Let me help you prepare for your weekend visit to Gritz Cafe.Be prepared for a long wait--about an hour and a half before being seated. I highly recommend downloading the app so you can get updates on your wait time. Once your table is ready, you'll have about 10 minutes to check in with the hostess before your spot is given to the next guest. Our hostess was amazing--very sweet and welcoming. She submitted our order correctly, but unfortunately, we didn't receive a few of our items. I had specifically asked for my daughter's food to be served first, but she was actually the last to be served, which was disappointing. Additionally, after the long wait to be seated, we waited about another hour for our food to arrive. The prices were reasonable, and the food was okay. However, the customer service was excellent. I even left my bag behind and had to return later--everything was still intact, which I really appreciated. It's a small, quaint place, and given that it was a holiday weekend, I assume the longer wait times were due to the high volume of guests. That being said, if people are willing to wait over an hour to eat here, that says a lot about the food.I'd definitely recommend checking it out for yourself. The service was truly outstanding, and our hostess did everything she could to make our experience enjoyable, despite the long wait.

I do not live close to the restaurant, and I came specifically for catfish and grits. I even paid extra to add cheese...only to get all the way home and no grits. I ordered the big grits breakfast, which also came with a waffle. The waffle is dry, I received no butter or syrup to accompany it. It's extremely disappointing to make a trip and pay $75 for food plus a 25% tip to not receive a proper order. I called to address my issue and I had to call 7x to get through. When I finally connected with a staff member, the call disconnected as she was looking for my ticket. I thought she hung up on me. I called a few more times until I finally got through again and the young lady said the phone died. The resolution I was offered was to drive all the way back for grits or to be added to the comp book for the missing item. I chose the comp book bc no way I'm driving all the way back across town. Still disappointed with the resolution bc the cats fish literally go with the grits and that's what I ordered, wanted, and expected. My meal is subpar due to being incomplete. It doesn't even hit the same. And when I pick up my comp item...it will only be grits. Another incomplete meal. My daughter had a breakfast croissant and the bacon was completely burnt. They were so wrong for putting that charred bacon on the sandwich. Customer service relating to the complaint was not great, she seemed more annoyed to handle the call as opposed to apologetic and resolving.

I finally got to try this restaurant! It's been on my list for awhileLocated in what looks like a business/industrial area, kind of off the beaten pathWe were greeted upon entering a seated quickly. Our orders were taken promptly and food arrived in a good amount of timeI had the catfish breakfast with the Sweet Potato waffle. Excellent excellent !My friend had the three wing breakfast. The wings were ok. A little bruised, wouldn't get again.I would definitely come back again to try other items on the menu.

I went to Gritz Cafe on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is nestled in an affluent area of the historic Westside of Las Vegas. There is parking on both sides of the street. I went inside, and the hostess took my number and said I would receive a text once a table opened. I returned to my car until I received a text stating my table was ready and I had 8 minutes to arrive. The inside of the restaurant had Afrocentric paintings on the wall and classic R&B, like " Nobody" by Keith Sweat, featuring Athena Cage playing. An attentive, pleasant, and no-nonsense server named Angel took my order. I wanted a waffle, so I asked Angel, " What's popular?" She said the classic waffles are popular but recommended the sweet potato waffles as the most popular--an excellent call! I ordered the sweet potato waffles, cheese eggs, four catfish fillets, grits, peach cobbler, and sweet tea! It took a while to get my order, and I saw a family who sat after me get served before me. However, I had time to spare, so I waited patiently to receive my food. My server Angel approached my table and asked, " Did you eat?" I was in thd middle of slurping my sweet tea and said, " Ummm mmmm." Angel frowned up and snapped, " Ummm mmmm" making a face that showed she felt my wait was unacceptable; she seemed to take my wait personally and immediately walked to the back to I presume tell the cook to put some pep in their step because I have a customer who's been waiting too long. It was a funny moment but I appreciated Angel ensuring that I got taken care of promptly; it shows that she values her customers! When I got my food it was worth the wait, especially the sweet potato waffle! The waffle was soft and golden, and it contained chunks of sweet potato inside! It tasted so delicious that I can't return to eating regular waffles again! I enjoyed all of my food, including the scrumptious peach cobbler, and the hostess gave me several refills of sweet tea! When I got a to-go plate for my catfish and peach cobbler; the friendly hostess brought me a box and a small Styrofoam cup full of sweet tea to take! Another friendly female employee or possibly the owner bid me farewell as I exited the door! The food was mouthwatering, and Gritz Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants! They treated me like I was a VIP, and the free refills and huge portions provided excellent value! I highly recommend Gritz Cafe, if only they were open longer than 7 am to 3 pm daily!

