I finally went here when they weren't so busy. And was able to get my order vetting quickly. You do have to wait outside for your order since. Latte was pretty good. Nice place to go when they aren't super busy.

This is a small independent coffee shop in the loop that makes good coffee and the service is fast and friendly. But this place is best only if you're on the go. There's only a handful of tables outside and none inside. In fact, only a few people at a time can even fit inside. You just order and then exit. Your order will be called from the window promptly. The alley with the tables is really cute. A little hideaway. But on nice days, those tables are always full. I did finally get a table today, but only because it was cool and raining.

Another local chain in our parade of Milwaukee coffee shops. We happened by while walking to the lake from our hotel and we're drawn in by how cute the location is. Tucked in the end of an alley between two office buildings it's pretty clear this is mainly a "to-go" sort of place. There are a couple tables set up form the alley but none inside. When it gets busy, which seems like it's pretty often, you're sitting with someone waiting in line right up on you. Staff was quick and efficient but I wouldn't describe it as "friendly". Very trendy in that there's an air of pretention but nothing outputting. We just got some decent cold brew and an espresso but the food looked pretty good as well. If you're in the market for a coffee and meal on-the-go it seems like a decent choice. If I worked in the area is probably grab lunch from here often.

Hero is truly a hidden gem in the Loop. I stopped in today with a coworker to grab a coffee and a bite, and I'm so glad we stumbled across it. I had the pride latte (lavender syrup and oat milk) and the "Usual Suspect" (bacon, egg, cheese, and cream cheese) on a cheddar jalapeno bagel. I've never had cream cheese on a breakfast sandwich before, but clearly, I've been missing out because it was delicious! One thing to note is that their eggs are runny, so ask for it well done if you're not into that. Overall, a 4.9/5 and a new spot I will happily be adding to my breakfast/coffee rotation.

Great coffee, cool location! Love the little alley...excellent service, good begals ... the only thing is the schemer. Most of the time places give you too much, but this barely covered my Begal. I'd go back for the coffee, blue berry latte was so good! The gluten free pineapple coconut donut was incredible too!

I do NOT understand how this place stays in business. They are one of the most inconsistent places I have ever seen. It's almost 9 am on Wednesday, January 3. A coworker and I were going to go grab a drink and sandwich. Their hours--per their website, Google, etc.--are 8 am-2 or 3 pm today, so we're in that open window. Yet they are closed, with no notice. They have an Instagram page that has a post yesterday but they don't put anything on it about their location(s) being closed unexpectedly? I looked to see if I'd missed something but their post about holiday closures says that the downtown locations were closed between Christmas and New Year's, so based upon their own info they should be open.I know stuff happens, and I don't care if a business needs to change their hours. But this is not the first time in the last month or so that they haven't been open in the middle of the week when their own website says they should be open (that is to say, they haven't changed their hours). Y'all, there is a Dunkin', Starbucks, Intelligentsia, Dollop, and probably a few other coffee places within a two or three blocks. How do they have so little respect for customers when their competition--be they huge corporations or other local small businesses--is may be literally right across the street?I wish my coworker didn't feel the need to go here.

Good small independent and locally owned coffee place on Jackson in the Loop. Hero Coffee Bar is a locally owned shop in an alley that has variety on the menu. It's not a big menu, but there's still quite a big though. Classic coffees such as cappuccinos and lattes to choose from. There's also doughnuts, pastries, and sandwiches. Came in the morning and it had a pretty good crowd, but it wasn't like it was that busy. It's a small place so it just looks busy if there's a few people in here. There's no room for indoor seating, and the alley has only a few tables. Get some of the common coffee types here. Prices aren't that bad for a place like this. It's about $4 for a Latte. Several non dairy milks are available including almond and oat. Also there's food. It's $3 for doughnuts, and all these are vegan. Eating this way isn't always healthy. It's about $8 for a bagel sandwich. Good and healthy. It has the Hippie, and this is a vegan one. This has avocado spread, organic olive oil, red pepper flakes, and tomatoes. Even though it's a small place, it has plenty to get to drink and eat. It has many coffees to choose from. There's also the bagel sandwiches that have many choices for vegans and vegetarians.

$6.12 for a medium latte? I guess California doesn't have a monopoly on high prices. They of course get you with that V-tax for choosing any milk that isn't dairy so that doesn't help. The latte was pretty good but I expect perfection at this price point. It's a small space with outdoor seating in the alley. They don't allow you to wait inside for your drink to be ready, even if there's nobody behind you. Not ideal in cold weather months. I guess, how often does it ever get cold here in Chicago? I'm not sure if there are many alternatives around here, so perhaps they've found their niche and stayed in it. If customer service were better, this could be a decent, if pricey cup.
