Hilberto's Mexican Food

Been coming here for years since I was a kid. Came late around 9pm to grab a California burrito and rolled tacos. We went through drive thru. It was easy to take our order. We ordered our California burrito with no pico de gallo & 5 rolled tacos. The California burrito was really good bc the carne asada had a charred flavor. The rolled tacos were good nothing too special, but whenever I order it during lunch time, idk but it's fire. Hella fresh, crispy, and full of meat. It can be a hit or miss here at times but overall I like the food here. It's a small spot near the corner of the street. Next to a pho spot. You can't miss it. It's yellow and red like most taco shops.

If you are hungry and there's nothing else open I would recommend although my friend said they have the best carne asada fries ever.Burrito is okay . I came here to buy a carne asada burrito drive thru is super slow . Service is okay I guess I been waiting for hot minute I think one menu is busted it lights up like a edm concert . Their window menu works don't panic. No interior dinning are just outside seating and it's not very inviting.

I've been going here for about 15-18 years now. Food was always good. Service is good as well. The place is busy most of the time I go, which is a good sign.This year, Hilbertos has changed. A lot of times, when I ordered a plate, I received the small hot sauce. 3 to be exact, and they're not even full. Before, they would provide the large containers of hot sauce, sometimes 2 of those if I order a plate and a burrito. The size of the burrito varies as well. Sometimes, it's way smaller than usual. I guess it all depends on who the cook is. The old lady who takes the orders needs to work on her smile and a welcoming attitude. Everyone else who takes the orders is smiling with a positive attitude.

INCONSISTENTThe mark of a good restaurant is consistency. Unfortunately, Hilberto's doesn't deliver on consistency. Some days the service and food are excellent but other days it's the opposite. I believe it comes down to the staff working on a given day. After experiencing inconsistency from them over the past year, I recently had a streak of good days with them and was on the verge of leaving a positive review. However, today I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and ended up with a potato and cheese burrito instead (no bacon). One can argue that was simply a mistake but I've had a similar experience with them in the past (ordered a bacon breakfast burrito that ended up having only one piece of bacon) This place has to do better than that.

I stopped by here the other day on my way home. It has a drive-thru which was the only reason I stopped.I ordered Adobada Fries, Carne Asada Chips and a Carnitas burrito. The total came out to $38.50, which felt like a deal because the bag of food was heavy.I ate the Adobada fries as soon as I got home and they were delicious! Super filling!I ate the Carne Asada chips the next day for lunch and they heated up in the toaster oven perfectly. I do wish they had some of that old school nacho cheese to go on them.My husband ate the Carnitas burrito and said it was great.The red salsa was so good and I love that they gave me huge containers of it versus 8 little small containers of salsa.I will definitely stop by here again anytime I am in the area. It was so convenient, tasty and I felt like I got a lot for my money.

So far the best carne asada fries. 2nd day in a row. Fresh, reasonable price and friendly staff.

Trash I called them 6 times they answered twice the first time they ended the call and the second time she sounded so rude. horrible costumer service please don't come here unless you want your day ruined.

There was a whole toothpick inside my breakfast burrito. I had family visiting from Arizona and wanted to get some good San Diego Mexican food only to be disgusted by what was in our food. Everyone's appetite was ruined.

I normally don't leave reviews but I had to for this one. I specifically asked for sour cream on the side for just the carne asada fries. The lady who took our order repeated the order and it was correct. When we got home, all of our food was missing sour cream. Now, I understand why their yelp review is only a 3 stars restaurant. Won't be coming back here.
