We've now come to this location a few times because it's the only decent restaurant near my husband's workplace. It's always pretty busy during the lunch. But you don't have to actually wait much for a table because most people are getting takeout. You can tell a lot of working people come to this location to eat.The service is fine but you can tell they are still learning because they sometimes make mistakes on your order so make sure you check the bill when you get it before you pay it. If they make a mistake, they can pay you cash back if you use the card to pay. There is a manager on site that knows how to do everything. It's just a hassle sometimes Mistakes. And mistakes have happened at least twice when we've gone there but we know they're learning so we are pretty understanding. The location is really clean. The bathroom is also really clean so it's a nice comfortable place to eat with kids but there are no kids menus or anything so bring something to keep your kids entertained if you go here and make sure you check the menu to see if there's something your kids will eat. My kids actually don't need anything on the menu so I bring them box lunches and my husband and I eat from the menu. The only thing they eat is a french fries. We've ordered the chicken sandwiches, the pasta, the grilled cheese and the salad. All the food is normal food nothing amazing but the prices are pretty good for the larger meals. The portions sizes are pretty good as well. If you're getting a salad, I'd recommend just getting the big salad because it's a little bit larger than side salad , but the quality of the food overall has been pretty good for the price. You can also upgrade it for three dollars and you'll get a drink plus some french fries. We recommend this place if you're in the area and you're craving some American food. FYI it's called the West bistro so if you put in the culinary Academy on your GPS you would have to look for the actual restaurant which is in the school.

Here is a school that asks you for paying tuition and you pretty much only go to class for four hours a day. The reminder of the day students are preparing meals for casinos, hotels, restaurants.. a job that you would normally get $20 an hour for ,the students are packing salads, putting cheese meat on a piece of sandwich later on being wrapped up and sold for high dollars at the bistro . I'm paying my sons tuition and he's doing four hours labor for free every day ......which if you think about it is a brilliant business idea.. but are you going to the school to learn about cooking or are you only there to prep meals for casinos and restaurants? If they prep for four hours free of charge, I also believe that the four hours of schooling should also be free for the students.

I'm so disappointed with this place, I would never and have not recommended this place to co-workers friends, family and the unemployed. With the amount of money this place makes on each student there is NO excuse for not caring nor taking care of the students. We were given a plastic cheap name tag holder which the teach provided, but requested back when coarse is completed. The EDR smells like urine, and is dirty every time we use it! The food, which has to be purchased has been awlful! The chicken they cook has been raw, also they run out of food on occasions. No coffee, or water is provided which can be donated to and for us students. The workers here look sloppy cause all they were given is a blue trashy t-shirt to represent this academy, the office people wear the street clothes that does not represent professionalism. I'm speaking on behalf of the students, classmates and people who feel the same! Make a change for everybody!

NOTE: This is a review of Culinary Arts Catering, a division of the Culinary Academy that does event catering.Culinary Arts Catering (CAC) handling the catering for our wedding at The Smith Center (TSC) earlier this year. They were AMAZING in every regard -- their team was so great to work with and super accommodating, all the food was incredible, and their coordination with other vendors was seamless. We cannot recommend them enough! We specifically want to shout out Debbie, Marco, and Chefs Loran and Karl, who all went above and beyond! Debbie, our main point of contact with CAC, was one of our favorite people to work with during the course of planning our wedding. Marco, who runs ops for CAC, was incredibly accommodating with F&B requests (esp. when it came to wine and spirit options) and made sure we had what we wanted. Chef Lorna, CAC's pastry chef, made an amazing cake (white cake with a Bavarian cream and fresh strawberry filling). And Chef Karl knocked it out of the park with all the food! We had very high expectations, and he and his team delivered! (We even had an off-menu request for one of our entrees: a gorgonzola-crusted pork chop with a sweet fig sauce we had at one of our favorite Vegas restaurants. In the weeks leading up to our tasting, Chef Karl experimented with a few preparations. The version he presented us was as good, if not better, than the one we were asking him to recreate!) The catering team also did an amazing job setting up the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces. We're so grateful for all the work CAC put in throughout the process!Food highlights:- Gorgonzola-crusted Pork Chop with Sweet Fig/Port Sauce- House Made Lox, American Caviar, Cucumber Dill Crème Fraiche, Salt & Vinegar Chip (hors d'oeuvre)- Duck Confit, Crisp Corn Tortilla, Manchego Fondue, Jalapeno Relish (hors d'oeuvre)

A few weeks ago our company/committee rented the use of the CALV event rooms (3), which we included the AV systems, additional TVs and catering for breakfast and lunch. The entire team from the catering coordinators to the event staff were phenomenal. Each days event ran smoothly - there were no issues with the AV equipment, the food was delicious; everyone really enjoyed the Southwest meal, and the staff were so helpful and respectful of our time and learning sessions. After the event we received amazing feedback from many of our attendees. Going forward, we will definitely keep CALV in mind when planning upcoming events.

My daughter has always wanted to be a chef. We have watched every cooking show from here to hell and back. Recently, she made the decision to attend the Culinay Academy of Las Vegas. This child changed her work schedule to work overnight so she could attend class from 0800-1400. For 13 weeks this kid has gone without sleep, driven across town and NEVER missed a class. She was so very excited about this. One week to go and what she has been through is nothing short of infuriating. The Culinary Academy of LasVegas is a joke. This kid paid over $3400 to be free labor, talked down to, given incomplete recipies with typos, provided rotten food to work with and "taught" by people who graduated last week. When she raised her concerns, she was met with laughter, apathy and then, placated by "the blonde and perky Jennifer".My daughter went to make her final payment today, begrudgingly After being talked down to and dismissed by Jenifer, my daughter asked Jennifer to just take the money so she could leave. *If my daughter had been in the union or unemployed, they would have given her the classes for free. Because she was honest and said she had a job, they made her pay $3484... for nothing.

I've witnessed excellent people treated poorly by upper management at the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas who eventually quit their positions. In 2023, organizational success is paramount; especially with people working together. I mostly witnessed people working against people at this establishment especially the upper management working to ruin the people who do all the work.

I also began here in the Spring/Simmer of 2021. The original FOH instructor left the company to our great disappointment. CALV provided a throw-in teacher who had no business guiding anyone on standards of service. The new instructor has berated students over him being upset about not being able to answer simple questions. He would snap at students who were just trying to learn and advance their careers. I am extremely PO'd at my Union for allowing this mess to continue. My Union has to help pay for these courses that do not meet any professional standards. Get some real GD INstructors.
