Food:Got two mix plates- hubs got one teriyaki chicken and kalua pig, and I got furikake chicken and garlic shrimp.Kalua- was good. Nothing too special.Teriyaki chicken had the grill taste to it. It was deffinately better than many so called "Hawaiian" places around. Flavor was also nice and wasn't dry. It was really good.Furikake chicken- was cooked nicely. Not hard at all like others have experienced. Flavor was just right too. It was good. Wish they had a spicy option.Garlic shrimp- came with 4 jumbo pieces. Tasted good but it had that shrimp cocktail texture. I think it's one of those frozen shrimp bags, and not like the shell on fresh kine. Wasn't too bad.Mac salad- that came in the plates was definitely nothing special. Next time we'll ask if can substitute for kimchi. If not, we'll just skip it.Menu:Small and simple with good enough variety. Wish they had mahi-mahi. Kids menu:No Keiki menu. If you don't eat a lot, can probably share your food with your kiddo. Serving size for me wasn't enough both my kiddo and I, so I got em musubi too. Customer service:Just fine, however, we came in still with about two hours prior to closing and half of the room's chairs were already up. We hate eating at places that do that. The plaza looks dead at night as it is, and their glass windows are tinted so dark that they looked closed. We hesitated coming in but our son was so hungry. Had my hubs get off and look in first to make sure they were still open. His face when he opened the door. Without saying anything yet, I could already guess their chairs were up already. Hubs got back to the car and confirmed the chairs were indeed already up. Said no need go in and just go somewhere else. But like said, our son was so hungry already and I was craving furikake. He wasn't happy I asked to just go in. But gladly the food made up for the uninviting feel.Establishment:Dark and gloomy at night on top of being in a gloomy plaza, but clean.Sit in concept was kinda weird. When we got in, we came up to the register and tried to order. Gentleman asked if we're dining in and if so, just sit down. So, we did just that. He took our order and checked on us once if everything was ok mid our meal, which was fine. We're easy people. But to get your drinks, you go to the fountain machine, and to pay, you go back up to the cashier. We think it's better off just to order at the cashier upon arrival and pay on the spot. Just our two cents. Restrooms:Clean but no toilet seat covers. Soap dispenser was so high up lol.Kid friendly:So so. No kids menu but get musubi. That's all that matters for my son. Soap dispenser in the restroom are for tall people only. Help your kids wash their hands lol.Price point:Kinda pricey for Hawaiian food. $20 before tax for a mix plate with breaded chicken, 4 pieces of shrimp... Maybe if the portion was a bit larger.Do I recommend this place, or will I come back?I have not been here since the first owners sold it to non Hawaiians. Only decided to come back when someone said new ownership is Hawaiian again. Was trying to show support. But we'll be back. Hopefully we have another good food experience.

Nothing they attempt to introduce to the menu since they took ownership is impressive. You can definitely tell they don't know how to cook themselves and aren't the best at managing.it's obvious the new owners are Haole and have no idea what the true meaning and feeling of pure aloha isI used to love going here when my kids were younger because it felt like home..

I used to come here so many times back in 2013-2015. Then I moved far and didn't come back. Just came back and it's as delicious as I remember it. The ahi is so fresh, the rice is soft and fluffy, and the macaroni salad isn't overwhelming. They are pretty generous with their ahi so that's a huge plus. The staff is super friendly and I think it's a good touch to give you a cup with ice and you serve yourself your refreshment of choice. I went for the black unsweetened oolong tea and it hit the spot. I am only reviewing my dine-in experience. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because back then, with the same price, (this was like $17 with tip this time), I was able to get a plate 2x the size as this with two scoops of macaroni salad/rice.

I was greeted by a young girl as soon as I got in. Very friendly. I came here on a Tuesday at 3 PM and there was nobody here. Just how I like it. I ordered the chicken Katsu and lumpia as an appetizer. The plate comes with a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaroni. The food came out hot and fresh and you could tell It was just made. Macaroni salad was awesome. Rice was a bit dry. Chicken katsu was delicious. So was the lumpia! I didn't care for the chicken furikake. It had a bit of a seafood flavor to it. I don't do seafood. But service was great as well. Portions were good to me.

Very yummy. Very friendly. Very worth! My guy psyched us with the mochiko chicken! Soooo much!!! And sooo yummyyyyy!Mochiko chicken isn't on the menu anymore, but it might be the daily special!! Their Mac salad is also pretty good. I've also tried some other menu items like their furikake chicken and also thought it was solid. highly recommend!

