Holy smokes this place is absolutely amazing! Shoutout to my sushi chef, Louie, for being soo great and kind the entire time. He was efficient and executed each piece of sushi beautifully. I loved the intimate setting this place has with their simple decor. They want you to focus on the food, which I appreciate. My date and I got some sake. Normally I'm not a hot sake person, but the server recommended the Taiheizan and I'm really glad we listened. It was delicious and the service in general exceeded expectations. They would refill your cups immediately when they were running low and were always right there available for questions or assistance. Now for the menu itself: it honestly just kept getting better and better with each new piece I tried. Everything was extremely fresh and well balanced with its other ingredients. The only ones I didn't love were the Fluke Fin Muscle (just didn't live up to the others) and the Uni + Ikura (not surprising as I don't like uni). I had soo many favorites, it is honestly so very hard to name some: Barracuda, Striped Bonito, Yellowtail, Black Cod and Albacore. 1000% would want to come back here. Honestly, I wish Louie came home with me so I could have him make more for me or teach me. If I could afford to come here every day, I honestly would.

Took my cousin out for a belated birthday celebration. Heard so many good things about this place and the hype was more than real -- it was HEAVENLY. Everything just melted in our mouths. From the 18 course omakase experience and their signature nigiris, everything was chef's kiss. If I had to choose what my favorite thing was, it was definitely the toro + uni + black truffle + sturgeon caviar. The staff was super attentive and the ambiance was very intimate, which was nice. I definitely recommend booking in advance and trying this place out. - 18 C O U R S E O M A K A S E - *fluke*sea bream*barracuda *striped Jack*striped bass*Jack mackerel *goldeneye snapper*striped bonito*yellowtail*salmon*albacore*amberjack*black cod*bluefin tuna*uni + ikura*o toro*toro tartare*yellowtail hand roll - S I G N A T U R E N I G I R I - *toro tartare + uni + black truffle + sturgeon caviar *toro + uni + black truffle + sturgeon caviar

Holy Fresh Fish Batman!!!This was one of the best sushi experiences I've ever had! Every piece was fine-tuned and placed in order to tickle and entice the taste buds! The fish quality was top tier, the presentation was beautiful, and the chef's (Isaac) attention to detail, and our party was incredible. He kept checking in to ensure we were all satisfied and envying our meal. Honestly, I will be thinking about this experience until I go back. It's a little on the expensive side, but it is definitely worth the experience.I was a little hesitant with the uni because I've typically not enjoyed it in the past, but it turns out I just like a better quality than I've been presented before. It paired so well with the ikura!

Best service EVER! Hubby took me here for my bday recently. Our chef was Chef Peter and he was the best. We got to know each other first as an ice breaker. He keeps engaged with us and another couple who was also dining the 90 min omakase. I didn't take pics of all 18 pieces but I did take pics of my favorite, and also the extra that we ordered. Our waiters were super sweet and very funny. Very engaged as well. Nice conversations were had all around. Our dining neighbor actually reminded me of Shaggy from Scooby doo and we all had a good laugh about it. First we started with a scallop. FRESH!! So good. Great start. We then had the fishes that were seasonal from Japan. When I tell you, there was no fishiness at all, believe me. Raw mackerel is usually not my favorite because it is usually fishy, but when we were served mackerel, it was not fishy at all. Very flavorful in whatever they did to it. I enjoyed all the seasonal fish except for the Bonito. That wasn't my fave out of all. Then we were served the usual that we see most in other sushi restaurants but they were all melt in your mouth. So tender and sweet. Of course my faves were the toro and uni. One thing I will say is, the alcohol was so expensive. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered that glass of sau Blanc, I don't even like wine like that lol Also wish they had celebratory desserts, since some of us do save for special occasion to spend a lot of $ on dinner. Other than that, had a great dinner.

I came here yesterday, and the omakase was fantastic!Hidden Fish is next to Pacific Honda. Street parking is probably your best bet for parking. Reservations are made in advanced online.Upon arrival, we were greeted by the waiters and sat down as we waited for the tables and chefs to be ready. It is a smaller location and few guests. The food is great and fresh! It was $135 for omakase for a person, and there is a great variety of fish for the nigiris. It was a 18-course menu. My favorites were the O Toro and Jack Mackeral, which was very fresh and flavorful. The chef is also very nice and friendly and makes conversation with you. There are a few chefs, and wait staff are very attentive and will fill up your water for you. You can order more at the end if you want! Definitely a great experience to try at least once!

This place is amazing. Went here for me and my partner's anniversary and had a great time. When we drove to the place we found parking quite easily. I don't believe there's a specific parking area, but there's plenty of street parking available! Chef Peter made our sushi and each piece was met with great technique and care. The inside of the restaurant is quite intimate and only holds a handful amount of people so we were able to have conversations with each other and the chef. The entire course was so good that we also wanted to try their fish of the day (jumbo scallop and fluke fin muscle)! Highly recommend this spot !

Reservation only - requires a $270 deposit for the 18-course omakase for two people. I booked the 7PM slot. You can arrive a little earlier and order some drinks in the small waiting area. Very intimate space, meant for 12-13 customers to enjoy their meals in peace. Brought my husband here for his birthday dinner last week. Excellent quality of fish and everything was carefully prepared / seasoned nicely. Attentive and friendly staff, always ready to replenish your drinks. Chefs explained what each nigiri was / where the fish was sourced as they presented it, but you also have a copy of the omakase menu & a pencil in front of you to mark your favorites. I was still hungry after the 18 courses, so we did order several items from their a la carte menu after, including some of our fave nigiris we tried from the omakase (sea bream, barracuda), and I also got a salmon hand roll to make sure I'd be full :) Came out to $400+ ($200+ pp) with drinks and after 22% tip (the service deserved it). Worth the price for a high quality meal! PS: we were told they only order enough fish to serve for that night, so everything is fresh! Other thing to note: depending on which chef you get, the sizes of your nigiris will vary and may be prepared differently compared to others (as in the other group with the other chef) simply due to differences in their preparation styles. I did notice our group's nigiris were smaller, but we didn't mind that particularly because we like less rice.

I feel like omasake is one of those activities that you have to try at least once! I came here with my bestie and we were both very impressed. Everything was really fresh & it was a nice and relaxing experience. We were afraid that it would be a little too shamcy & they would talk to us too much when we wanted to just enjoy the good food & chill LOL. It wasn't that case though, there was a good balance of interaction while also being informative about each piece. Hidden Fish was on the more affordable side compared to other omasake locations. I definitely would recommend!

Service here is astonishingly amazing. There are only.. 8-10 seats? But 4-5 servers. They clear your plates, they keep your drinks poured full, they are extremely friendly. The folks prepping the sushi here are excellent as well. Friendly, precise cutting, washing their hands often, wonderful. While it was pretty good the biggest let downs are the taste and the price. Himitsu is worlds better. Galaxies better. Even our local shop, Bamboo Sushi in La Mesa is better. You get 9 pieces (not 9 pairs) of nigiri and a bottle of saki for guess how much. $150? Nope. $200? Nope. $383 EXCLUDING tip. And this was for two people!!!The restaurant is of course beautiful, well decorated, hyper clean, but I cannot recommend this restaurant at these prices.
