I simply love this place..First off, I'm not German or of German descent, but that didn't stop me from feeling right at home, here at the German American Social Club. I first came in to try the selection of the fine German beers that are on draft. It being a members only club, I didn't know what to expect. What, I did discover however, is that I felt welcomed by the members right away when I walked in thru the doors. It felt like an actual episode of Cheers lol. Everyone was social. Bartender was knowledgeable. Drinks were cheap. No pressure about memberships. It was a great evening at a neighborhood bar. So of course I asked, "what else goes on here"..They told me about the Saturday night German Dinners! And then about the Sunday live radio broadcast and Soccer Watch parties. The Tuesday Blues day with a live Blues band. Open House Wednesday with full bar. Etc etc So my next visit was on a Tuesday nite and it was Latin night with a live band and a full dance floor. No cover. But for a $5 donation, big plate of homemade pasta, salad and garlic bread. How could I say no to homemade food from their kitchen. I met more members. They all welcomed me like I've been going there for years. Then someone mentioned Friday night "game night"... that's another fun story. All in all, I became a member in my own time and still attend the events and even brought my cronies to their weekend long October Fest. Which in time my cronies became members. It started out as my new watering hole. But as time went on, I learned to love this place and in a strange and wonderful way, I feel it loves me back :)Always something new pops up on their monthly calendar but also keeping with their German roots. I'm glad I stumbled on this place. Did I mention drinks were cheap :)

One of many influential communities responsible for the transformation of Las Vegas. Once a desert ghost town emerged into a culturally diverse melting pot. With all the big city cutting edge technology it might be easy to overlook the simplicity behind the German way of life. Much like this quaint European cottage along the busy commercialized road of Lake Mead Blvd. Our first visit was a mid afternoon stop by. Partially out of curiosity, but mostly to explore the authenticity of this social club. I reluctantly entered as the building seemed more like a residence than a business. A few members were setting up for a private event. After a few German salutations I remembered from high school I received a warm welcome along with a grand tour. The setting resembled a cross between a veterans elks club and a American Legion hall. The popular Friday night dinner dance included beneficial auction for local schools. Picnic table seating and homemade meals eluded to the strong sense of home. For some members it meant a remembrance of their German homeland. For others home was being around families and familiar faces.

Love this quaint club! Talk about friendly, one is never not greeted. All are welcomed, even if you're not German! Say hello to the bartender, Bruce, great guy. Dinner is always available during the fabulous Tuesday night jams. You never know what great musician is going to show up & perform. And fabulous singers! They simply appear on stage from the audience, each singer has a fascinating pasts. The Tuesday & Sunday musical events would never happen without Marsha bringing it all together.

After years of driving by this place at not going in (it is a club*), we finally had the chance during a Rummage Sale. Oh my God, it is cute inside! I know a German Restaurant in town that could use the charm of this place!!!!It has a full bar (with German beer -of course!) and kitchen (kitchen is usually only used for their Tuesday Night Vintage Vegas Jazz evenings, Saturday Dinners and the once a month Sunday brunch. They said the Club is also available for Special Event rentals. Most of the members are above the age of 50 (but I was told they have been getting a small influx of younger members recently). Best to check their website for hours of operation, But they are open Tuesday evenings for Jazz, (sometimes) on Thursday evenings, Friday and Saturday afternoon and evenings and the once a month Sunday brunch. The bar prices are cheap! It is an all ages club, so you can bring your children there (just not in the bar section). This is a "Private Club", but they said guests can come Three times to experience it before signing up. Oh the dues... if you do want to join, it costs $3 a month !!! ($35 the first year), and $2 a month for following years ($25 for renewal years). What a bargain! Yes, I ended signing my wife and I up we love it so much!

This place is a really off the wall Vegas experience, an authentic German gasthaus just off Las Vegas Blvd. Full bar and great beer on tap - at great prices. The club is private, but you are allowed a limited number of visits without joining. There is usually a dinner on Saturday nights (check the website for details). The quality of the meals prepared by the members is good, and again the pricing is reasonable. Non-members can enjoy a meal also. Just call the club by Thursday to make a reservation. Absolutely one of my favorite places to have a beer in Las Vegas. Surreal atmosphere, warm and friendly people (almost none of them are German ;))) and delicious German beer on tap!The Club itself (known as the GASCON) is pretty neat too. They have a couple boozy golf tournaments a year, which are a lot of fun, and also do a fantastic job hosting the Oktoberfest in DT Las Vegas. Annual membership is like $35. I carry my card in my wallet. The GASCON is making a push to increase the headcount of its younger members (hold your national socialist youth movement jokes please ;))). There's talk of using the space on the off nights as a music venue and also of hosting viewing parties for both the US and Germany games at the 2014 World Cup. I'll be there...

We attend every year and this year was extremely disappointing...the food was terribly overpriced and the quality non-existent. Regretably, we spent close to $200 for 2 of us between the drink and food. I politely ask for a second "stale" roll (since buns were not even served with the cold Bratwurst) and was declined. The server proceeded to say "it's not my fault" and just laughed...The sides with the Schnitzel were scarcely portioned, but we noticed for their "friends" they loaded them up...The beer draughts were not even good pours....eventually we actually switched to bottles. On another note, the facility was filthy and the bathrooms were ATROCIOUSLY SCUMMY.After MANY years attending, NEVER AGAIN!
