Shoutout to Yelp events for introducing me to Gung Chae, because I sure did come back within a week!Gung Chae is a quick, small but clean, Korean restaurant with some solid, healthy options. The parking is shared with other businesses (Trader Joes, Boba Master, etc.). The strip it's located in may be busy, but it is a convenient area. The staff is also very friendly, and food comes out fairly quickly.I've been to Korea 3 times now, but only for a few weeks at a time. From what I've had, this spot is pretty authentic. Down to the display artificial food items! Big fan of what they did with the space.Kimbap, kimchi, stew, and spicy pork have all been delicious. I'm a little picky when it comes to kimchi, but I am tempted to get some to-go next time to have at home! Theirs is wonderful. My only gripes are that water is self-serve (but it is casual Korean dining & it's a typical practice), and although portions are large, it is a bit pricy. $20 for a combo is a lot for a quick meal.Bonus points for offering a punch card and having many vegetarian options!

How disappointing. As a Korean, I was pleased to see a Korean joint opening here right by my yoga studio. Take this review with a grain of salt because this location just opened the day before, and while I wanted to give some grace, the experience kept getting worse.Let's go over how it went from bad to worse.(1) Upon walking in, nobody even greets you. It's your second day of business. If you can't even get that right -- don't bother.(2) The price of some of the menu items seem exorbitantly high but perhaps, I thought, the product itself would prove worthwhile in amount or taste.(3) It's not a vast menu and this is not some shop that opened its first location. This is the second location. How is it that the person taking your order at the register cannot understand SHORT RIB DOSHIRAK ($25) -- that is on your menu?? Repeated twice and then he wants me to give him the # on the menu. That's just an utter lack of training. More management's fault than this guy. Then he fails to understand "spicy pork bibimbap," ($15.50) so I give him the menu #. I order these two items and a $14 (!!) "gung chae kimbap."(4) They go ahead preparing the food with four people mulling about preparing this doshirak (bento). +1 point for beautiful packaging and exquisite attention to someting that doesn't matter compared to some of this other stuff.(5) About 15 minutes passes and I'm offered a large bag by another employee claiming it's my order. As I mentioned, I'm Korean... I know what doshirak looks like and I can see the kimbap, but I see no evidence of my bibimbap. I ask if it's in here and she stares at the attached receipt pondering if it is. She clearly doesn't know what the bibimbap looks like so she can't peer into the bag to verify that it is not. Then, she takes back the bag and three of them stand there peering at the receipt, like the bibimbap would somehow magically appear. A Korean woman comes by, appears to confirm it is indeed missing, then begins preparing it.The thing is -- anyone non-Korean or an Uber driver would have walked out with this takeout order completely unaware that one entire entree was missing, assuming it's in one of these [great] containers. I'd have driven home 15 minutes and one of us would be without food.(6) They finally fulfill the whole order and the same girl hands me back the bag. There's not a "sorry about that" or even a "thank you." I'm handed the bag like they didn't essentially just try to rip me off or didn't just make a mistake. SERIOUSLY, WHO IS TRAINING THIS STAFF???(7) OK. Above all else, I'm about the food. All else is forgivable if the food is worth the near $60 I paid for this experience, right? It's their second day opened so I can overlook it all, right?Except it's nothing exceptional. They sell their kimchi and radish kimchi -- both are average, at best. I may be biased because I make my own kimchi but this kimchi is not worth purchasing. The short rib doshirak is unimpressive. It's shabby quality of LA galbi, with puny amounts of meat on the bones, and an even dinkier number of ribs. The soybean stew it came with is acceptable, or at least much better than the ribs. The banchan is unremarkable. The bibimbap -- what kind of bibimbap doesn't come with an egg? But okay - I fried my own at home and put it on top. But putting that aside, it is a huge amount of white rice with improperly portioned toppings. The spicy pork consisted of literally a tiny amount that fit into the small middle cup, but more importantly -- it's a completely tasteless spicy pork. And the $15 kimbap? Compared to this, which barely had one sliver of ribs in it, the short rib doshirak turned out to be a good buy.The photo also shows purple rice in their marketing shots but nothing of the sort was offered to me._____I intended to come try the naengmyun (cold noodles) and tofu soup, but I won't be back. Seriously, if you can't hire people who will at least say hello, never mind apologize when they get the order wrong, I'm not sure if you are meant to stay in business. You can see my review and pictures on Google.https://maps.app.goo.gl/UL1YrtE6PvX8PjXY6?g_st=ic

First time at Gung Chae and when you walk through the doors it's well lit, clean and coffee shop esq feeling. I ordered the hot stone bibimbap and the presentation was great, came with side salad with the most amazing dressing, kimchi also good and I was informed it is fermented for 3 weeks like one would hope. The bibimbap was very good with the bulgogi but the portion of meat was small needs more. Also on the hot stone please do not add lettuce it wilts and the texture turns nasty on the palate. Very glad to have them in centennial as options are mostly chains so this is a nice refresher and I will return hopefully for a bigger portion of meat. thank you

Great option for Korean food without having to go to Spring Mtn.!Over two trips, I ordered the sullungtang and kimchi jjigae for my parents, and a combo B with seafood stew and galbi and a beef kalguksu for us. They were all great. My parents liked the sullungtang, although my mom said they put regular noodles in it, instead of glass noodles. We brought home the broth from the beef kalguksu (5/5) and I used it to make dduk mandoo soup with it. Yum!Also brought home the leftover seafood soondooboo 4/5) and the galbi (4/5), which made for a perfect lunch the day after. A great addition to the northwest. In the Trader Joe's parking lot so parking is a non-issue.

Yesterday, I stopped by this Gung Chae and I love the Korean fast food restaurant idea in the heart of Centennial! I was greeted by Jeanne, She was very friendly and explained to me what was good on the menu. I tried the combo A; beef tofu soup and LA Kalbi combo. The tofu soup was rich and comforting, with a nice balance of spice and silky tofu. The LA Kalbi was tender, flavorful, and had that perfect charred edge from the grill. The portion size was generous, and the flavors were well-balanced. For a fast-food joint, the quality was impressive, and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely a solid option if you're craving something hearty and satisfying in the Northwest side of Las Vegas!

The quick service was clean and well organized. The how to decor was interesting to see the process of how their products are made. The soup was seasoned but no salt which was perfect for me. Their kimchi was perfect not too spicy and full of flavor. The coleslaw side salad was light and left me wanting more. The rice was fluffy and slightly sticky. Their portions are plentiful and we could have had leftovers but kept going back for more. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.

I'm in this plaza regularly to go to Trader Joes and recently saw this spot open up - it's a fast casual Korean spot with a healthy slant. Based on other reviews here, they seem to have a pretty straightforward menu with a more approachable flavor profile.I came in on a cold day after a nearby workout and ordered the kimchi tofu stew (came with rice, extra kimchi, and a cabbage salad) and the spicy chicken kimbap, total was about $20. If you dine in, your meal will come out in the traditional metal and ceramic dishes. The kimbap is packed for takeout. The soup was good, served bubbling hot, and I took about half of the portion home. The kimbap held up well, and I thought the spicy chicken filling was okay - I haven't really seen it elsewhere, would consider coming back to try the bulgogi version on another visit.Service was polite, location was clean, they have a self service drink station with takeout boxes ready to go. They have a second location in Henderson as well.
