensive rolls.
