Not bad, not bad at all...By the end of my first night at Great American FoodieFest I was soooo full, and disappointed that I didn't see this food truck in the beginning. I was too full to order anything else, but when I walked by the truck it took a lot of me to not order the Gumbo. The sweet order, offered us samples of the soup from the gumbo and I was like, whoa! I went home dreaming about that damn Gumbo, so much that it's why I returned for again to get some! This isn't like your traditional Gumbo. It's doesn't have seafood pieces, just stripped juicy chicken and flavorful sausage, rice, onions all in a savory broth that isn't too salty. With the overcast weather we have today, this soup truly hit the spot. Be sure to follow them on WTF, "Where's The FoodTruck".

My husband and I enjoy Cajun food so my husband was instantly drawn to this truck. I'm pretty sure this was their first time at Foodie Fest as I don't recall seeing them in the past. A local truck which is always great! The ladies at Kravin' Kajun were friendly and welcoming. They were proud to be local and their truck was sporting the "Vegas Strong" logo which was cool. My husband went with a Fried Catfish Po Boy, his weakness. The Po Boy was loaded with the fried catfish on a large roll, a good value for $14. Unfortunately, my husband thought one of his favorite foods was just okay. He said the bread wasn't special and the flavors were okay. Again, there wasn't anything wrong with it, but it wasn't something he'd order again. The Chicken & Sausage Gumbo was okay, but not as bold on flavor and seasoning as I expected from a gumbo. The gumbo did have a soupy consistency with plenty of large pieces of chicken and a celery flavor. I felt the same as my husband did about my dish. Good, but not something memorable. Overall, I love to support local business so if I see them around at another event I'd be willing to try some of their other menu options. The Boudin Ball Po Boy and Louisiana Purchase both sounded interesting.

I was cravin' some good food. After this experience, I was still cravin' some good food.Kravin' Kajun is a small food truck - more of a trailer, really - that serves New Orleans-inspired cuisine. I came across them at the free admission annual Sunset Park'd event tonight. I was interested in trying them because they're a little different than the typical burgers, sandwiches, and tacos which are offered by the usual food trucks.I went for the chicken & sausage gumbo on rice ($13). The gumbo was pretty good actually. It wasn't as rich or spice-laden as I'd anticipated, but it was satisfying enough. The chicken was okay, but the andouille really popped, even more than the stew itself at times. My gripes were with the portion and the rice. If it were a richer stew, I could consume more rice per bite, but I went about 50-50. Because the gumbo layer is significantly smaller than the rice layer, I ended up with leftover rice. By the way, the rice was undercooked to the point that at least a couple of grains per bite were noticeably hard. I know they they were out of rice for a while, but they should've waited a bit longer to ensure that it was cooked properly, rather than caving to imaginary pressure from us waiting customers.I may try something else from Kravin' Kajun if I stumble across them again, but I won't actively track them. I'm a little more supportive/lenient toward food trucks if they're good enough, and I can't say that about this truck.

This food truck's food is bomb! Most people from Vegas have never tried Cajun food, and they're missing out! If you like flavorful food with a little kick, you will love it! Their etouffee has me stalking this truck all over town. I even tried making some at home because I was craving it so badly. The name says it all.... Kravin' Kajun will have you coming back for more!!!

Sooooo good! Flavorful with all the right spices, the husband/wife owners were extremely friendly, and from what she was telling me...they donate a % of proceeds to charities/organizations! Love that and the food! You can tell they both have a passion for their food and cause! Louisiana Purchase dish was AMAZING!!!
