Doña Maria Tamales Restaurant

This place hasn't seen a makeover since the 80's ...and it's perfect.Family run joint with good Mexican food and zero pretentiousness.Just go, it's a freaking Las Vegas institution!

Miguel greeted us immediately upon entrance for lunch. He was also our server. Super polite and always smiled. The restaurant was a nice representation of authentic Mexican culture. The murals on the walls and the music were far from TexMex. Before we can even open our menus we were being served with chips and salsa which we devoured. I saw on the menu that they're known for their tamales so I decided to try a chicken tamale along with a chicken enchilada and chicken taco. Notice a theme? The taco was crispy just as I like. The enchilada with verde sauce was exceptional. I was also reminded why I never order tamales. I'm just not a fan. I've never met a tamale I liked actually so it's nothing against Doña Maria. It's just not my cup of tea. Overall the meal was great and the service and ambience were delightful. Looking forward to coming back and ordering more tacos.

Unfortunately, the food taste packaged and microwaved. Not very flavorful and it was served warm, but not hot. The staff is absolutely wonderful and it's a very beautiful location. I just don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

This downtown location is great with ample parking. The restaurant has the usual cultural motif. We dined in group for lunch and the service is good. I ordered the Beef Burrito & Chicken Tamales Enchilada style. It's my first time here & it's disappointing. I believe it's the sauce. It's extremely salty. I didn't get to enjoy it. The chips and salsa served as starter is really good though. I hope to be back so I can taste their Tamales by itself.

This place was recommended to me on Reddit when I was tasked with bringing two dozen tamales to a potluck. I ordered a week in advance and they ready by the time I got there. The first thing I noticed when I tried them is that they are very filling and flavorful. I ordered chicken and beef, and the beef was my favorite. My co-workers enjoyed them very much too and kept asking where I got them. Would definitely recommend!

We've been several times and have never been dissatisfied when eating in. The service is great, food reminds me of my great grandmothers cooking when I was young. I ordered tamales once to go and I have no problem paying for good food but what you receive in the restaurant is not the same quality for to go items. I'm Leary and always only eat in.

My family and I were visiting the Las Vegas area and chose Doña Maria Tamales Restaurant. The service was great and the ambiance was festive. We all ordered the menudo which included corn or flour tortillas and all of the condiments (e.g., onions, cilantro, oregano, red pepper flakes, lemons). It was delicious. They're known for their tamales, but the menu also offers an array of options too! Next time you're looking for some great Mexican food or you're in the area visiting from out of town, please consider Doña Maria Tamales Restaurant.

Today I ate at Dona Maria Tamales restaurant off Las Vegas blvd.This eatery was founded on love, love for family, and love for making authentic Mexican food. I ordered the lunch special, a chicken, tamale and enchilada. This filling lunch came with beans, rice, and tortillas.First bite I could tell this was a special dish. Our server, Gabriella was very pleasant and did an excellent job taking care of our table. She also tolerated my attempt at broken Spanish.I enjoyed the many murals and paintings on the wall of old Mexico .

This location is amazing. The customer service is the best. The food is delicious. My girls gave it a 10/10. They loved the chips and the tacos. The red salsa that is served with the chips is was amazing. The service was spot on. It was nice that my server remembered me from coming earlier in the day when I sat with my coworkers in a different section.

Really about 2 1/2 stars, but 3 is too generous.Went in at 5 pm on a Tuesday night and only one other patron was in the restaurant..this scared us a little and we almost walked out, but decided to stay.Ordered two beers, a Bohemia and a XX Lager..both of these were cold and delicious.Our waiter took our order..super friendly and also upon request brought us some seriously hot salsa that actually saved these meals we were about to order. We got two tamales, one chicken one beef combo and the other a la carte. Soup came with the meal with a choice of 3 different ones..I got the tortilla soup...by far this was the highlight of the whole meal.Tamales came out and boy were they bland..like instead of cooking the meats in spice, it was like they boiled the meat with no spice..it was just horrible. It is too bad, as the masa was pretty good and the filling so disappointing...we just doused the tamales in the super hot sauce and it covered the overall bland taste. Beans and rice were just OK.Chips and regular salsa were just OK as well, the salsa was like tomato sauce it was so bland.I wanted to like this place because I love tamales..but I will never return. What a shame.
