My wife and I flew in for a 24 hour trip for some dining and gambling and decided to try our first omakase here in Vegas. I chose this place based on the really high ratings without looking into the actual reviews, which was a big mistake. This was a bit of a last minute booking so there was no availability for any kaiseki options, but I didn't think it mattered since my wife loves nigiri above all other foods; we weren't trying to go all-out and opted for the lower priced of 2 sushi omakase options. When we arrived to the restaurant 15 minutes early, we found the omakase room empty while the separate kaiseki room was still full of diners. The omakase room is only a sushi bar large enough to accommodate 6 people, so we sat next to another couple while and the last couple arrived 15 minutes late. The room itself had a simple but clean aesthetic; there was a single sushi chef and single server attending to the 6 diners. We could tell that our server might not be the most experienced when it came to omakase and was a little awkward/stiff at times, but she opened up when the other diners started chatting with her about her personal life. The chef, while nice, frequently appeared extremely confused: there were countless moments when he would slice some fish, silently pause for at least 5 seconds while looking back and forth between what he had just cut and the box of remaining uncut fish, and then finally move on to his next action. My wife and I found it (maybe not so) secretly hilarious and were wondering about his experience as sushi chef or if he was just having an off night. Now for the real reason why I gave this place a 3 star review: we decided to opt for the cheaper omakase at $165 as opposed to the $210 option, which turned out to be a critical error. Now we've been to our fair share of expensive omakase outings, paying up to $400 per person, but again, we weren't looking to break the bank on a random weeknight and we figured $165 was a reasonable price for some nice pieces of fish. The problem is when you dine with others ordering the higher tier menu (the other 4 diners in this case), you'll see just how stark a contrast there is between these 2 price points at this establishment. To begin, they received lobster in 1 of their starter dishes, while we received a starter of eggplant and shrimp in dashi (which admittedly did taste good). Next, we received snapper and grouper (which I discovered is rather chewy and not that pleasant) while the others had chutoro (which we never received the entire night). The initial nigiris were also different, with the biggest discrepancy being our akami (bluefin tuna) vs their otoro as a stark contrast. After that, we received a pork and mushroom meatball (again, also tasty) while they received A5 wagyu. For the second round of nigiri, the most expensive piece of fish that we received was otoro while the others enjoyed uni (another item that we didn't receive). The handroll course, which I often count on to help fill me up, was relatively undersized; the tamago was actually great and tasted more like an egg cake than an omelette. Our total tab came out to a little under $400 after ordering a couple beers with our meal, which felt somewhat pricey relative to what we received even though everything besides the grouper ranged from good to really good in terms of taste. As a whole, the entire experience felt like a 2 hour long descent into FOMO and is a classic example of phrase "go big or go home"; we were so shell-shocked that my wife is trying to convince me to give a 2 star review instead. After such a huge letdown, I'm not sure if our emotional scars will see us ever return to dine at this restaurant ever again.

Booked this place for my partner's birthday, and everything was amazing! Fresh seasonal ingredients. Good pace of serving dishes. Felt full but not overly stuffed at the end.We got the basic tier omakase (CHIKU) $165 per person. The other guests next to us had the luxury tier omakase (SHOU) $210 per person, so we got to compare the two. Honestly, chiku was such a good value - shou came with uni, scallops, and better cuts of meat, but the amount of dishes were the same (i think??).They have different chefs with different specialties making the food - so the fish expert, tempura expert, and then all else expert lol.Ours was the fall menu, and I just love how innovative they were with all the dishes. Everything had something we enjoyed! We both had lived in Japan for 3 years, so we know what good Japanese food is, and all the dishes wow'd us!!As mentioned earlier, it was my partner's birthday, so when I booked over the phone, I asked if they could write Happy birthday in Japanese, and they wrote it on a note and had it on the table when we arrived. Not only that, but they had a little happy birthday chocolate placard for his dessert! So sweet and accommodating! If you have allergies or food items you don't enjoy, you should call in and let them know!Great job Kaiseki Yuzu team!! Will come again for special occasions!!

This is an absolutely amazing restaurant! There are separate rooms, one for sushi-based omakase and one for kaiseki (which is for different techniques). The staff were friendly. The music playing in the sushi room was calming and the interior was beautiful. This is a special place and I would definitely come back again for another special occasion!

