Scales 'N Tails - Las Vegas

Our visit to this shop far exceeded expectations!We went in to purchase a small frog for an amphibian obsessed 5 year old. The owner was above an beyond with educating us on proper caretaking of the new Pac-Man and offering his service of a custom habitat set-up! He is a wealth of knowledge for both parents and inspiring the kids to provide the best care possible for a new pet! As an unexpected surprise, my daughter expressed interest in isopods. Which she has been researching, capturing and keeping in a container for months. Yet again, the owner didn't hesitate to share his expertise and assist her in creating an ideal ecosystem complete with species of isopods we had no idea were even in existence! Today's visit has made us capable frog and isopod caretakers! I cannot express my gratitude strongly enough for the enthusiasm and information we were provided with!

I'd like to start my review by saying I have been a very long time customer here. And they just recently switched owners. I loved the vibe of it before, it was nothing fancy, which made it special. Now with the new owners it feels more and more like every other store I've ever been to, and the pricing is more expensive 3 weeks ago I purchased a female jumping spider for 50.00. Everything was great, she was eating, drinking, and moving around. I did notice some things from the get-go, like she never made a larger webb. This is typically a sign of old age Last night I found her deceased curled up at the bottom of the enclosure. Those of you who have had this type of spider, know they have huge personalities. So I have been devastated by this sudden loss. Now $50 dollars for a spider her size was already way more than I purchased my former jumping spider (featured in my old reviews). But that much more just for her to DIE in THREE WEEKS. Had I known I was purchasing a senior jumping spider I would have never purchased her. I called today, to ask about this entire thing. The lady on by phone said that due to it being past 72 hours, she can't do anything. I understand a policy, but NOTHING when I had an animal with a lifespan of 1-2 years for 3 mere weeks.Disappointing that I have now lost the trust of a store I once went to nearly every sing

We go to Scales n Tails to by Dubia roaches for our leopard gecko. They have a great selection of sizes of both the roaches and the amounts they sell. Some of the sales they have are crazy, making in less expensive to get the food.The employees are knowledgeable about all the animals in the store and are very helpful without trying to upsell everything. Which is very appreciated

Sabrina & Sabrina are absolute angels and I am so happy to make this a regular spot in my weekly rotation. I found and later released a jumping spider but really wanted one as a pet. They helped me pick out the worlds cutest spider, got her new house all set up and gave me a ton of info on how to take good care of her. I'm a small business owner and work really hard to foster an environment that my team members genuinely love to be in, and you can tell these two just love absolutely what they do. Thank you for making this really easy for me!

Prices don't make sense. Some items are worth it other than that prices just seem to high when you can find the same thing half cost elsewhere. And I'm not talking about the animals

I would give this place more stars if I could! The man working at the time was so pleasant and kind. He let me wander around looking at all the creatures, answered all of my questions, and was so knowledgeable. It was also clear he cares about the reptiles and animals there. He even asked about my own pets. I was looking for hornworms, and this place has them for a great price!! I will be coming back.

Great place to shop for reptiles. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Have a tarantula from them and just got talked into purchasing an African bullfrog by them. They explained the care, lifespan, and diet to me thoroughly. A must patronize for those who like unusual pets

Phenomenal customer service. We dealt first with Shelly and she was the kindest soul in Vegas. She didn't try to rush us out even though we kept her after. Her and the panther chameleon they had were the reason we came back a couple days later. We then dealt with Thomas who had superb customer service. You could tell he genuinely cared about the animals in the shop. He made it impossible for us to not buy their only panther chameleon so we came back later in the week to take our baby home. The staff and shop itself were:KnowledgeableCaringPatientAffordableCLEAN!

We love the variety of critters in the store. Ant was extremely friendly and helpful, his knowledge was much appreciated!!!

Visited all 3 reptile locations in the Vegas area (that I could find). I asked lots of questions at each location and very much noticed the cleanliness and health of the reptiles I saw. This place was very clean, the snakes looked healthy, well fed. The lady working was very knowledgeable, happy to provide the info and patient. We may be going back soon to get a sweet boy, ball python. Worth the visit!
