The Junior League sign at the corner of the house at 9th and Bridger.
That fireplace!
Not orignal blocks but close to the original.
Plaque at the entrance.
So retro!
A photo of the Morelli's dog Mozart.
The stained glass was designed and a gift from the woman who did the glasswork at the Guardian Angel Cathedral.
The living room. Original fireplace and hood.
A bun warmer. Pull out the drawer and put in the buns.
What's on the Telly?
Since Morelli was over 6 foot, he wanted a sink he could shave in and brush his teeth without bending over.
Entrance
Midcentury modern at its finest!
Raindrop windows at the entrance.
Dinner time!
The bathroom faucet handles have the AM for Antonio Morelli.

I searched for historical stuff and this showed up. I didn't know anything about it but was intrigued. One day I went by it. It's a house but there's a lot of history. The Junior League of Las Vegas maintains it and has tours. I had no idea who Antonio Morelli was. He was the music director at the Sands. This house is maintained to look like it was during the 1960s. He lived in this house. The house actually was moved here and has an interesting story about that. Go to the League website. If you're interesting in a tour you have to sign up for it. It's only during certain times.

For a long time, I have wanted to tour the Morelli house in DTLV. Last Saturday, I took the opportunity and went for the 11:30 AM tour. The Junior League of Las Vegas uses this house as its headquarters but it was also their mission to preserve the house as one of their projects. The house is a great example of mid-century modern architecture. Originally, it was located on the golf course of the Desert Inn Country Club Estates on the Sands/Twain side. When Steve Wynn bought the Desert Inn, the houses from the Estates were leveled except for the Morelli house which was able to be moved. It was the only home with a crawl space and thus could be lifted up to be moved. The house was donated to the Junior League. Part of the tour is a video of moving the house on September 30, 2001, and it's quite interesting to see its move to Eastern, down to Fremont, and up 9th to Bridger. The interior contains many things we don't see in houses today. The tile work of the sinks in the bathroom are amazing, and the step down shower in the master bath is amazing. The Junior League women do the tour and it's quite interesting. Thanks to them, this house has survived and with it part of Las Vegas history. For those who don't know, Antonio Morelli was the musical director for the Sands Hotel.

This house gives you an amazing opportunity to step in a time machine and go back to a more simpler, elegant period of living. You can experience the 50's and 60's in 3D, as opposed to just watching it on TV or in photos. The integrity of the home and its attention to detail is much appreciated when admiring the architecture, interior design, layout and original aesthetic. I would recommend booking a tour!

We wanted to visit the historic Morelli House for quite some time and we're glad we were finally able to do so today! The guided tour was fun and informative and well worth our five dollar donation. Special thanks to our friendly and knowledgeable docents, Kristina and LouAnne for their hospitality today!

If you like mid-century modern architecture or old school Vegas history this is an amazing tour. The house was the home of the orchestra leader at the Sands back in the day. It was on the DI golf course and was moved downtown (they have a video of the move, which is interesting to see). The house is classic mid-century modern, but with some Vegas twists, especially since Antonio Morelli entertained at the house. The furniture and furnishings are all true to the period. And they also have clothes from that time. It is like stepping back into the 50s/60s. They have done an outstanding job of restoring the house. On our tour we had someone that worked with Antonio Morelli and a Copa Girl. It was great to have two people that worked at the Sands back then on the tour with us. The Junior League does an awesome job with the tour and explaining the the history and architecture. And the downtown location is walking distance to Container Park and some great restaurants. Check the website for the tour dates as they are one Saturday a month and i think they take the summer off.

This place is as classic as Las Vegas gets. So much lovely and amazing architecture to see when you tour this home. If you love history, more importantly, Las Vegas history, then you'll love taking a tour of Morelli House. I always recommend it to my family and friends when they come to town.

Fantastic tour of a classic and historic Las Vegas mid century modern home. I have taken the tour myself as a Las Vegas local, and just took my mother when she was visiting Las Vegas - she loved it! They offer guided tours on specified Saturdays and times (see their website www.MorelliHouse.org for dates/times). The house is on the National, State, and City historic registries. It is fascinating to learn about the various historical aspects of this property - the history of a famous pioneering Las Vegas orchestra leader, the mid century modern architecture, and the history of how the Junior League of Las Vegas saved and shares this window to our Las Vegas past. AND it is within walking distance of some fabulous restaurants in the Container Park area, which makes for a lovely Saturday morning/afternoon adventure.

The Morelli House is a cool place to go for a free blast from the past mid-century tour and then head on downtown for lunch. So much is absolutely original to the when it was built and the docents tell great stories about Antonio Morelli and his days as the orchestra leader at the old Sands. You have to know that tours are usually only once a month on the second Saturday. Check out their web site....morellihouse.org