So this was a few months back but I forgot to make the review. I picked up my younger brother from school and wanted to take him out to eat as he goes to South west HS. Being in close range I asked him if we wanted some Hawaiian food and we stumbled upon island flavor. The lady who took care of us was really nice and showed us their best plates so we went ahead and got the Mix plate for myself and the Furikake chicken for my brother. The place itself looks very Hawaiian and the music just makes it a tad bit more islander vibes. The price is a bit steep but worth the money forsure! Mix plate - so in this mix plate I chose to have BBQ Chicken and Kalua Pork. The rice was nice and moist as it isn't dry at all. The Mac salad was amazing as the establishment serves high quality Hawaiian food. The kalua pork was nice and rich in flavor, the chicken itself was nice and sweet as well as juicy and not overly cooked. Furikake chicken - so as I said in my mix plate review the rice and the Mac salad were phenomenal. The chicken itself is like to die for. I am a sucker for Furikake chicken and this place has the bar high with theirs. Love it. Food - 10 / 10Service - 10 / 10Setting - 10 /10 Total - 10 / 10

So, my first time at this spot, and I went for the katsu and roast pork with gravy. The katsu was alright, but the katsu sauce tasted a bit too much like ketchup for my liking. The roast pork lacked flavor and tenderness, and the gravy could use a little more salt. Also, the macaroni salad was a bit overpowering with seasoning when combined with the meats.Sadly, they didn't have the katsubi anymore, which I was eager to try - seems it's no longer on the menu. The place is decent, and service was okay. However, we waited quite a while for the check, and it was clear we were done eating, so we just headed to the cashier.I'm giving them a 3-star because I sense potential, but they need that extra something to bring out their best. Hopefully, that makes sense. I'd still recommend trying it out, but maybe keep your expectations in check.

Island Flavor has been flagged in my Yelp Las Vegas collection for way to long for me to be eating there only now. My bad. Despite thousands of reviews on Yelp, on the Sunday night this week my husband and I stopped in for dinner around maybe 5:30pm, there was not another patron in the entire place. As the time clicked by, a few more dine-in people showed up and clearly a robust to-go operation was observed. The staff was certainly welcoming, perky and low key (seems very Hawaiian style that way). If dining-in, grab a seat and they will take your order from the table. My husband went with the "Local Favorites," selecting Furikake Chicken and Chicken Katsu (the two items our waitress indicated were the two most popular items off the menu). I went with the "Pupu" menu and ordered Ahi Poke Made Your Way - Shoyu style. We also ordered a spam musubi and a fried spam musubi. The poke was not exceptional. Had more of the texture of "just unfrozen" and the meals ensemble came with too many green and white onions (seemed like an exceptional amount of them really, as if they needed a "filler" to make up for too little poke). Compared to other poke options around the valley (I enjoy poke, so I feel like I know enough to compare), there was less actual fish than I would have expected. Lots of onions, less fish....maybe not the right balance for this dish. But in getting my negative comment out of the way first, my husband said his chicken items were good. Fresh, hot, not overcooked. This meal had a significantly large portion on his plate as well, enough to take home and enjoy another big meal the next day. The macaroni salad was good and the rice was well made too. The fried musubi was something new to us, but it definitely added a different layer to the experience of enjoying the simplicity of musubi. So maybe a Hawaiian eatery to us that does an excellent job on the meats like chicken, roast pork, pig versus poke, we enjoyed our meal and the staff, so we would return.

Have always liked some flavor to the island :)Island Flavor is one of our faves from the Hawaiian list of restaurants here in Vegas. For dinner I enjoyed a flavorful Loco Moco with the tasty hamburger patty and sunny side up eggs. My family liked the savory garlic shrimp and I must say one of the freshest chicken Katsu delicacies in town. We ordered our meal for delivery and these Hawaiian meals hit the spot.Get some flavor at Island Flavor the next time you're craving some succulent Hawaiian flavorful eats!

My favorite menu item is their teriyaki chicken. It had an amazing grilled flavor and the sauce also tastes good. I love that it's not too sweet, as I'm not a fan of the practically candied meats that other restaurants give. The fried rice was a little bland this time but it's an easy fix to add soy sauce and maybe a touch of sesame oil. The chicken katsu was greasy, because, well.. it's deep fried.I gotta mention that I loved the teriyaki chicken so much to where I'm tempted to order a catering tray so I can meal prep them LOL. I'm sure it freezes well, right?
