On a lovely Monday, a holiday with no school, my daughter and her friends wanted to go and explore the beauty of Mount Charleston. We knew there was still snow at Mount Charleston! We got our snow gear, packed up some snacks, and decided to go to Mount Charleston! This was my 3rd time visiting with my daughter, but our first time at Kyle Canyon Picnic Area Day Use! Uncertain about the destination, all I could hear inside the van was my daughter and her friends expressing how much they wanted to make a stop in this particular area! There were sites all across the picnic area, where you can park your vehicle, grill, and set up tents! I was amazed that I got a signal this far up the mountain! My daughter and her friends had a blast making snowballs, snow angels, and just exploring the Kyle Canyon Picnic Area Day Use.Since it was a holiday, it was free entry into the picnic area. It was only about 30 minutes from Centennial/Skye Canyon 95 exit. There were a lot of other families in the picnic area, sledding and playing in the snow! We had so much fun that this will be one of our go-to spots visiting Mount Charleston!

Close your eyes what do you see! Open your mind, let the wind blow over and through your hair. Explore and expand your mind in a new setting away from the norm. Time waits for no one! These days a certain amount of exhaustion is apparent in my life. You feel this too, right! I'm looking for the cure! Guess what, I found my bliss and joy among the trees and in the wildness of nature. As the seasons change and come and go we must remember to get away and reset; perhaps relax. Joy is a little turn away. Feel the pull of something other than the mundane moments of every day life. Let's get away even if it's for the afternoon. Being in the shadows of the Mojave desert at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain that which separates our state from California we have an extremely exceptional topography here for the peoples of Nevada to get out and enjoy. As urban sprawl has destroyed and decayed much of the wild life cycles and environments of the greater Las Vegas area we still have "some" places where the neon and drinks do not touch. We have a place where we can escape and find some wildness. Remember to please leave nature as you find her too. Many animals call this area their home. Your welcome to come and play; but let's leave the wild as you found it. As you set out looking for a place to go play and get away from the lights and glitz of Las Vegas, drive north and follow the signs to Mount Charleston, where Kyle Canyon exists too. Make a day of actually getting away. Let's set out! The GPS needs to register to fun and enjoyment. For today or whatever day you plan is to get away and have that awe inspiring time.Load up the pets, if you have those littles in the family still it's time to go. Take the one that means the world to you by the hand and escape. Now in Las Vegas we are used to convenience at all turns. If you need something, a little store is on that corner or even up and around the corner. Let's explore a place where a store is not available, you have to bring what you need to survive. No coffee stops or soda spots here or along the way. As you make your way be sure that you are prepared to play in the outdoors. The need of food, snacks, and water should be packed away in the car. Bring your favorite lunch since many picnic tables are around for you and yours to enjoy your "In between times," of your todays. Shall we go out and hike. Make sure and know that while it's not a rough terrain it's still hiking. Over preparedness is never a problem. As you walk the trail let your mind wander, put the phone away and enjoy the company of those that you love the most. Whenever we hike and enjoy life outside of the man made structures that we coexist in each and every moment you change. The inner you resets to a time when you remember those quiet tranquil times when time stood still. Do you remember a time when a deadline was not a deadline? Even if for an afternoon enjoy some time to solitude and peace among nature. Remember the healing process that nature can do for your whole mind, body and spirit! Now let's go!!

Are you tired of the movies? You want to get away from the city? You want to enjoy some outdoor activities? You got to come right here. It's Kyle canyon recreation right before Mount Charleston. Heads up there is a parking fee for overnight or day use.I paid 18 bucks today. Which is all good I've been wanting to barbecue at this spot. This place is so perfect you can actually take your dogs here and walk the trails here. You can walk on a cement trail or off course if you wanted to.There's a lot of restrooms here and what's so cool that they're all clean.I'm here right now as we speak, You know what's even more cool? There's actually a internet signal here :)I can't wait till my next day off I got to do this all over again today was a good day.

I came back! This time I brought my daughter. We set up our awning and car tent.Site# 9 was a good place to set up my car tent due to the huge parking space. However, it was too sunny. Super hot bec. hardly any shades. No place to put up my hammock. If you got big trucks, this is definitely a good place to have. Restrooms - very clean! However, they need a bigger trash can. Faucets - well maintained. A very clean area!WIFI - omg we watched movies at night it was so cool. Also, make sure to bring your own logs cuz they ain't selling them.

Beautiful area to walk in winter when there's snow, great to take your kids or dogs, and sleigh areas all around. Parking inside the picnic area is paying but a lot just park on the side of the road just like we did. Gorgeous day with great pictures.

On May 1, 2022, Kyle Canyon Punic Area was turned into a campground. Mike is the Campground Master and does a great job helping campers feel comfortable! I asked him for help with several things for my physically challenged mother. He really came through! The area is beautiful and our weekend family camp out was great!

Mariam (sp)? The entrance station attendant, was so nice and gave me some great advice about the area.I am in Vegas while wife works and found this unexpected gem just out driving around. Who knew?! Mountain forests and aspens just 40 min from downtown Las Vegas. 90 degrees in the valley, 72 at 8437'. Elk, wild horses, deer... I had no idea... Salute!

The picnic area was very dirty. Food was all over the ground, which, of course, will attract flies. If you want to charge people for something, then maintain it!!!