Around for years, now making Eater's 38 Essential Restaurants in Vegas. What took me so long?Outstanding soul food. The "Mississippi", three well seasoned, cornmeal crusted, fluffy and moist deep fried catfish filets, a bowl of buttery grits, well cooked collards and a to die for 12" thin and crisp waffle all for a little more than a quarter cheques?Don't like my choices? How about juicy fried chicken wings (stolen from a poker bud's plate), grilled pork chops, sausage patties and choose from a plethora of choices of sides, biscuits and breads. Everything is also available ala carte so mix and match anyway you like.Omelets and sandwiches including the requisite po boys available. None sampled. After all, you gotta have grits at a placed named after them.Very friendly service. Not fancy. Busy AF. Eat and get out so someone else can do the same.Worthy.

My friend wanted a soul food fix and I saw a news story about this place (channel 8!) and at 6am on tv it looked amazing and it 100% lived up to the hype! The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, the Mac and cheese was like a comforting hug. And the biscuit! My friend thought I was crazy boy putting butter or jam on it, but it didn't need it! They could have a space three times what they have and keep it filled to capacity.

Everything was PERFECT! The fish fry was great, the grits were just right - didn't need to add any salt. Best greens I've had in a lonnng time (a little soft, but seasoning was on point) The energy was good / nice community vibe. I will be back for sure!*Expect a bit of a wait to get seated, but it's worth it

Had a lunch meeting here with coworkers from Vegas. There was a 30 minute wait outside. I couldn't see inside, no windows. When we entered the restaurant was small, seating for about 30 with inviting sunlight yellow paint. The waitstaff was very helpful explaining the food options. Everything on the menu looked delicious. After about 15 minutes going back and forth I decided on the Basket which included waffles, wings, fish with eggs made how you like and a side, I chose grits. The food was so good, I forgot to take a photo for this post. Some of the best I've eaten in Vegas. We met the Owner, she came out to greet us. Such an awesome experience all around.

A bit late writing my review but I couldn't just forget and not write a review because I really feel like people should give this place a shot. The food is so good . Have you heard of Roscoe's ? My LA friends will hate me for this , I really enjoyed this place a lot better . The food was so good and the customer service was amazing . Erin was our waitress and she was so nice and welcoming to my family . She was attentive and kind. She had a great smile as well. All of the workers were kind though. The fried chicken and waffles here are wow. Usually I don't get gritz but it was in the name of this cafe so we tried it and it was one of the best gritz I've had . It's a small cafe with a home like feeling . The parking lot was big so parking wasn't a problem . Definitely coming back next time I go to Vegas

We have been coming to Gritz for years. Currently we drive 30 mins each way to still eat here. The food is great! That's why we love it!It's the service that has failed us 3 times now. 1st we had an issue where grits were left off our order. My mom went back inside to let them know and then she came back to the car with one of the Gritz cafe staff with her.. they were there to check if the grits were really missing from the bag??? He inspected the bags and then told her he'd bring them out...2nd time our order was poorly packaged and side dishes and hot sauces were spilled out all over the entire bag!! 3rd time fries were left off our order. I went back in with the order and TWO people had to inspect my bag to confirm that grits and fries were both left off my order. I then sat and waited for 30 mins!! For fries to be made. While waiting they claimed my fries were remade but had been given to another customer so I had to wait for them to drop more. I finally just went to my car and then the hostess bought them out to me. Mistakes happen but I'm really bothered by the "inspections" that are done when my order is not made correctly... that's not the customers fault.. I should not have to PROVE my food was missing. That's not a good feeling after spending my money .Maybe add signage for customers to open and verify orders before leaving. Sadly we won't be back to Gritz it's just not worth the issues and frustration.
