Milpa

My husband loves Milpa so we stopped in for breakfast one morning. All the food here is super fresh, the restaurant is clean and the staff is nice and attentive. We enjoyed huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, some tacos, potatoes and birria. We also got a Dulce de Leche latte which was sweet but you could tell the coffee quality was A1. The sauce on the huevos rancheros was so good. I was dipping my potatoes in it the whole time. I recommend doing 1/2 red and 1/2 green salsa for the chilaquiles. I recommend getting a side of birria for some protein - it really pulled breakfast together. Everything tasted great and we throughly enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back for more.

The taco force is strong with Milpa! Rolled in on a Friday afternoon with my big booty Valentines date looking for some tasty treats. Learned they do breakfast all day long. Will have to come back for that! Ordered up 3 Birria Tacos, 2 ribeye tacos, and 2 barbacoa tacos! It was a taco orgy!!!Milpa is a legit contender for Best Tacos in Las Vegas! Came here on a visit to LV after reading a host of reviews. Expectations were obv quite high, accordingly.Let me first say the staff are friendly and accommodating. Guy who took orders, when there was a lull at the register, would walk the small rstrnt (seats about 40 ppl) and check how everyone was doing. The food runner was hustling and efficient.I wanted to try a variety of the menu. Got one birria taco, one mushroom carnitas taco, and one fish taco for the food, and a horchata to drink.After placing the order, was given a glass of tap water to hold over til meal arrived. Beware, the tap water is strikingly gross.The birria taco arrived first. It was alright. The dipping sauce was strongly spicy on the heat. Taco itself was understandably somewhat greasy - not too much, but rather on the just-enough side, akin to the expectation of a street-taco.A little later, the fish taco and mushroom carnitas taco came out together. The mushroom taco was not too salty to eat, however it had a rather strong undercurrent and tone of over salting. This taco was disappointing. The fish taco was simply okay. The breading and frying of the taco was on point. The other items (slaw, veg, sauce) under delivered - they didn't mesh as well as would be expected.The horchata drink was delicious! Two thumbs up.Overall the meal was clearly less than what was hoped based on other reviews. It may be the case of young locals who haven't traveled to other regions of the country writing most of the recent reviews. For anyone who has eaten Mexican food all over the Southwest and South, be tempered in your expectations.I wish Milpa the best. Hope they have good success going forward. As per the rating,, this meal was just alright/okay. Won't be making a beeline here on subsequent visits to LV.

Where to begin? Let's start with some of the most scrumptious Mexican food I have ever had the pleasure of eating.Walking in to Milpa, we were greeted by friendly staff and asked if we needed any help deciding on what to order. The restaurant itself is not big at all but there seems to be enough tables to accommodate. The decor is bright and happy. Menu features both brunch and lunch items and the food selections are so creative. I had a hard time making a decision so I went with my gut.Since it was lunch time, I ordered the Beer Battered Fish Taco and the Shrimp Taco. WOW! Talk about flavorful! The tortillas were so fresh and I really enjoyed these tacos. Perusing the menu again, I plan to try the Blue Corn Pinole Pancakes next time I come in. I also saw after the fact that they sell both yellow and blue corn tortillas. YUM!Definitely a five star experience! Thank you Milpa!"Tacos are the love language of food"

Super juicy and well seasoned chicken with some fresh vegetables and tortillas. It was really like a chicken salad with green sauce and tortillas on the side. Clean decor in a strip mall. Was a great meal before hiking and service was fast, but a little pricy for what it is.

Absolutely amazing! Highly recommend. We ordered the red and green chilaquiles, potatoes, esquite, birria tacos, and guava lime agua fresca. Everything was delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Can't wait to return and try more items from the menu!

Hear me out: When they first opened I loved them, no complaints! Then out of the blue there was about 8 months where things continually went downhill and the quality didn't seem to match what I had grown used to. I voiced this to the owner because I genuinely was sad to see things change when the standard was always the utmost at my visits prior. I have a gluten allergy so there aren't too many places that I really look forward to patronizing because it can be difficult to get something that is both safe to eat and also delicious. Milpa offers both and takes great care of each customer as if you were a VIP no matter who you deal with they are a phenomenal staff that gives you the feeling of a small town neighborhood. It doesn't matter your request they will do their best and never with a bad attitude. When I shared my frustrations in the past they not only took my advice into consideration but also asked me to give them another chance, comped. I never expected that but I was so glad to be able to love it and give them another opportunity to earn my business. They delivered extremely impressively so much so that I now go there almost weekly. I've lived in Texas and by far the only tacos that compare to Austin is Milpa! Thank you, Milpa for valuing me, even as a sometimes difficult customer! I always feel appreciated. This is the epitome of customer service, a field I've personally experienced working in for 20 years. I've worked at world class resorts for celebrities and billionaires and been through extensive high end hospitality training in my past. Milpa has mastered hospitality. They truly take care in your experience.Go try their delicious and fresh birria tacos! The menu includes breakfast as well, which I haven't tried yet (but can assume is equally as thoughtfully made). You won't regret grabbing a Mexican vanilla latte while you're at it! They offer oat milk as an alternative to regular milk if you so choose. They even make their own vanilla bean syrup and use high quality coffee and consistently make it perfectly, never burnt, unlike MOST run of the mill coffee shops! Give Milpa a try and you will quickly become a regular!

Really special place. They grind their blue corn themselves. They have dishes that I don't see anywhere else in town.

Milpa was feature on Yelp's top 100 restaurants in the US at #17. They are off the Vegas strip and are a healthy Mexican restaurant, a James Beard Semi Finalist. This small but attention to detail establishment brings great flavor and outstanding customer service to its clientele. The limited staff is customer focused and very attentive to you needs. They specialize in breakfast and lunch service.We went around 9 on a Saturday morning and were warmly greeted by the staff. We ordered the breakfast tacos (2) with heirloom hand made tortillas, scrambled egg, Mexican bacon and cheese. The eggs were a la Mexicano style a the star. There were hints of cheese and bacon. A very nice balance and not heavy. We also ordered the mushroom carnitas and cilantro line shrimp tacos. The mushroom tacos had an amazing flavor and different from anything I had ever tried. The shrimp were nicely cooked and had nice flavor with the lime / cilantro mixture. This place is a rising star with over-the-top service. The hand made heirloom tortillas were flavor packed. Other diners were trying the blue corn pancakes and Mexican bowls.We were glad to be able to try this hard working restaurant and staff. When we return, we will try some of the blue corn dishes. Our selections were good but I feel the real gems are in other dishes. We played it safe and were happy but felt we need to give them a second chance at a five star review.Great job Milpa and we look forward to visiting you again.
