100% right up my alley...loved the kitschy, dinery, inviting feel of this place. the spot chop salad was pretty perfect - everything i would've thrown in a salad if i had prepared it from scratch myself. i'm very surprised of the mixed reviews of this spot as i honestly could find nothing to criticize :)

Beer: Mother Earth - Cali creamin' Delicious! Went well with my meal.Food: I had the 50/50 so, half a salad and half a sandwich.The sandwich was the bbq pork. It was really really good with pear sliced thinly inside, not overwhelmed by cheese. It didn't get sloppy at all or fall apart as I ate it. My salad was the Brooklyn chop which was full of cucumbers, pistachios, sun dried tomatoes, and more! Full of flavor! I would be happy to eat a full portion of either of these!My boyfriend had the farmers omelette and said it was great, don't forget to get hash browns because the side of fruit is a little small. Service:very nice waiterRestaurant overall: Good amount of seating, nice and cool inside. Great beer selection as you walk in. Wasn't super busy on a Wednesday afternoon. Nice patio to sit on if you'd like to be outside. Has misters to keep you cool. Most of it is shaded.

I was a little surprised there was a place for breakfast food anywhere near Ahwatukee that we had not eaten before. Then my husband pulls up this gem!1. Great waiting area full of amazing beers in the beer fridge, great prices, a decent amount of seating, and some sort of wonderful looking cookies I didn't order or eat... but rest assured I will!2. Audrey served us at the bar. She was awesome in every way. 3. Food was delicious, and fast! Generous portions if you like leftovers. The hash browns are shoe-stringy and crispy but tender and very good.4. Prices were great. I know I already said that. It's worth mentioning twice in this economy!5. Crowd was great. Very friendly. We saw everything from single diners to a large family with children. This place has something to eat for everyone and is very welcoming to all.

Hidden little brunch spot. My food wasn't warm when it came out, but it tasted good. I liked the caramel latte. Waiters checked in on us a lot and were happy to answer any questions. Maybe I would have enjoyed the ambiance more if I was seated somewhere more chill like the patio? We were seated by some large groups of people as well as right next to the kitchen, so there was constant movement around us, i guess i felt a bit claustrophobic.

7 years since the last review. I did not ever live here yet!Hillside Spot has consistently been the best place to eat for us over the last 7 years! We have tried almost everything on the menu and have not found one thing wrong, or lacking in any way with any of the meals we were served. My favorite is the 50/50. I like to get a sandwich or salad with whatever soup they are serving that month. Again have always been impressed with whatever the soup is and adding a salad or sandwich to the makes it just the right amount of food. I am diabetic and my hubby is pre-diabetic, so the most wonderful thing for us is that we can order great-tasting food and not worry about our blood sugars getting out of control. Yes, we try to stay away from fries, chips, etc but Hillside offers fruit or salad as great alternative sides to choose from. Although their fries are delicious, we will share them once in a while. Choices! That is what we love most about Hillside Spot.Service is always good. I like that they hover on the periphery and are not interrupting with questions, but are there when needed. Finally the beer list. The beer selection is very good. Hubby likes to have one once in a while and the selection is great. Even have Wren House!

Everything was amazing. The pancakes were the fluffiest I've had in a while, the portions were filling. I had a crocket madame with hash browns which were done just right. The lavender late was delightful and my son was lucky to enjoy some fresh-squeezed orange juice. We moved to the area not too long ago and have been looking for a reliable brunch spot and we're so happy to have found it! The patio was so cute and cozy, inviting atmosphere overall. The server was friendly and prompt.

The quintessential neighborhood spot! This had a really cute, relaxed atmosphere and service was attentive and friendly. There's a coffee shop up front, along with grab and go beer (well, grab, pay, and go, or drink it there), and then a bar, inside seating, and a nice patio (though screeching birds! No idea what was up with the birds that day). We arrived around 3 on a weekday and it was pretty quiet, but around 6 tables started to fill up. It had a very neighborhood vibe. We just got chips, salsas, and guac. This was good. I wish they had more snacks.
