HG Bistro

Was here a few weeks ago, left a detailed review, however, I'll assume ownership flagged it because it wasn't positive. That said it was both honest and fair and I assume they are well aware of the person referenced in the review, so at the end of the day, the message was received. The food was not flavorful, tasty or satisfying and service wasn't what I would call fast. The couple at the table next to us had multiple issues with their meal and were vocal about it. I can see what this place is trying to do and be, but this area is far from upscale. In many ways it reminded me of the Keg, but not as flavorful and if in the area again, I'd elect to go to Black Angus instead. When the consumer experience is this bad, the focus should be on correcting it, not removing reviews. Only one method fixes your problem!***Please Note***The operator owner in his reply didn't deny my experience or allegation which I won't repeat. Any business can have an off night, but nothing went smooth on our visit and again, the food and experience were regrettable. We felt unsafe and it's unfortunate Yelp didn't allow the entire experience to be shared.I also don't need tips on how to review. Per Yelp, 1 Star= Not Good. Need I say more? I'll also add for anyone that cares to read any of my 1 star reviews. Please note, about 1/3 of those businesses are closed permanently. Clearly, I have not been alone in my assessment of bad business. In regard to HG Bistro, 44 other people (nearly 10%) appear to agree it's "Not Good".

I have been wanting to try out this place as my boyfriend's aunt is an amazing foodie with fantastic taste and she raved about this place. I had this place bookmarked for a long time and was so happy to finally have taken it off the check list. We came in during their lunch and happy hour on a weekend. As we arrived, we were greeted warmly by our hostess and server. Once we were seated and presented the menus, we definitely took a bit of time to look over our options. My boyfriend got their French Dip and I got the Cuban, and in addition, we also ordered the coconut prawns and crab rolls from their happy hour menu. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous with thoughtful and elegant décor, furnishing and lighting. I can definitely agree that this a great place for a date night or even a professional meet up. It took some time to receive our food but it all arrived hot and delicious. The coconut prawns and crab rolls shared the same sauce but it complimented both appetizers perfectly. The Cuban was very tasty as well as the crispy fries and my boyfriend was very pleased with his French dip. We decided to close the experience with the signature dessert, the s'mores and it was honestly probably my favorite ways of enjoying any s'mores. As our waitress explains how the dessert process works while showing off the amazing presentation that gives the s'mores an extra level up from your usual s'mores, I almost ordered another one because that was just how divine and heavenly each bite was! Definitely looking forward to coming back to try out their dinner menu and get more of that s'mores.

It's been several years since my last visit to HG Bistro. Overall this visit was a good one. Food was good, but keep in mind I only ordered appetizers, and the drinks were great. Service was polite, friendly, and informative, but it took an extended period of time for just about everything. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive after we ordered, drinks took awhile, . The restaurant itself was fantastically clean, with a very laid back classy vibe.

I took my stepmom out for a late Mother's Day dinner. We happened to get here around 4pm on a Tuesday, they weren't busy and we got seated rather quickly near the bar. The music was nice and not too loud so we were able to have a conversation and hear each other. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. We happen to be there during happy hour and ordered two of the drinks from their specials. They were SO good and they looked pretty. We decided to get a few appetizers and salads for dinner. The calamari frites were super tender and flavorful and the crab rolls were like an even more flavorful crab Rangoon. But the dessert, this thing was delicious and the presentation was so cute to make it look like you had a campfire. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area or wanted to meet up with some of the girls.

This place has never let us down. We haven't been recently and wow the remodel and updates are beautiful. Food is great drinks are great service is always consistent and attentive and it doesn't absolutely break the bank. Best date spot!

Worth every star and more! We ate here the first time the other day and I already can't wait to go back! It's so classy inside, which is hard to tell from the look of the front. I ordered the chicken salad and tomato soup. It was so delicious! The bread was fresh and lightly toasted to perfection. Hubs got the Cuban (which I'll be getting next time) and French fries. The fries were hot and salty - in the best way! The only critiques I have are minor: 1) They don't have a kids menu, but they do kid portions of meals. This isn't really something that's advertised (maybe for good reason), but they will do simple kid dishes (chicken, noodles with butter, etc). 2) It's unclear on the menu that the meals come with a side and there's no list of the side (they offer a lot of variety on French fries- can't wait to try others!). The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Prices are on par with the are and definitely for the quality. Portion sizes are decent, but not overly large. Left full, but finished everything. I'm so excited to go back for dinner!

I don't live in Puyallup but whenever I'm out that way, I try to to stop at HG bistro. It's a great place to meet for happy hour, lunch, or dinner. Their service is impeccable and the food is amazing. It's unique it's fresh. It's delicious. Even the coffee is great. I wish I lived closer!

This WAS one our favorite places to go. Ordered two tacos, a mahi mahi and a prawn taco. Also ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer. The coconut shrimp was the standard pre-made frozen variety, pretty disappointing. The mahi taco was okay and the prawn taco contained the same frozen deep fried shrimp as the coconut prawn. Too many corners cut. This place is off my list.

HG Bistro never lets me down. The service was top-notch, efficient, and genuinely friendly - they really know how to take care of their customers.I went for the smoked brisket sandwich, and it was a game-changer. The brisket was perfectly smoked and tender, packed with that deep, rich flavor that only comes from real skill. The coleslaw added a nice crunch and tang, balancing the smokiness of the meat. The grilled pineapple brought a surprising and welcome sweetness that worked incredibly well with the Japanese BBQ sauce - a bold, savory hit that tied the whole thing together. And all this goodness was held together by a Hawaiian sweet bun, soft and slightly sweet, making each bite better than the last.HG Bistro's smoked brisket sandwich is a must-try. It's a powerhouse of flavors that just works, backed by a team that knows how to deliver a great dining experience every single time.Until next time!

Such a good date night spot!! Food was amazing! Steak and halibut cooked to perfection! Service was ON POINT. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend both the steak and the halibut (sorry we started eating before i got a photo) prices are very reasonable for quality of food. Can't wait to go back and try the happy hour. The steak was sooo good. Cooked exactly how we requested. Loved the ambience. Looks like they did a bit of remodeling and really enjoyed the updated vibe.