Yelp Review 2024 #88:We came here on my first birthday dinner (for a month-long celebration). A reservation was made beforehand. I don't think they take walk-ins as the restaurant is small and intimate. And they only have 2 timed seatings: 5:30pm and 8pm. We got there 15 minutes early but the door was locked. They're located next to a Japanese market. Once we entered, we got escorted to a small room. With your reservation, you have to select which menu option you want and it's kind of tricky because the website doesn't explicitly spell out what you're going to get. So, we just picked a random set menu and hoped we picked a good one.Their kaiseki service is about a 2-hour experience. Everybody gets to sit at the sushi bar and you'll enjoy the view of the chefs preparing your food in front of you. We had about 10 courses and every presentation was remarkable. They present the slabs of fish and slice them in front of you. On the left side of the bar is the certificate about the wagyu beef they're serving you.Our meal consisted of tuna, fatty tuna, wakamomo (baby peach), miso soup, eel, wagyu, tofu, sushi, handroll, soba, and a matcha dessert. I love matcha and I was very glad that's their dessert of the month. It was a good variety without being too filling. We couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate my birthday (one of many celebrations). They had 3 chefs: 2 straight from Japan, and John (Japanese-American sushi chef). 2 lovely and attentive servers who explained each dish so eloquently. Their dress code is business casual but there were people wearing casual outfits (shorts, t-shirt and trainers). It's a nice dining experience and not AYCE so dress accordingly.

A friend had made reservations for us as they frequent this place. Just keep in my their menu is not always the same since its kaiseki and they put together a course meal. I'm not sure if I just went on an off day, but the food was mediocre and heavily centered on uni aka sea urchin which I personally am not a fan of. The way my friend described prior dining experiences, there was maybe 1 dish with uni, but this time around there was at least 3 to 4 out of the 9. The staff is very friendly and nice. Its def cozy spot. One large table that seats I believe 6. When we had gone, it was the 4 of us only. So def more of a private ish dining experience. But I wouldn't come back to dine here tbh. I felt like I wasted my money unfortunately. And we went all out and got the most expensive package. My friend felt hella bad bringing me here. I honestly didn't eat too much of the foods and ended up at in and out after.

A truly phenomenal experience. It's so beautiful to watch these amazing chefs prepare tiny morsels filled with flavor. One of the best dining experiences I've had, both in Vegas and in Japan. I treated my wife's birthday dinner -- the special seasonal menu in July that centered on the snow-aged wagyu and unagi. Every course was top notch, beautifully presented, with quality ingredients. My favorite course was the wagyu -- flame seared, with foie gras, top with shaved black truffles. Truly decadent in every way. The A5 30-day snow aged wagyu didn't taste as heavy and fatty as regular A5 wagyu. This was definitely a splurge with the special kaiseki menu, but I will definitely return to try their more "affordable" kaiseki menu at $165. Service was efficient and personable, we got lucky because another party canceled so it felt like a private dining experience.

Food: another delicious Kaiseki meal. We had the Chiku menu, which is the lower tier menu at $165 per person and was comprised of 9 beautifully thought out and designed seasonal dishes. Each a work of art and wonderfully different textures and tastes to please. Service: always impeccable. My japanese mother was even impressed! We took her there to celebrate her birthday. They even accommodated me and were able to give me fish instead of beef during the grilled course since I don't eat meat.Ambiance: I requested the private room and although you can't reserve it, we were fortunate enough to get it, so I was very pleased at the privacy.Tip: you need to reserve with a credit card and cancellation policy is 48 hours in advance or you will be charged in full due to the uniqueness of their meals. This is a wonderful place for a special occasion. Highly recommend!

One of the best dining experiences in Vegas, like truly a hidden gem. Or maybe not because it was really hard to get a reso last year and the place was packed with people! But yenno.. iykyk The good:- I went to Japan for the first time for Xmas and honestly this place felt so authentic to the Kaiseki and sushi spots I was in Tokyo. You are literally transported to Japan when you come in here-- the architecture, art, service and food.. yep- every bite was special in its own way. I really enjoyed the pieces that I thought looked plain, and that was very humbling for someone like me- I just love this place... excited to come back. They made our anniversary very special as well with a little dessert The meh:It was perfection, no mehs
